I enjoy reading others posts about their trips...and since I haven't got to put into words my Valentines week trip...thought I'd share... hope it doesn't bore you!!
We drove down on a Saturday evening... and checked into our crappy hotel (HOJO Disney = NEVER stay there!!) Went and saw some sights, ate at the best seafood place ever...LANDRYS, the food made up for the ok service.. and then decided we'd do Magic Kingdom the following morning. - After a bad nights sleep (due to the crappy hotel I mentioned) we headed out to Magic Kingdom. My youngest was finally tall enough to ride Splash Mountain..so that was a plus!! The crowds were minimal...and although I was bummed Its a Small World was closed...we had a great day. I was also bummed they were setting up for the May anniversary...because you couldn't get a good view directly in front of the castle due to walls put up, but we got some good side view pictures. But...I always feel magical at MK, so it was all good
The new STITCH ESCAPE was fun...cept the stinky chilidogs...LOL - We kept the kids up long enough to watch the fireworks and parade...then my youngest konked out..and we waited out the crowds by strolling down Main Street and taking a look in the Kodak theatre...I never got to look in there before!
That night...we cancelled our previous hotel and stayed at the Clarion..since we intended the rest of our trip to be at Universal (my 1st time at Universal).. we had a 5 day pass... great deal, all 4 of us for 5 days for 250!!!
Anyways...the next day we went to the Titanic Exhibition, I'm a big Titanic junkie, so I found it soo fascinating. Turns out one of the ladies on the tour with us was the great granddaughter of the jerk who made the ship go full steam ahead then hopped on a life boat to save himself..ISMAY!! Our tourguide was amazing!! - My oldest got her picture taken with some beautiful parrots at the Mercado, then that evening we went to CityWalk.
Next day, we went to Universal Studios...loved the scenery...but didn't have that same feel Disney has. Our first ride was Twister..my daughters cracked up at the flying cow...but were a little freaked overall. SHREK 4D was great, cept my little one FREAKED at the spiders in her lap...continued to scream while everyone else laughed! Jaws was great...and I got to be part of the backlot tour as the captain who gets drenched..LOL -We had that park done in no time..so we went to our hotel and hung out at the pool for awhile. - Next day...ISLANDS of ADVENTURE..reminded me of our local 6 Flags, BUT...the scenery made for awesome pictures when I developed them.. and the rides were fun, just my youngest is a thrill seeker....just too short to enjoy most of them! We loved Popeye and Bluto River RIde (was that US or IOA???) -got drenched!! Spent more time at RiverWalk... and that was that day..
Next day we hung out by the pool, then in the evening went to OLD TOWN, and my oldest DD9 decided to ride the worlds tallest skycoaster with her dad.. I wasn't happy about it... but she did it!! 365 foot drop... CRAZY!! Hubby's arm was broke...so he didn't get to ride much else (funny, them parks allowed it...carnival said nope) - Me n the girls had a blast tho!!
The next day, there was somethings I didn't get to do at Universal that I wanted...mainly shop..LOL, so hubby took DD9 to IOA, and DD4 and I went to US again... that evening we went back to Old Town, hubby cut off his cast and he rode rides this time!! My daughters rode the mechanical bull, oldest got braids and they sang karaoke at a biker bar
it was great!
That night I convinced hubby to take us to MGM...my Disney itch wasn't completely scratched...and Tower of Terror is my oldest DD and my fave ride!!
Next morning...off to MGM...bummed that they were closing at 7 tho!! Straight to TOT, and my DD4 got to ride!! In fact...we rode it 5 times.. and the 4th time we all had our hands up in the picture...so we bought it!! Everytime we got off the ride...little one was saying "Let's do that AGAIN!" People were amazed...and we were loving it!!
We were bummed the day we were leaving...but decided to head to Daytona for a couple hrs...OOPS...Daytona 500... LOL, it was packed!! And...not to mention, freezing cold!! Stayed for about an hour...drove up the coast thru St Augustine and Jax..then back to 75N to Atlanta... what should have taken 7 hrs, took about 12... ohwell...who wants to go home anyways??
