June No Buy

I was tempted to buy a Mountain Dew at the gas station where I returned a free redbox rental, I'm overcoming an addiction to it, but I'm proud to say I resisted so I had a $0 day :cool1: Tomorrow will be more difficult, the kids have their bowling league in the morning and my 8yo always begs for junk at the bowling alley. The rule is supposed to be if they want anything else they have to use their own money, but I'm bad at sticking to it.

Father's Day at Medieval Times Toronto was AMAZING!!! I've never seen the place so full. I treated my whole extended family that included my 2 uncles and grandpa.

I took a page out of the Tips Board and pre-bought some gifts for my 5 cousins under 8 yrs old. Swords for the boys and wands for the girls so they wouldn't want to buy the other stuff in the gift shop so much. It worked wonderfully! They never asked to buy anything!

I hope everybody had a great Father's Day!

Apparently the boy she likes told her today he liked her friend instead - hours of crying ensued despite the boy being really sweet when he told her  What I don't get is the parents who think it's "cute" to encourage all of these 12-years-olds to act like mini-adults and think about/chase boys non-stop (several kids in her class are dating already )!! What is wrong with just being 12??????? BTW - I was just joking about the bar. But drowning my misery in pizza or ice cream did cross my mind LOL

I think so far you're doing great!

I'm looking forward to a zero day today, we're going to a magic show at the library then of course we'll get some books which always feels like shopping when we bring those home :thumbsup2 The library is across the street from McDonalds though so I'll have to stay strong when the kids start asking for smoothies.

Mom-I remember when I was 12, kids in my class were already "dating" too! I even knew of a 12 yr old girl that got pregnant...

Forgot to pack a lunch so went to Subways for a sub. I had a gift card so didn't spent that much!

Did I say ?

Hopefully my daughter is smarter than that - I've let her watch "16 and Pregnant" for a couple of years now. Most mother's think I'm INSANE for doing that - but just ask my daughter if the boys stick around once the baby is born or what your life is like with a baby, no high school degree and no job. She can tell you what it is really like - no rose colored glasses for her! :lmao:

She told me this morning that she agreed with me now about how she and her friends are not emotionally mature enough yet for all this fussing over boys. I doubt that'll stop her, but maybe I at least got through to her in some teeny, tiny way...
