We will be arriving tomorrow for a week and I was wondering how the June Gloom is?

We went 2 years ago and the sun did not come out till around noon.

Anyone been there the last couple of days?

Thanks!

Well, you experienced it 2 years ago. In May and June, weather conditions are such that the marine layer (a layer of low fog like clouds that lie over the Pacific) are able to move in over land. They do usually burn off (unless you are very close to the coast), but it can take the better part of the morning to do so. It can also move back in over land in the late afternoon and early evening. Hence, May grey and June gloom.

What this means for you at DL is mild weather. It keeps it from getting too hot during the day, but you may need a jacket or sweater in the morning and evening.

We just returned and it varied from day to day. Some days the sun was out by 8 am and another day it was late morning. But then it stayed sunny all day. It is amazing, though, how much the sun can really things up so a bit of 'gloom' really isn't all that bad.

I don't think you need to worry about June gloom for the week you are here. I'm in Newport Beach right now and it's bright and sunny. Starting today, we're getting a little heat wave for about a week. Not terribly hot, but probably in the high 80's and low 90's for Anaheim.

We had a lot of June Gloom last week. More then usual really. But it was still really nice, I for one do not like it super hot! Friday was the warmest day, and was blue and sunny right off the bat. So I think it usually varies.

I didn't mind it at all! It kept the temps down. Also, as another poster said, it varied some days had it until noon, other days not at all.

Really? I've been checking the forecast on accuweather and weather.com and it shows in the low 80s for the week.

I live 17 miles south of DLR and there has been no "gloom" in the morning since Tuesday. It's been bright and sunny from sun-up and is expected to be that way through next week at least. Have a great time.

I love the gloom! We were there last Sunday and Monday. Sunday, there was gloom until about 11:00 am, and the temps were absolutely perfect -- highs in the upper 70's. Monday, it was sunny first thing in the morning and it was hot at 10 am, and eventually got to 90 degrees. I hate having to constantly seek out shade and air conditioning at DLR. So be thankful for any cloud cover you get!

I'm just verifying what others have said. It differs from day to day, and tends to be very gloomy right at the coast. Since Anaheim is inland, you may have no gloom or a little until 10-11am. It does keep temps nice, though. Sometimes it can get humid, (in my opinion) but still be a little cool in the evening. I'd bring a light jacket/sweater for night time if you plan to be out.

Have fun and enjoy the awesome weather!

Better June Gloom than sideways slashing rain of Jan 27, 08 I was too cold to stay for the fireworks. I was in the hotel with the heat up as high as it would go snuggled down in bed trying to warm up! I was so wet from where the poncho ended to my toes! My shoes stayed wet for 2 days!!!

Thank heavens I bought a coat at Sea World it was warm and snuggly on non rainy days.

I'll have to agree with DM and say June Gloom rocks!

The temperature is nice and mild while you run around the park in the morning.
If I had my way, I'd like it to be this way all year long, instead of cloudless skies the other 320 days of the year. Too much sun is overrated anyhow :p
