Disney Movie Review:
Jungle Book (2016)
This is what a Disney live action remake should strive to always achieve. Jon Favreau's version of the man-cub in the wild story is filled with thrilling action and adventure and sprinkled with call backs to the 1967 animated feature. There are a few new takes on classic Disney songs including "I Wanna' Be Like You" and "Trust in Me". It has an incredible all-star list of actors portraying the voice cast for the CG characters but is lead by the very real and outstanding Neel Sethi who plays Mowgli. Bill Murray as Baloo, Ben Kingsley as Bagheera, and Scarlett Johansson as Kaa steal the show in my opinion. The special effects truly are stunning as the entire jungle and residents in it were all shot on green screen in LA. Because the animals are so realistic, and because there are some dramatic fighting scenes it might be a little too intense for some. Seven year old Tara says she was never afraid but there are jump out of your seat jolts. Overall it's fun romp with a great story. 4 out of 5 Bear Necessities.
