Our initial plan was to go in November the week after Thanksgiving. But this past year my daughter has already missed 12 days of school due to being very sick with her Asthma. (Winter is tough on her). She will also be missing another 5 days in May for our first disney trip. After some thinking I think it would be better if we took the kids during the summer break. Also November is a bad month for her asthma and id rather not be away from home if I dont have to be.

I cant decide what to do...June 27-July 2 or August 8-13.

Price wise they are the same if I were to do the ROOM ONLY Special they have out to the Public right now.

We will be driving (another reason I figured the summer would be better, so no chance of yet another strange SNOW STORM in DC LOL, we will be driving from Boston).

I am not sure which time period is better on weather and crowd levels. Also cant recall when FREE DINING was offered last year and not sure if thats even something to consider.

Here are the resorts I am considering...All Star Music (DD LOVES the pics of this resort) Pro is that its a VALUE (better on the wallet), CON is the size of beds...it will be 2 adults and 2 kids. Double beds just might not work. No Fridge or Microwave (although with driving we will bring our own MICRO if thats allowed LOL).

Or I would love to stay at Coronado Springs. PROS...Queen Beds, Fridge and I can still bring our own MICRO. CONS...more money OOP. Not sure if the kids will like the decor.

**neither of my kids are big on pools LOL go figure. My daugther is 7 and has many sensory issues so she most likely wont go in any pool. But if they have a kiddie pool or sprinkler type thing that may be an option for DD. With the heat and the summer months I think a good pool would be something to consider**

Unfortunately I only have 3 days to consider all of this if I am gonna be using the PUBLIC ROOM ONLY Discount.

I do have a PIN connected to my name, which I got quoted for a room in NOVEMBER...I believe its a 30/35/40 or a 20/30/40 PIN...so I am sure I will be able to use it for both June and August if I cant make a decision in 3 days LOL

I guess if I had to pick I would go with Aug. b/c your July dates are a little close to 4th of July and that will be crowded.
I would recommend 2 different hotels to you for water play. Carrribean beach has a great new area for kids- a pirate ship with a water play area and a few slides. The water around it is only a few inches, it is not in the pool. The regular pool has 2 nice slides too. For a value, POP has the water jets and kids love to run through these. Would the splash areas be better for your daughter than the pool? I would choose one of these then b/c it will be so hot when you go. I think I would pick the water options over decor in the summer.

Thanks so much for your tips....I will look into the CBR...

Does anyone know as far as bring our own Microwave? is that allowed?

We always do that week in Aug. and last year we tried the last week in June. It was horribly crowded. Just not worth it to me unless you HAVE to go that week.

We are booked for the second week in August again this year. It will be just as hot but not nearly as crazy crowded as that last week in June.

Thank you so much.....I know no matter what time of the summer we go we will be hit with the HEAT LOL. So I guess it will be better in August due to the lower crowd level.

My son's birthday is June 28th so it made sense to give it a try last year. Of course now he expects to spend EVERY birthday at Disney. :rotfl2:

Hahaha...well dont feel bad...we are taking the kids for the first time in May...we are staying offsite...but I so wished we had booked onsite..so thats why I am thinking of going back in August LOL...so lets hope my kids dont think Disney is something they get to do all the time LOL

I've done both. August was much less crowded. Like hugely less crowded. And I was there early-ish June (which should have been the lesser busy part of June) and early to mid August (not the less busy part of August).

Since your kids are young, I would try to pull them out of school to go again. Summer will be really hot. I think your May trip will be so much better.
If you want to go again, try October.

I'd say August because if you are already going in May, it is awfully soon to go again in June.

We have definitely found August to be more humid/hot than June, but much less crowded.

Thank you to everyone who has posted....DH and I talked about it last night..and we decided on August...but as I was trying to sleep last night, all I could think about was my sweaty kids (who already get so super hot when the weather gets really hot up here in Mass) and just not sure that either of them would be at all comfortable.

Initially it was November...right after thanksgiving. I am just nervous because of the horrible weather that DC and Virginia and that part of the east coast had last year...I know that all of that was a complete fluke and that type of weather usually never happens...but im worried of booking a trip and then having to cancel it at the last minute.

I think once you go on your first trip, you will be able to make a better decision. You will know what it feels like to walk a lot and stand in line, and then you may not want to go in the summer. Or maybe it will not bother you. We went this past Christmas, and I will never go in the winter again. It was too cold and FL to us is about warmth. It was a learning lesson. I still think March and Nov. are the best times. I would like to try summer, but we don't do well in the heat and would probably be miserable.

Gosh, I just have to say that I'd stick with November! You might find that her Asthma is better in FL, with the change in weather. You can say you're going to Disney for "health reasons" :woohoo:

I had the same problem. I picked aug because of school. I have been in nov aug both:upsidedow:upsidedow and they each have there pluses. but missing school is becoming a bigger deal as kids get older. I had to take week 1st week in aug. I wanted 2nd but it was not abvailable for the okw which is what i wanted. I know its hot and crowded but the extra hours at night give us more time in parks. as far as resorts I like carribean beach and port orleans best for moderates. good luck in choosing.!

Is June really that much more crowded than Aug?? We always go the end of Aug (this year's it 8/17-8/27) but we're getting APs this year, so to squeak another trip out of them, we we're going to go in June in 2011. Literally the second the kids get out of school, around 6/17.

According to tourguide Mike they are both 4blue people. I hate crowds! I would rather sweat to death in 100 degree weather then deal with millions of people.......am I in for a shock if we go the middle of June?
