So for those of us that have a June UY with points that are about to expire due to trips being cancelled, and as if we don't have enough to worry about we have the the 4/17 RCI deadline looming. What are you choosing to do with your points? How many points are you possibly about to lose and are you planning on transferring to RCI or sitting tight to see if DVC does anything???

I have 90 points and I'm so torn on what to do. I looked into RCI and there doesn't seem to be anything for only 90 points. Part of me says just wait it out and see if anything happens and if nothing happens then just consider myself lucky to be alive instead of pissed at DVC.

Sadly we have 300 points in June UY for a May trip that are going to be null. Overall we are pretty distraught with DVC doing nothing for April/June UY. I know of the antithesis arguments from other members for DVC to do nothing for us and feel they are flawed and selfish.

While we have considered RCI, this also removes any leverage from us if DVC does see the light and follows the moral examples of many like organizations in coming up with compensation or re-allotment for the points of these two UY.

FWIW, I don't think it's hopeless just yet. Once the extent of the closures is known, DVC has said they will look into improving situations like yours. I am still hopeful they will come up with something to ease the loss. 🤞🤞

We had 74 2019 points I was using at aulani along with a lot of borrowed points. I had even bought 24 extra points to use. We were supposed to go on may 11. When I cancelled I got back all the borrowed points And they refunded the cost of the 24 purchased points. But I’m in the same boat as you with the other 74 points. I just called yesterday and put 70 of them in RCI. They only take even numbers so it had to be 70 or I had to use even more points to make it 80. I didn’t want to do that so I’ll probably lose the 4 remaining points. The CS R told me for 70 points we could get a studio for a week during RCI version of value season. It’s good until 2022. I’ll probably just give them to one of the kids to use.

It’s annoying to not get them back. I’ve read the arguments that we should have known better than to use points so late in the UY We always go to aulani in may and I save up my points for exactly that purpose. It’s never been a problem. I don’t understand the rationale about why Disney just can’t move those points over to the next year. The whole discussion about inventory blah blah goes over my head. We paid for those points. I’ve paid maintenance on those points. If I had cancelled for a personal reason than I get why it’s my fault. But this unexpected disaster that affects the entire world is beyond anyone’s control. And Disney should have Some strategy in their system to make people whole in the case of unforeseen events like this.

74 points isn’t the end of the world. I’ve read many other stories with people losing hundreds of points. And yes even the RCI transfer I consider this a loss of points since now I’m going to have to figure out when they can be used and will have to pay a fee to use them on top of what I already paid for their annual maintenance.

Thanks Carol! We are crossing fingers, too!

The $95 fee for RCI has been waived for the past couple of years or so. Unless you choose a resort that has additional fees (like an AI fee, housekeeping fee, etc.), there is no fee for RCI.

It's still disappointing to have to use them for an RCI exchange if that isn't something you wanted to do. Sorry for your situation.

Add August to that list as well. I had a Disney Collection reservation at the GCH. My "reservation" points will expire on July 31st along with all my banked points too. Right now I have 610 points at risk.

April UYs had the potential to be affected -- but, had to be a small percentage of owners overall. An April UY would have had to be traveling in the very last two weeks of their UY to be affected.

June UYs are in the worst spot and August UYs depending on their points is closely following.

I completely agree with your sentiment. Just a real shame and disappointment to say the least.

we have 200 August Use year points booked at poly May 22. We are not interested in RCI so we are going to take our chances to see what dvc comes up with as solution.

June UY 200 points. We are the following the wait and see approach. We don’t care for RCI plus from what I have read here good resorts go almost a year in advance. We are one month in advance vacation kinda folks so that RCI nonsense will not work for us.

For those with a June YU, can anyone confirm the last day that you can do the RCI exchange and be at the 45 day window? Can you do it ON 4/17 (Friday) and still be fine? Or does it need be done on 4/16 (Thursday)? It isn't clear to me from the Terms if it has to be the day before or not. Anyone had an official answer from DVC Member Services on that?

Just want to wait as long as we can to see if anything is announced before doing the transfer -- but still doing it in the >45 day window so that they can be used for a long time. Thanks.

I'm stuck with 224 points. Have a 1-BR at Grand Floridian that would begin May 8 for a few days. Was a gift to my wife for Mother's Day. I banked all my other points before January 31 in anticipation of a big family vacation.

I am disappointed in the action/inaction of DVC, but I also understand the uncertainty around this situation. A little reassurance would be nice. Also, some flexibility with the upcoming RCI deadline would be good too.

I thought the deadline was Thursday, April 16th. But, I have a friend that spoke with a DVCM by phone and they told her April 17th. I'd call DVC MS and confirm.

Good question! They made it seem like the deadline was 4/17 which makes me feel like it's ok to do it that day. I'm just afraid the wait times will be INSANE if we wait until Friday though.

I have 395 points that I will lose. I had a reservation for the Disney Collection at the BWI in March which was changed, because of closure, to the GF for April and then it was cancelled due to closure. I don't want to lose them but am undecided about RCI. There are some really nice places to exhange to with RCI if you can get them. The Registry Collection are the only resorts that can compare to the DVC resorts and they take a lot of points. The DVC resorts are also on RCI but I am not sure what the point exchange is and it is very rare that one comes open. With the April 17th RCI deadline, DVC should have already made some type of decision so we could make an informed choice about our points. Instead some, possibly me, will put their points in RCI to keep from losing them. The other option is to hope DVC/Disney will take care of their owners. Since they have not made any decisions, the best thing would be for the RCI deposit date deadline to be moved to May or possibly June.

Can reservation points be deposited to RCI? I believe that DVC can not trade into other Orlando area resorts, including the DVC villas you see on RCI.

You know when we got our contract to sign in March last month I was about to sign it. Then the NBA shutdown and then the NHL so I held off, then Disneyland and WDW closed. Now I'm not sure what I'm going to do with our contract. We paid in full in cash and we are just kind of waiting to see what happens. If we can't go in July or possibly over Thanksgiving week there's no reason for us to jump to buy Direct if we cant go this year since the 2019 points wont be usable for us since the Wife is a Teacher and we can only go in June, or July, or Thanksgiving week. This all really stinks.

I have had two CMs tell me I could deposit to RCI but that doesn't mean they know what they are talking about. Rules seem to change everytime you talk to a new CM. I would not use RCI to trade to the Orlando area or DVC.
