I knew you would all understand. So please allow me to vent. I'm a college student, going to school part time and working nearly full time. I try to save as much cash as possible to pay for school out of pocket. If I can't pay for two classes out of pocket, I go part time. (3 is full time at my university). Right when I have enough cash saved up for two classes for next semester, the car breaks down. Total head banging moment. Guess it's part time next semester :(

BTDT. Always something. It'll get better. :flower3:

Been in a very similar spot recently. Was getting close to being able to have a full car down payment, plus my a solid chuck of change saved for my Disney trip, when I had to visit the ER on Christmas day due to the stomach flu. Got the bill in the mail and it was about $2400! Luckily I have an HSA so that covered $1k of it but still I had to wipe out my savings to cover the rest.

Just keep chugging along and putting away every penny and you'll be back up there in no time!

I feel so bad for you! Keep plugging away - it doesn't matter how long the journey takes - you will finish. Cars really are expensive - I think that is one of the biggest budget set backs most young folks have. Good luck.

I feel so badly for you! I don't know if this is an option for you, but we used Tuition Management Systems (afford.com) to pay our kids' tuitions over the course of time. We paid a $60 fee for the year and they paid the universities the tuition at the start of the semesters. The costs were divided into 5 equal payments spread out over time and we paid TMS. The first was due in April for the Fall semester and we were done paying for the fall with the September payment (instead of paying the school one lump sum by August).

I didn't know about that option! I will definitely look into it. And thanks everyone for the support. I knew when I chose this private university that it'd be expensive, and since I got minimal scholarship, I try to pay as much out of pocket as possible. Thanks again everyone for the support. I just hope after sinking $800 into my darn car she runs for a while!
