Hi everyone kind of new here I have been lurking in the corner reading everyones posts ( you guys have some great ideas) and I decided to say hello. I am having a intimate wedding in sept. My DF and I are not really going with the traditional wedding for instance I decided I didnt really want to do the White dress instead I am doing a elegant black gown, and we arent using traditional music instead we are using songs from games. These songs are beautiful and no one at the wedding will actually know they are from games unless we tell (one exception DF wants to enter to the Zelda theme). So I was just wondering if anyone else has used any unique songs.

Our first dance is going to be "Eye's on You" from Final Fantasy VIII. I think your wedding should reflect you as a couple.

Actually most of our music is Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts we are still trying to narrow down the songs. So many beautiful ones to pick from.

I am still trying to decide if I want to walk down the aisle to Suteki Da Ne (isn't it beautiful) or Holding My Thoughts in My Heart. Listening to you song now its so pretty :)

I think our recessional is going to be Melodies of Life. Then I just have to decide between the two I have chosen for the bridal party which are both from Kingdom Hearts Isn't it Lovely and Dearly Beloved. I also love Holding my thoughts in my Heart but DF isnt so sure since its a sad song. I told him only he knows its sad our family wont know that they dont play games. Then I heard Isn't it Beautiful and I like that one too :confused3 so listening to them over and over to decide.

WOW...DF and I were just having this same conversation! We really want to incorporate music from FF and KH and these are some of the songs I suggested to him! I was a little scared that we'd look "weird" using such non-traditional music...but then again...aren't we all a bit strange?? ;)

(one exception DF wants to enter to the Zelda theme).

now THAT is FANTASTIC!!! LOL I love Zelda (and now the theme song is running through my head)!

That is so unique that you are using all game songs. DH loves FF and I love the stories/music/cut scenes...also from KH too...

So not appropriate but I love the chocobo theme and also the fanfare that plays when you win a battle...you could play that right after you kiss! I'm just kidding, of course. I really love your idea! :thumbsup2

p.s. I totally forgot to say "Welcome to the DIS!" :)

Hi frenort21!

While I am not familiar with those songs (does anyone know if you can find them on iTunes? Then I can give them a listen!), I think the best part about DISBoards is that everyone does something different for their wedding!!! It's definitely welcome here, and I, personally, can't wait to hear about all your planning!

I was kind of worried that no one would want to hear about my wedding plans for a couture collection wedding because it was something so new and different, but I've had a lot of positive feedback from people and it's been well worth posting!

I hope you too will continue to share your wedding plans, even if it's not with the "pure" white gown and bridal march that weddings are stereotyped to have! Besides, that's so boring anyways... it's only been done like a billion times of the last hundred years! :rotfl2:

BTW, I love your name, frenort21. When my sister was a baby she couldn't say Courtney so she called me Nortney, which was eventually shortened to Nort. Your name brought back a ton of memories for me!!!

By all means your wedding should reflect who you are!
DH and I could not even begin to see ourselves doing a unity candle or sand ceremony. Everything we do is on the silly side so I couldn't imagine something that always seems so serious.
We were really struggling with our ceremony and how to make it our own. I was asking my WP for ideas and she gave me one that eventually led to what we did. We are big collectors of all things Disney and lots of pop culture stuff so we invented the bobblehead ceremony. DH loves bobbleheads and when we saw the Mickey & Minnie wedding bobbles we said that's for us! I wrote a ceremony that sounded serious but was hysterical when read by the minister. Everyone was busting with laughter so that was right up our alley.

We were going to read our vows but ended up ditching them at the last minute because I didn't think I could get through mine. DHs were a bunch of sitcom theme songs strung together and mine was a collection of lyrics from Disney songs. We wanted to do it like it was a dramatic reading.

That sound awesome!! What a great time you and your guests must have had! DF is really into video game music...he likes to play the games too but he's a musician by hobby and writes great stuff...but he specializes in video game music and loves remaking classic games and his favorite FF and KH stuff. He eventually sucked me into the Kingdom Hearts world and I love it! This means a lot to us so I'm glad we'll be incorporating it.

Thank you guys I was worried it would be wierd myself but then thought what the heck I was never "normal" to begin with so why not (plus the wedding march was a big NO anyways since growing up my father would always sing "Here comes the bride big fat and wide" so I nixed that song a
long time back.
Cryssi we did think about the Chocobo theme my DF said I should walk down the aisle to it :rotfl: I couldnt do it though I said we should exit to it he didnt agree so it got bumped. Cute song though
Kashmir if you type the songs into google video you should be able to find most of them. Glad my name could bring back good memories :).
Aprincess72 Your wedding sounds like it would have been a blast. I wanted to incorperate a lot of humor but my DF wants it to be a bit more serious atleast we have the Zelda theme :)

There is no such thing as a "normal" wedding anymore...I think everyone has such unique, great ideas here! Thanks for sharing. I'll be coming down the "aisle" (YCG...not really an aisle!) to The Minstrel Boy from the Corr's album...gorgeous!!

Being a musician and having performed the music at a bazillion weddings, my guests will only expect something way non-traditional from me!!

Do what reflects you best (and your DF of course!)

LMAO!!! DF just told me he'd like to use the zozo theme (slam shuffle) for our recessional! Everytime I hear that song I have to dance! :rotfl2: I think he might just be on to something...what a fun way to end the wedding!!! :lmao:

Luv4mylittleones just listened to ZoZo :rotfl: that is great!! If we did that I would have the urge to skip out of the WP:mickeyjum

HAHA...that's exactly what I was picturing and why I was dying with laughter...can you just imagine??? :lmao: That being said...it would be totally like me!!! :rotfl2:

That would be a different exit I suppose. I have heard of walking and even heard of people running, but skipping would be a new one to me.

I love everyone's choice of music here!! I thought about using the zelda theme too, but a friend of Jim's did that and i didn't want to look like a copy-cat. We did use "non-traditional" in the sense that most of it was Disney music! (of course that's traditional for us here on the DIS isn't it! :rotfl: ) We were going to use some star wars music, but I decided i'd rather have disney music than sw music. We DID use "can you read my mind", which is the love theme from the original superman movie, for when the groom/groomsmen/officiant were taking their seats. We hired a guitar and flute duo, and the song turned out lovely! I think any type of music being performed by good musicians will turn out sounding elegant! I have an mp3 of that song uploaded here if you want to see what i mean http://jimcorbin.homestead.com/files/Superwedding.mp3

Your wedding sounds lovely, have fun planning! princess:
