I will be at DL June 7th - 12th!!! :cool1: I will be upgrading my PH's to AP's after I use my day of EE (and staying offsite, so nothing extra)

So the question - should I burn my EE to run and stand in line for Nemo on the 11th and skip the fantasyland benefit this trip??? :confused3 I have never been to DL during a major opening - so unsure of the best plan!!! I have no problem being at the gates early - but my tent is staying home!!! :rotfl:

Please help!!!

I've never been to DL during a major opening, either. But, I would probably use EE on Nemo, as that will be a popular, to the max, ride. Then I would get to the gates early on a non-EE day to make a break for FantasyLand.

I would plan on getting into the queue about 20 minutes prior to scheduled closing. That way a lot of your wait might be after the park is closed (assuming that the doesen't close at sunset) but at least you won't have to waste the nice empty morning hours.

I wonder if this ride will get a fastpass, seeing as its new and a big draw and all......:confused3

We are planning to go on it on a Wednesday - so that there is no EE and we can run straight there (it is in Tomorrow Land, right?? - DL newbie here). Anyhow, if this isn't a possibility for you so taht you can use your EE day, then I would go straght there and wait (wasting the EE day) because all these people are going to pile up there Monday and Tuesday (both being EE days, right?). Then, by the time you get there there will have been people piling up for a whole hour. . . . and if tons of people do this there can be a several hours wait by the time the park actually opens.

I am still trying to figure how we are going to do Nemo outselves in late June. Today I read the first thing about Nemo and EE which is not pure speculation. On MiceChat an Autopia CM said that he/she believes Nemo would be open for EE based on discussions with Nemo CMs. See www.micechat.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1678317 posts 11 and 19.

If that is true Dizzy, I think I would burn the EE on Nemo and hit the FantasyLand rides on a non-EE day like June 8 or 10. For other folks not going on June 11/12 like Dizzy, I am not sure if that is the best idea. Personally I am planning to skip Nemo during EE days (even if it is not offered during EE) and hit it first thing on non-EE days only. If Nemo is not offered during EE, EE people will still line up for it during EE and so if you try to go after EE there will be a significant line.

If a person has multiple EE days (I am like Dizzy and only have one) then doing Nemo first thing during EE is probably worth it (assuming it is offered during EE).

I betcha you will be able to ride it on the days before it opens. Keep an eye open for it.

Thanks everyone for the help!!! I knew I could count on you guys :grouphug: !!!

I am so glad to hear I am planning on the same thing as you - Wednesday June 20th here I come, lol! It will probably be my only ride on it, but once is better than never :)

One of the users did make a very good suggestion. Its not like that if you wait in line before the park closes (aka 30-45min before park closes) they wouldnt kick you out of line before the park closes, hence your pretty much riding after park hours. It MIGHT work. But that would be a really good idea. But never know what might happen.

Yes, that will work if you can stay up late. And you still have to wait the line. The word over on MiceChat is that the Nemo lines will be two hours at midnight closing. That was what happened in 2005 after Space Mtn re-opened. Lines of 100-120 minutes at midnight were common that summer. The problem for many of us then is how to get up early the next day to get going on another park day.

It will be Wed June 27 for us. :yay:

And I had another idea here the last couple days. We are planning to spend Thursday night and leave DLR Friday morning. Since Friday is non-EE, I am thinking about getting an extra day on our tickets so we can head into DL at opening on Friday, ride Nemo a second time, and then split the parks. It would be only $10 more per person.

Does Disneyland "test" the new rides like WDW? At WDW an attraction is open sporadically for a few weeks before the actual opening, to test out the ride's stamina, and to work out the last minute kinks. I was able to ride Rock n Rollercoaster and Mission Space well before the actual opening.

If DL does this, then maybe I'll have a chance to check out this new attraction.

Yes, but the schedule with Nemo is so tight for a June 11 opening that it appears the tests will only be open to CMs and possibly AP holders. But one never knows.

still, well worth it :)

okay,so if one has multiple EE then you suggest using your first EE to do nemo if it is offered or if it isn't offered to wait anyways using up one of your EE days, right?

I think it depends on when you are going. Feedback after June 11 will be helpful and I am looking forward to everyone's reports the first couple weeks with regard to Nemo Subs. With the limited information at hand, I would suggest these categories have different priorities:

1. Those with multiple EE days and Nemo Subs are open during EE
2. Those with multiple EE days and Nemo Subs are not open during EE
3. Those with a single EE day and Nemo Subs are open during EE
4. Those with a single EE day and Nemo Subs are not open during EE
5. Those with no EE days and Nemo Subs are open during EE
6. Those with no EE days and Nemo Subs are not open during EE

How does Nemo affect these people? IMO here is how:

1. Those with multiple EE days and Nemo Subs are open during EE

You should use at least one of your EE days to go straight to Nemo and ride it. If you want to ride Nemo more than once, it is your call whether to use multiple EE days on Nemo or get a second ride first thing on a non-EE day.

