I had jury duty about seven or eight years ago. The initial summons was for two weeks, but I got selected for a trial that was estimated to run six weeks. It ended up lasting thirteen weeks!
I was lucky that my job still paid me full salary on top of the jury pay, so I didn't have any loss there. I found it very interesting and saw how different a real trial is from those we see on television. Huge difference! We were all treated very well and I would do it again.
I did see how some other members of the jury had to deal with hardships such as loss of salary and one even lost her job. I believe the judge got involved in that but I never heard the outcome.
The prosecution had over 30,000 pieces of evidence and the judge explained exactly what we needed for a conviction. We double checked and triple checked ourselves to make sure we were clear that we had all the answers and convicted the defendant on both charges.
Folks, never cheat on your taxes... trust me!
