Jungle Cruise is now running the Assistive Listening System on all boats. Use of the lift boats has also been streamlined.

Safari Steve, It has been a year since I last visited MK, at which time the lift boats were not yet operating. Does this mean that I will be able to ride Jungle Cruise next time I visit? (I cannot transfer out of my electric powered wheelchair but it does fit on Buzz Lightyear, Universe of Energy and the Mexico boat ride)

What type of assistive listening devices? Does this mean they are going to stop interpreting it on the schedule? I certainly hope not as I find most ALD's inadequete for me.

The ALDs that they offer at Guest relations (looks like a stethescope without the tube and little disc on the end). Yes, interpreting will continue, as the ALDs only work for people who have limited hearing, not those who have no hearing. (If you're totally deaf, how are you going to use an ALD?)

Ok those won't work with me. Better stick to the terps.

thanks for the good news on the lift - I believe we will finally hit the cruise in the Spring!!

Sue

i agree. It is good news.
We'll try to check it out this Spring too.
Off the subject, does anyone know of a list of rides that are usually accessible with a power wheelchair? I know that some wheelchairs may not fit even on some accessible rides becasue of their exact "footprint". We are thinking of bringing DD's power wheelchair in the Spring (although the thought of it being on an airplane is not the most cheery), but we won't do it if it will further limit the rides she can go on. We can lift her out, but she's pretty big to do it too many times a day.

We won;t be there til June!
However I haven't been on it for years so look forward to it!

Merry Christmas to all!

Linda

just got back and the boat was wonderful. Sue you can't ride on alladin with a power chair.

thanks, pugdog. That's one DD likes.
What we're looking into now is renting a power chair down in Orlando and just taking her manual chair (Suggestion from the guy who does her power chair repairs).

Just an update... Due to technical difficulties experienced on January 1st, the Jungle Cruise wheelchair lift is on hiatus so that more kinks can be worked out. Sorry for the disappointment, but hopefully it won't take another 30 years...

I was there on Monday Jan 6 but didn't ask to use the boat because I can transfer fairly easily frm my wheelchair. I do remember the castmembers eying it but they never asked me if I could transfer since the interpreter let them know upfront that it was not a problem.
In fact none of the castmembers even approached me this time as I waited for the interpreter. I think they all recognize me and know I'm waiting for the terp.

well I was going to post a WHOOHOO!! until I saw Steve's update...be sure to let us know if they fix things again Steve :)

That must be one way complicated boat. Thanks for the update.
