DH just got a jury duty summons during our scheduled trip in April. :headache:

Does a scheduled cross country camping trip count as an excuse to get out of jury duty? :confused3

Is it a Civil or Criminal trial? If it is Civil, tell them you work in insurance, if it is criminal, tell them you are for the death penalty in ALL cases.

I would call the jury commissioner's office and explain the situation. They might postpone your service date. I received a jury summons once in college on the same day as a final and the court postponed by date by about a month so that there was no conflict.

Bummer. In Tarrant County (Fort Worth) Texas, you can call the number provided and request to be rescheduled once. I don't know about Federal jury duty. Never been called.

It did for me, but it will depend on the official you have to deal with. If
they're of the "Weight Police" mentality ......then NO!!!:rolleyes1popcorn::

Just tell them that as a proud American, you look forward to fulfilling your civic duty as a juror and it makes you feel as though youre contributing a neccessary act to ensure that this great country strives on the justice that the rest of the world envies us for, and as long as the aliens dont return to take you with them this time, like they always promise they will, you see no reason that you wont be able to stand jury and be a useful tool in the persuit of peace, justice, and the American way.

PREJUDICE! i would think if you really voice how feel (or act that you feel) about people or things, they won't want you. :)

Maybe I'll send him in to the clerk's office in a tinfoil hat.

Shhhhhh! They're listening.

Keep epeating to the clerk "I have new underpants on" about 6 times the ask if he/she want to see them. Smile and repeat.

I always tell them, great! I know I will be an excellent juror I can always tell if someone is guilty just by looking at them.. They never let me prove it ... I don't know why

I believe you can postpone jury service for six months. Make no mistake...they WILL send you another notice in six months. So you probably shouldn't plan any trips for whatever that month happens to be.
Once you are called..and you show up..THEN there are a multitude of reasons why they may not choose to use you. :rolleyes1 However you have to show up...for them to send you home!
Bob's been called for civil...and criminal trails. They didn't want him.
Civil...because we've been involved in a civil lawsuit. Criminal..because our son is a cop. They don't want law and order types...go figure.

Somebody tell Rog that his account has been hacked. Larry is posting under his name. :lmao:

Or (if she's cute) you could keep repeating "Do you have new underpants on?" Then ask to see them.

Ask if anyone wants to see your freshly made skid marks . And then let them know that you don't own a car.

or you could just "Deem" yourself excused pixiedust:

"I'm sorry. I cannot attend jury duty because I am currently dead. I will be happy to notify you if this situation changes." Just make sure the signature is shaky. Use the return address of a local funeral home (or maybe Chuck E. Cheese). For added effect, have it notarized.

Don't you just love how helpful we are? When I got a jury summons last September I had the option of deferring it once. I didn't really have an excuse, so I went ahead and got it over with. Yo might see if you can do a one-time deferral. After all, this can't be the first time they hit someone during vacation plans.
