The bus drivers from the OCTA are on strike. Buses are not running to full capacity. I don't know if any of you were planning on using the bus system but I just wanted to give you a heads up.

Rats! This is going to mess up my plans for getting to and from my workshop at Chapman Univ. I wonder how long this will go on...any idea?

Thanks for the heads up, BMom. :upsidedow

No I don't know how long. On the news they said that the last time they were on strike (1986) it was for 12 or 13 days.

I would plan on at least 2-3 weeks of this wonderful strike (sorry for those of use that live here and own a car enjoy the lighter traffic, basically the busses cause about 30-40% of all of the traffic in the LA area, even with just the OC busses on strike I get home in about 15-20 minutes after work instead of 30-60 minutes.) Oh and I don't live or work in OC, I just drive towards OC to get home.

shoot...i booked my hotel through hotwire and it's about a mile away, was planning on taking the bus to and from disney...i will be there august 6-8 hopefully everything works out by then.

Half of the lines are still running but on a limited schedule. You have to check on their site (OCTA.net) for the complete list and time schedule. The Harbor Blvd. line (from Fullerton to Costa Mesa) will be running from 6am-6pm weekly and it will be for free.

If you want current info go straight to the source.... http://www.octa.net

31 out of 81 lines are in limited service because they are contracted lines and are not affected by the strike. The Harbor Blvd line from Fullerton to Costa Mesa is running only during the weekdays 6a-6pm. I think I said in an earlier post it was 7 days...its only 5 days (weekday). Fare is also free for that line.

FYI- there's an MTA bus that services Disneyland to/from LA. For that info, you might want to check the MTA website (www.metro.net).

Well, i think its a really dumb reason to strike though...

The management wants to spread the increase amoung everyone... but they are all striking because they want the older, veteran drivers to have the increase....

I dont get it. :\

humm tough call how about every one have same amount if there doing same job. ppl there longer then 5years get 2dollers more an hour..idk im dumb some times but they shouldnt strike they should try work things out.
