Jungle Josh's Trip Report
Part 2:
Jungle Adventures: A long drive and the POFQ
The Players:
Jungle Josh (22/m) - Former WDW Cast Member, Disney Fanatic.
Cousin A (22/m) - My best friend, a little nervous, quiet type.
Little Cousin B (10/f) - First trip away from her parents, never spent more than 2 days at WDW.
Our Aunt (55/f) - Buisnesswoman, loves to spend time at WDW relaxing as opposed to running the parks 24/7, has a walking handicap.
Little Cousin C (6/m) - will arrive with his parents later in the trip...Cousin B's brother.
Cousin D (34/m) - B and C's Dad, will join us later in the trip
Cousin D's DW (32/f) - Will join us later in the trip.

So we were finally off on vacation, 4 tired and excited people with way to much luggage piled into our van, speeding toward the most magical place in the world...WDW.
The first leg of our trip was a 7 hour drive from Owensboro to Perry, Georgia. We had reserved rooms at the Hampton Inn in Perry. The drive was fairly uneventful, Little Cousin B (10/f) watched movies on the DVD player the whole way down, while the three "adults" took turns driving. It was an easy drive, but by 1:30am local time, we were more than ready for some sleep. My parents called several times during the drive to fill me in on the Cardinals v Cubs game (Cards won!
).
We arrvied in Perry and found that the Hapton we had reserved was under some heavy construction...to get to the front desk we had to park on one side of the building, walk around to a back door by the swimming pool and run thruogh a maze of hallways to get to the desk. We had 2 rooms, on opposite ends of the building, and getting the overnight luggage (including my aunts medical supplies) proved to be a task...but by 2:30 everyone was asleep.
At 7:30 am, the phone in my room rings....it's my aunt....shes ready to go...I get up, take a cold shower, run to the free breakfast and attempt to brush off the sleep left in my eyes. We're back on the road by 9am.
This morning, there is a bit more traffic, making the drive a bit longer than expected. We stopped in Ocala and had lunch at the Chick-fil-a. I wasn't hungry so while everyone else ate I started wondering around a nearby shopping center. I found a big and tall mens shop and ended up buy a coupld of pairs of shorts....this means I dont have to do any laundry while I am at WDW...so I am excited by this point.
On the road again, the excitement continues to grow, but the traffic grows more dense as we approach 192...then it begins to pour down rain, brings traffic to a virtual dead stop....people in FGL cant drive in the rain..it's as if the sky is falling..I have always been amused by this.
At around 3pm we pull into the POFQ parking lot, I run inside to checkin only to be met by a line a mile long. And to my surprise there are a total of 2 CM's at the front desk...wait...make that 1 CM, as the second one shouts to here co-worker..."hey, it's time for my break, I'll be back in 30"
My jaw dropped...what happend to service? she not only left, but made it known why and everyone in the line heard her. Well 35 minutes later, I am still in line and the CM returns from her break...after 45 mins 1 more CM joins them....and after 1 full hour in line, I finally get to the desk. I had the original CM who had worked diligently since I had arrived. I thanks her for her hard work and was happy to find that my rooms were available and waiting for us.
We were in building 3, 1st floor, close to the parking lot and main building. Just as I had requested. We had two connecting rooms. We opened the door to find a Poster on the wall welcoming my family to the Port Orleans resort and an autographed card from Micky and Minnie Mouse on the table welcoming my little cousin. She thought this was the single coolest thing EVER! I was pretty impressed (and surprised to say the least) as well.
We settled in, kicked off our shoes, freshened up and decided to have a nice dinner. We went to the Rainforest Cafe at the AK and had a wonderful meal. Little Cousin indulged with a HUGE icee for dessert. We were finished eating and it was so nice outside we couldn't waste perfect evening...what next? Miniature golf!
We went to Fantasia Gardens and played the 18 hole Gardens course...it was tough, especially on some tired bodies, and to be honest, by the 9th hole, noone was really trying anymore...we were just having good old fun laughing at each other and hacking away at the ball.
At one point, I knocked a ball off one rock wall, ricocheting off of another rock wall, off the flag and into the lake...this caused uncontrollable laughter that lasted a full 20 minutes. Little cousin said she laughed so hard her stomach hurt....we finished the game and headed back to the hotel. I must say, I loved having ESPN News channel...all the sports I need all in one place...The Cardinals won one heck of baseball game, got to see the highlights.made me giddy! Whats better than a cardinal win while Im at WDW? NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!
Everyone settled in a fell asleep around midnight...tomorrow we'd head to the AK and then Enight that night....we were going to need our sleep....I slept like a baby until 630am when I was awakened by the shrill sound of my aunts voice..."JOSH...!!!!!"
I sat up straight in my bed, didn't know where I was and terrified!
What was wrong? Was the world collapsing around me? Had it all been a dream so far? The answers..coming soon.
