Am planning my first visit to DLP with my son (7) and need some advice ! we are planning to go for 3 nights and to stay at Disneyland Hotel............which would you recommend, June or October? Thinking that it might be less crowded in June with better weather, but would like to do the Halloween Party in October! For anyone who has been there at Halloween, how crowded is it?!!!

Cant comment on the times as ive only ever been in winter. What i would suggest is to try another hotel. The theme of disneyland hotel is quite subtle. I find kids find the theme of other hotels (especialy the wild west of cheyenne) much more interesting. Theyre a lot cheaper too!

I've been in both months and it really depends on what days you want to go, as there are holidays in both months. From my experience, June was busier, and I preferred the atmosphere in October. The weather was crisp and dry, but it can get rainy in any month! June - weather was hotter, but the crowds were quite bad, and so I would probably go with October, especially for your first time. Remember you can enjoy the Halloween season without going for the Halloween Party on Oct 31st particularly :)

Hi,

We were there for Halloween in 2007. We had lovely crisp weather except for one day when it rained solid & heavy the whole day.

I would still go again in October, but bring Wellie Boots just in case!!

We went to the Halloween Party, paid the extra for the ticket, but didn't think it was worth it. We saw the show they put on that night earlier in the day, only extra thing was the fireworks after midnight. The queues on the rides were very very long.

We went for the 1st time in October 2007 and the Halloween celebrations started the 2nd day we were there. I would thoroughly recommend October as it was lovely seeing the Park decorated out for Halloween. We stayed at the Cheyenne and also thought the theming was good, especially as your son is 7 (My daughter was 7 and thought it was a real Western Town) The weather was great, and the Park wasn't too packed, except for the Saturday. So I would avoid weekends if possible.

The Halloween season is superb my DS's were 5 and 10 when we did the Halloween season and they thoroughly enjoyed it. We went early in October though and the park was very quiet, I understand from trip reports Halloween itself is rather busy and more a day/night for soaking up the atmosphere than for getting much done as the park is so busy with long queues.

Whilst the DLH is the most wonderful hotel and I would love to stay there, I agree that your DS might not be so enthralled by it, it is a bit pink.:rotfl:
My 2 both love the SL with it's Indian memorabilia, bearskins etc., and they also liked the nautical NPB. I haven't even been inside the NY so I can't comment on that one, but these three are all within easy walking distance of the park, as we always go to the Village, either to eat, shop or have a nightcap after the park closes we find that the walk through the village back to the hotel is really nice and if your legs really won't carry you any further, there's always the Minnie train for a small fee.

Hope this helps. Enjoy your planning. :goodvibes

We've been in June. The crowds during the week weren't too bad, we managed to go on most rides even tho I was pregnant. The weather was hot, days longer and we all enjoyed ice-cream late in the evening. The park is also opened longer in the summer.

I'd pick June.

Haven't been in June but went in October 2007 half term and while quite busy, we all loved Halloween with the witches and pumpkin men.

Same here. We haven't been in June either but went for Halloween for the first time last October. We went for the week before Halloween night itself (21st - 26th) which was half-term for much of the UK but we were surprised how quiet it was compared to August! :rotfl: The week that includes October 31st is always busier as not only is it half-term for the UK, it's also school holidays for France.

Personally, given the choice of June or October I would opt for October as I found the whole Halloween atmosphere was such fun. :yay:

How crowded would it be in the second week of June (Sun-Thurs)?!! Typical wait times etc?

Hi there Debs, i went the first week of June last year mid week (no Fri Sat or Sun) and for our first trip I thought the queues were fab, I think the longest we waited for anything was 15mins, and I didn't think it was too crowded either, the weather was lovely and warm, though we did get about an hour of drizzle one day. We didn't actually go on any 'adult rides' so I wouldn't know about queuing for those but, in Fantasyland and all the kiddy rides we hardly had long to wait to get on.
I'd choose June myself again but DS is in school now so can't take him out for mid week term time hol!
Not a Halloween person so it doesn't appeal to me much going at that time of year.