2. Those with multiple EE days and Nemo Subs are not open during EE

You should either ride it first thing on a non-EE day (preferable IMO) or use part of one of your EE days to get in line at Nemo before the regular park hours begin.

3. Those with a single EE day and Nemo Subs are open during EE

IMO, do not waste your EE hour on this ride. Ride it first thing on a non-EE day.

4. Those with a single EE day and Nemo Subs are not open during EE

Some people with EE will get in line for Nemo during their EE time, so you will have to burn EE time to wait in this line. Not worth it IMO. So same answer as #3 above - ride it on a non-EE day.

In summary, if you have one EE day you should ride Nemo first thing on a non-EE day whether Nemo is open during EE or not.

5. Those with no EE days and Nemo Subs are open during EE
6. Those with no EE days and Nemo Subs are not open during EE

Both of these are the same. Ride Nemo first thing on a non-EE day if possible. If not, go there first and wait it out.

Other overall caveats. June 11 and 12 (both EE days) will be especially bad for Nemo lines and if you can avoid Nemo these days you should. On June 11 especially expect to see people camped out over night (i.e., camped out on the evening of June 10) waiting in line to get into DL.

For the first two Sundays (non-EE days) the lines outside the DL gates in the morning will be LONG. Get to the DL gates earlier than you normally would (I would get there at least 45 minutes early on these days) or just go to DCA on these days.

Remember that local AP holders have the luxury of dedicating as much time as necessary for this one ride. They can come anytime and other rides will not be a priority on these days. If they have to wait four hours in line, or get to DL at 5AM to get in line at the gates, they will be willing to do that.

After June 29 the super long lines at the gates in the mornings (mostly AP holders) should be over until late August because of the AP blackouts.

See "How long will sub line be when it opens let the guessing begin"

Here is an excerpt from Darkbeer, post #10. DB is a knowledgable local AP holder.

We have three main types of park visitors

Regular Visitors (now mostly AP holders)

The person who only visits rarely (mainly out of town tourists)

Cast Members.

Now, let's take care of the CM's first, hopefully most CM's will get a chance to ride while Disney tests the attraction, works on loading issues, etc., since DOSH regulations allow CM's to ride even if DOSH hasn't signed off on the ride. So hopefully we won't have many off-duty CM's standing in the lines. CM's are blocked out on July 4th, and then July 13th thru August 19th.

There is a big difference between Regular Visitors (AP holders) and the out of town guests, and that is the AP holder has for the most part pretty much experienced the entire park and all of its attractions (at least the ones they are interested in), while a visitor hasn't seen most of the park or hasn't seen it in years, so there is a desire to make sure and get to see a lot of things.

On the other hand, regular visitors will see the Sub Lagoon commercials (since most live in the SoCal area) and will make a special trip just to ride the Subs (and of course, check out other favorites).

So you have two groups of people, with two very different values in regards to the wait time.

The visitors will have a much shorter wait time maximum. If they see 2 hours, there is a much higher possibility that they will decide to go see and ride other things instead of waiting.

On the other hand, the folks who go to the park JUST to ride the subs (AP holders and CM's who didn't get to ride during the CM previews) will wait a much longer time, as that was the reason they showed up. At some point, even most AP holders won't be willing to wait, but I would say that 4 hours will be agreeable to many AP holders just to get a chance to see the ride.

Now, most AP holders are either SoCal or SoCal select AP holders, and they have limited dates to see Finding Nemo prior to being blocked out for the summer.

The regular SoCal AP is blocked out for about half of June, all of July and most of August.

So here are the dates that SoCal AP holders have a chance to ride, based on the ride opening June 11th.
Monday, June 11th
Tuesday, June 12th

Sunday, June 17th
Monday June 18th
Tuesday, June 19th

Sunday June 24th thru Friday, June 29th.

The next day that the SoCal AP's can enter without buying a blockout pass is Sunday August 19th.

And based on the long lines for the first few days that Pirates was open last June, the lines dropped in size on the first day the SoCal AP's were blocked out.

So, my educated guess, Wednesday June 13th lines will be shorter than the 11th or 12th, but I still see a long line on the 13th, but still noticeably shorter than a day that the SoCal's can attend. I think the 17th and the 24th will be the two days with the longest wait, due to the combination of a weekend and SoCal AP's can enter.

Count on my feedback on the 13th!!!

It is too bad we will only be there the Mon and Tues morning...I may be hoping for Nemo in Oct???

I betcha you will be able to ride it on the days before it opens. Keep an eye open for it.

Yea, we got to ride the Monsters Inc ride before it was set to open, we heard the announcement on the monorail. That must have been the only place they were announcing it too because we walked right on.
