June/July 2007!! Anyone else??

I can't recommend a building because I've never stayed at the GF, but in the past when I've stayed at the Poly, when I got a room location that I was unhappy with (just once) I simply went to the front desk, explained my concerns very nicely, and they moved us right away.

Good luck and no worries! It sounds like you're going to have a lovely family trip!
Beth

Thank you for the well wishes!!! We too have always stayed at the Poly (except one time at the Caribbean Beach resort), we ended up with a distant room blocked by folliage, but they were very understanding and placed us in the Samoa longhouse facing the volcano pool on the third floor.

I'm sure each and every room is fabulous at the G. Floridian, I'm just a bit concerned about any long walk, especially after a long day or night in the parks.

I know we'll have a great time.

I have never posted here before...but I have read A LOT....but have not seen an answer to my ??....:sad2:
Has anyone out there been to Disney for the 4th...?:confused3
We are getting there on July 2 - 10...and would like to hear any suggestions on the crowds...I have read that it is the busiest time of the year
(what was I thinking)...?
And that once you are in a park you shouldn't leave because they may close it down if it is filled to capacity?...is that right?...
Help ease my mind...!! Thank you...Rose...Texas :earsboy:

We've been to Disney two other times during the 4th of July week and we're going again, departing June 27 till July 9th, G. Floridian.

Yes, it is a busy time of the year, but not the busiest in my opinion, Christmas and Easter I think is their max times. You are about to see some of the most fantastic fireworks displays anywhere around in the Disney parks, except Animal Kingdom.

There is a possibility of closing the parks if they reach max, but we've never seen that happen in the six times we've stayed on Disney property. I have heard of parking lots being at max for those staying off property.

This 4th of July, I heard that in the Magic Kingdom, they will have ceremonies of immigrants becoming new US citizens. That should be exciting. I'd expect that to be pretty crowded, but who knows?

Make sure you have dining reservations for both the third and fourth of July because yes, it will be crowded, but they're celebrating both nights with special displays.

We're going to have dinner in EPCOT's Germany Beirgarten around 6pm, then we'll stake out a good location for the fireworks, so, with dining reservations, we'll be right there already and won't fight the hords trying to get into the gates.

We also have dining reservations at the Chrystal Palace at 6:30pm in the Magic Kingdom for the 3rd, and will be pretty well positioned for theri displays.

It's pretty tough for people, especially those with kids like myself to remain in a park all those hours, unless you're ready to rough it all day and night, you sould go for an 11am or noon time nap a/o swim, then, head back to the park of your choice. But, I wouldn't worry, even if the MK shuts it's gates, there's still all the other parks.

I would merely recommend having your dining reservations completed really soon if not now. Mexico's (EPCOT) San Angel restaurant is a great location to eat, try to arrive early and once there, try to get out door seating, this is separate from the Mexico restaurant though and they don't take reservations.

That's my advise, but please check with the event schedules, park times, and also you'll know better once you're there. Unfortunately, we don't have crystal balls, but we do have faith in the Lord above for a safe trip full of sunshine and fun.

Enjoy your trip, you'll have a blast! I'm sure everything will work out great.

PS, NASA has a rocket launch scheduled around the 2nd or third I think, I've got to check out the KSC site for that schedule, too bad it's not the Shuttle.

Just added info: Are you staying on property? The planning video, UG, and a cm I spoke with all say if you are on property you can enter parks, even when closed due to numbers. Apparently they close them just before it hits the max, allowing resort guests the "perk" of still being able to enter. So, if you go to nap, but are on property, you should be able to return, regardless. ..

Ohhhh yeahhh, get the dining resi's done as fast as possible. Look at the different parks extra magic hours too. Allow yourselves enought time to get to where you'll be going from point A to point B... one thing for sure, the monorail and busses will be crowded at different times.

Again, look at the parade/fireworks and other event schedules in the Disney site or even these DISboards, they're extremely accurate and updated. Also look at closings and rehabs for restaurants and attractions.

Keep in mind that during fireworks, especially at EPCOT, the wind many times takes the smoke right into the crowds and viewing areas, so try and stay in the opposite direction of the wind.

If you'll be headed to the many fireworks and parades in any of the parks, allow yourself enough time for these as well, I try to get dining reservations between 6 and 6:30pm pretty centrally located in great viewing area's of the parks, once we're done with dinner, we won't have far to walk to get a great spot. Some people scope out viewing spots hours in advance and just plant themselves.

Here's a few helpful links below on Disney operational updates and hours, also a link for dining, don't forget the DISboards too, personally, I think they're much better for news on anything Disney.

We'll be in the "World" July 8-14th! Staying at CBR this year! I would love to meet other DISers while I'm down there. I'm sure it's refreshing to know that you're not the only Disney Freak in the world! :rotfl:

Brighton88, how did U make our with your dining ressies? I hope U were able to get it all done and got what you wanted. Have a great trip!

we are planning on MK the 3rd eating at LTT and Epcot on the 4th we have a ressie at Alfredos. My kids love it there and now that they are closing this will be our final meal there.
We plan on taking our time and breaks as other posters have said. During the meat of the day. We also have 2 water park days scheduled and a break day where DH and DS are going to daytona for the race and me and DS3 are gonna do stuff together.

Exactly seven days left for our trip, counting the hours and minutes now. The kids and Daddy are so excited, but my three kids, being young girls (10,15,19, one with a baby, age 1 in WDW), they're costing me an arm and a leg!

They have to have all new cloths and makeup, I even ended up buying a new light weight Chicco baby stroller from Babys-R-Us. My daughter has two already, but they're a bit bulky and heavy.

We're planning on the Magic Kingdom for the morning hours on the fourth, then, I agree with you, we'll take it easy and relax...we'll head back to the G. Floridian for a good break and a swim, then we'll head to Epcot to the Beirgarten in Germany for dinner.

After that, in my opinion, the best fireworks display anywhere (along with Fantasy in the Sky at MK, which we'll do on 7/3). These plans pending on park attendance of course.

MK will have ceremonies on the 4th for immigrants becoming new US citizens, so I expect the MK to be crowded. It's great to see immigrants following the law of the land as many of our own families have done for generations, my own coming from Europe in 1907 and 1915 into Ellis Island, NY. by boat. So I welcome and congratulate them. What a great time and place to be sworn in!

We had planned on Alfredo's which we've always loved, and will sincerely miss, but I became a bit concerned about the level of service and quality from some of the posts I've read and that they'll be out of business in August, so we changed plans to the Beirgarten, I've heard great things about them, but, like everything, everyone has their own opinions and experiences, I just figured to play it safe.

Praying for a safe one and for great weather. Hopefully I won't have to sell my car and mortgage my house after my daughters and WDW get done with me, lol.

Enjoy your trip!

Kev
