Sure this has been asked a thousand times, but...

What is weather like 1st week of June? We've been late August and know about the unbearable heat :sunny: and daily afternoon showers :umbrella: . Is June similar? Better or worse?

Reason I ask - kids have standardized testing in May and I'd REALLY like to take DS to Star Wars weekend, so that leaves June... (oh yeah, DW and DD can come too :rotfl: ) DW has heard it rains constantly, but I'm not one to listen to reason, so I'm hoping someone can tell me it's not so or lie to me :rolleyes1

Going May 31 thru June 10 too. And would like to know the same. I've been to Ft. Lauderdale once in July and it was really humid. I'm from Arizona.

I really hope it doesn't rain that much. We are also going the end of May, first of June. We even thought about adding the water parks to our tickets.
Maybe we should rethink that.
Oh well, a little rain never hurt anyone. At least we'll be in Disney! :umbrella:

Generally speaking, the beginning of June is very hot, but not as relentless as July and August. Average highs are around 90 with morning lows near 70. Realistically you can expect afternoon highs anywhere between 88 and 95.

What BYoung said above is true: last June was exceptionally rainy in Orlando (more than 17 inches of rain fell in the month vs. an average of about 7). However, that is not typical.

Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are typical, but usually not 17 inches' worth!

Have fun,
Bob

We are also booked for the 1st week of June (the 3rd - 11th). DH and I went this same week in 2000 and we had excellent weather (in the low 90s, sunny) and average sized crowds.

Hopefully it won't rain like last year!! :sunny:

We went the first week of June this year and it was sooooo hot. We vowed never to go again during summer months!

It was rainy during our stay like others have mentioned but except for I think one whole day of rain, it was mostly just the typical afternoon showers.

But I just hated the humidity more than anything, you felt drenched from the moment you stepped out the door of the resort. I was so glad for once that I am an overpacker because we ended up back at the resort by late afternoon every day to swim and then change clothes - our clothes were so sweaty there was no way we could use them again!

For us, comparing it to our last trip in January, it was also the crowds that were unbearable too. In January we saw just about everything in each park that we wanted to with hardly any waits, did no advance dining reservations, and even had time to relax. In June, we didn't accomplish half of what we wanted to see/ride in the park and luckily had made ADR's because we were traveling with extended family otherwise I'm not sure how we would have eaten without two hour waits.

I hope this isn't a discouraging report! We chose June because the kids had just gotten off school, etc. But now we feel its worth taking them out in the winter to avoid the heat and the crowds!

We go every year for the first week in June. It is HOT and HUMID, typical Florida weather, and you just feel WET from the humidity all the time. It rains every day. Sometime just that usual shower and then it is gone. Sometimes it rains all day. Just an FYI, the first weekend in June is gay day at WDW - not a sanctioned event by Disney. We didn't know this and couldn't understand what all the red shirts were about, until we read them and started to really take notice. Oh, well, didn't bother us.

We had light showers a couple of afternoons in 2001, but not enough to ruin any plans. The only thing that I was really disappointed by was the cancellation of Tinkerbell's flight during the MK fireworks. :confused3

The heat really is something to be considered. We always go late May/early June. Since we live in La., we're used to the heat and humidity and it still gets to us.

Over the last several years, we have found that it does rain frequently. We have had everything from regular short lived afternoon thunderstorms to violent storms with lots of lightening. Last year was the worst. It rained every day. So much so that it was foggy (very humid) and overcast for the duration of our trip. I didn't really realize just how much it rained until I looked at our pictures when we got home. There is not one picture with blue sky in it (I'm not kidding). :umbrella:

It actually rained so hard one day that it got into my eyes and I couldn't see anything (I wear contacts). I had to go back to the hotel and clean them. We would also have to go back and change clothes occasionally because the atmosphere stayed damp and nothing would dry out on its own. Ponchos are nice, but if we're in for the same thing this year, I'm hoping for gills and webbed feet!!! :fish:

Like I said, we're used to it...have the same kind of weather at home...so it doesn't really affect our decision to go...but I am hoping for a few sunny days this year!!!! :sunny:

We have been visiting WDW during early June for the past 4 years. It is hot and humid (I think I read somewhere that people in Florida refer to it as the 90/90's--humidity and temperature both in the 90's :sunny: ). With the exception of June 2004 we have not really been slowed down by rain. It typically rains once a day--usually in late afternoon--and then clears up. It can't be too bad - we are coming back again June 4-15

We go June 5-12. Getting excited and was wondering if any of you prior June Disney folks had any suggestions on strategy or best times to visit the parks? I know it's going to be hot. We live in Arizona and understand heat, but the humidity is going to be a shock to our system.
