Does anyone have an idea of how many miles the average person walks in any of the parks????
Thank you....
:cool1:

All I know is that by the end of the day my feet say alot!!

Interesting question though...I wonder about this too!

When my husband and I go on the weekend we tend to walk 8-10 miles. We tend to be in the parks for 5-7 hours.
One weekend we stayed on site, and not including the water parks, we walked 28 miles. That was for Sat and Sun. Great excerise and fun too! :earsgirl:
I love my pedometer!

We walk an average of 8-10 miles per day depending on the park in the morning, and 1-3 miles in the evening. We get our most excerise from Epcot, followed by AK, then MK, and lastly MGM. We spend 5-6 hours in each park ni the morning and 1-3 hours in he evening depending on the Extra Magic Hour. We go to Disney for 11d/10n at POP Century. When I go next year, I'm going to use a pedometer that I got from McDonald's. I'll record what I walk each day.

When my son was younger I used to wear a pedometer every day so that he could record in his journal for school how far we walked. The average was usually 8-11 miles per day. There was one day where we did 2 parks plus an evening at Pleasure Island and our total for the day was 14 miles! It always amazes me that we can walk that much and still manage to gain weight while we are there. It must be the Mickey icecream bars! :rotfl:

In one of the tour books, it said the average walk at WDW is 11 miles a day!

AND YOUR FEET KNOW IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :earseek:

However, you are having so much fun...it only feels as though you walked 10 miles!!!!!!! ;)

Yes....it always amazes me too that I can add a few pounds after all that walking. Must be the buffets and the :mickeybar

I'm bringing my Garmin 200 this week to WDW. I'm very curious to see how far I walk. Now if its too hot, I may not feel like wearing it.

Wow! I am AMAZED that we walk that much in a day!! Think of all those young kids that are walking 8-14 miles per day!! That's incredible!

But, if you have good shoes your feet don't notice as much.

One trip I had a bad pair of shoes... by the end of the day my feet were in pain.

On the last two trips with a different pair of shoes there was no problem by the end of the day. My feet were fine.

Also, you don't need an expensive pair of shoes either. The ones that worked best for me were a $20 pair of Costco specials. I got two trips (2 1/2 years apart) out of them.

Thank you for all your estimates!!! I did read in one of my "many" WDW guide books that you walk approx. 11-14 miles But I figured I would just toss the question out there to see if any of you had actually checked it out... When we went 2 years ago, I thought we walked 30 miles per day!?! :rotfl2:
But maybe it was only 11 or so! (felt like 30) But I do agree that you don't notice it really, because you are enjoying every minute of it... :goodvibes
Thanks to all who responded to my thread!!! :thewave:

This thread reminds me of the family we saw on a bus coming back from MGM who were amazed that they had walked over 27 miles that day. Turned out they had had the pedometer on for several trips on Tower of Terror, Rock'n'Roller Coaster and other rides. All that up and down and going upside down had added goodness knows how many clicks to their counter.

I wear a pedometer every day and the last time I spent a most of the day in a park (MK), I walked 10.1 miles, or 23,596 steps. I was there from 9 until about 4, then went back from about 7:30 to 11.

We get up every morning at 6am and do a minimum 10k run before we head to the parks. :rolleyes1

...and I swim Lake Buena Vista every morning. Usually disguised as a floating branch. Maybe you've seen me? ;)

We averaged about 8-10 miles per day. I have no problems with that. I work 12 hr shifts and our nurse's stations are counters that we stand at. All day on my feet; just another day at work. It really helps to condition yourself first.
