Aloha,

We will be visiting DL and nearby attractions 6/7-13. First time we are coming at this time of year. I am hoping that schools will still be in session or it is too soon after they let out for vacations and so the crowds will be sort of light. What do you think?

Will it be warm during the day and cool at night? What are the usual temperatures at that time of year? We are all a little sensitive to cold and think 60 is freezing. LOL

We are trying to plan where to go and on which day...we will be traveling by charter bus to all points. Tenatively - Friday and Saturday : DL; Sunday: Seaworld; Monday: Knotts Berry;
Tuesday: Universal; and Wednesday: DL. We chose DL for Fri and Sat because of the parade and fireworks schedules; Sun for SW because it is quite a ride and we thought traffic may be lighter then and so less time consuming; Tues for Universal because I read somewhere it is the least crowded day there; and last day Wens, DL. But I also heard that Universal doesn't have it shows on weekdays, only weekends. Does anyone know if this is true? What do you think of our plan? Any suggestions?

Mahalo for your help,
Donna

Hi Donna!

The schools here go to mid-late June so they won't be out when you visit, don't worry about that.

Temps can be varied, highs in the 70s and maybe 80s during the day, and it definitely cools down at night into the 60s or even 50s. Definitely bring jackets. I think 60 is freezing too. :)

Your plan sounds great, my only caution is on Sunday evenings the route between San Diego and Anaheim can be packed with folks returning from weekend travel. I don't know about Universal and their shows so I can't help with that.

Have a wonderful time! :)

Donna,

I think that Universal has info on their website about schedules, etc. just like disneyland. You might want to check it out!:)

**Well, I just went on the site myself...it wasn't much help at all!! Sorry about that! I seemed to remember getting more info about Universal-Orlando before we went in Nov. '01. Hopefully someone who lives locally can help you out more!--Sorry!**
Have fun!
Sue:)

Don't know about Universal's show schedule but next time I'm there I'll take a look at what they have during the week. Most places here do start there summer hours in june, most the them the beginning of june, some not till the middle. DL has grad nights that in may and the beginning of june, so there hours aren't open as late (and might not have some of the night time entertainment). Fantasmic won't be up until the middle of june ( I want to say it's June 15th, but I could be wrong about that date) so you'll probably miss it.

Saturday's (and friday afternoons) will be more crowded that during the week. There will me more crowds at DL in june that say in the fall, but most of the rides will be open. (Sorry I don't have the closure schedule in front of me).

I would check back closer for times they are open they may change before then.

Donna

Mahalo for all your input!
Looks like we will have to layer clothes just like we do when we come off-season. Hopefully we will bring our weather with us and it will be comfortable for everyone. ;)
Any suggestions on how I can get Universal info without having to call them long distance?
We have never been to Sea World San Diego, but went to the Orlando one last year. Any suggestions for things not to miss?
Aloha,
Donna

I think DL considers 6/20 the start of the official summer season....that's when the 2 month blackout season starts for So. Calif. Annual Passholders. So timewise you should be alright.

I agree about driving back from SW on Sunday - make sure you don't get caught in the "returning home from the weekend" traffic.

Happy to hear that schools are still in session in CA. Here in Utah, schools are out at the end of May, so we were hoping to beat the crowds by going down first week of June. To avoid the crowds on the first Sat of June, we will do Knotts that day.

We will also visit Universal, and we have been to Universal many times on weekdays, low season and high season and they always have their shows. I would be very surprised if they changed it, but you better check with Universal.
