I just realized I may have caused myself a planning issue. We have decided to stay offsite. We will be going second week in June. I was waiting until the end of May to purchase our tickets. I forgot about the new fast pass reservation system. If I wait to purchase in May, will I be shooting myself in the foot? Will there be any chance of getting a fast pass?

It depends on when in May you buy the tickets. Staying offsite automatically puts you behind the 8-ball because you're only able to make FP+ 30 days out compared to the 60 days that onsite guests receive. Also, you'll need to make them on a daily basis (ie: on 4/14/17 you can select FP+ for 5/14/17, on 4/15/17 you can select FP+ for 5/15/17, etc.) and can only have 7 days worth of FP+ in total.

Yes, you'll only be able to make reservations 30 days out, but I don't agree at all that it puts you behind the 8 ball. We exclusively stay off site. With the lone exception of FEA, we have not had any issues getting FP+ for any ride we wanted, and mostly at any time we want. You need to do it daily at the 30 day mark, as mentioned above, so that you get to pick everything you want. You'll have no troubles getting FP+ for 99% of the rides. We often wind up switching our FP+ the day we're supposed to use it, or the day before, and still have decent success (not always, but often). I think the 7 days of FP+ in total only applies to AP holders, but I could be wrong. I know before we bought our AP, we purchased a 10 day ticket and made FP+ reservations for 14 consecutive days. But that was in 2015, so maybe something has changed.

So you're saying you'll be making fast passes about 2 weeks out from your trip.

You very likely won't get 7dmt or Frozen. It's possible, but likely you won't. Other than that, your chances of getting everything else are very good. We always stay offsite and usually book about 2-3 weeks in advance and I never have trouble getting anything else. Soarin, Toy Story, test track, Big Thunder, etc I've always basically had free range of times to choose from

Thanks everyone. I feel better about it. I'm not worried about FEA or 7dmt. I won't worry as much
