June or Thanksgiving

We want to go to Universal this year, but because I'm a teacher, we can only go during school breaks. Two years ago, we did a big Disney trip during the week of Thanksgiving and stayed on property. The crowds were manageable all week to us, even on Thanksgiving Day at Animal Kingdom. We would really prefer to go during warmer weather because swimming was hit and miss at Thanksgiving, and dd wants to do a water park. So, will mid-June be worse, crowd-wise than Thanksgiving week?

Weather wise...I would go with Thanksgiving but the crowds should be about the same...June is a little higher but not by much.

Can you stay on property and get the free express pass? The express pass would be a huge time saver.

The crowds being almost the same, my vote would be June. With express pass you can get a LOT done in a day and still have time to enjoy the pool and relax in the evening (longer summer evenings help). As long as you don't mind the summer heat I would pick June.

I think that's a tough decision... A couple of years ago we went the second week in June, and even though it was warmer at night, it rained a lot more in the afternoon. I know you have to take FL weather with a grain of salt but it was kind of disruptive since we were at WDW. If you stay on site at US/IOA it would be a little easier to go back to the hotel for a couple of hours if needed.

We have also gone Thanksgiving week, which I loved! Except for the for nights being a little chilly (to me) the weather was perfect! The crowds were about the same, but it doesn't really matter with express, and I like the Christmas decorations being up. Plus, there was no rain!

One thing that may factor in is park hours... You would have to check, and even though they may be open a little later for the Thanksgiving holiday, June probably still has longer hours. And you will get to see the new show in the Lagoon (I think that's where it is) which may not be running over Thanksgiving.

Have fun!

Thanks everyone! We are really looking at early June right now. Yes, we will try to stay onsite, but only for one night to get the Express Pass benefit. Although we will be there for about 5 days, my sister lives in Orlando, so a free place to stay is hard to turn down. :)
