I am just back from WDW and already dying to leave again. I have decided to make it an annual mommy daughter trip in June. Pros and cons for POP or moderate (POFQ or Coronado Springs specifically)

DD loves POP but we have stayed there 3 times in 2004 already. POFQ is attractive because of the size and pool/slide/location. POP is attractive because of price. This would be a six day trip. The longest we have ever taken. We spilt stays last time (5day) but I do not think I would want to this time. Help me decide Please!!!!

My vote is for POFQ.
Pop is fun but POFQ is so much smaller. I think it would be easier to keep up with DD by yourself. We have stayed at both and I thought the bus transportation from POFQ was better than what we had with Pop. Pop wasn't bad, just seemed like POFQ was easier.
The pool at POFQ is nice, and loved the boat to DTD. Also having the coffeemaker and fridge at POFQ was a big bonus for us.

I'm not a big fan of Pop, though, so I'm a little biased  .

On my solo trips with kids I like to have a sit down resturant available. The first trip we stayed at Music and went we returned for dinner and they were tired it was hard to stand in the lines at the food court. They wanted to just sit at a table while I got the food, but they were too young to be left alone. All other times I really liked the food court but in the evening it was difficult for me. In that respect POFQ would give you the option of sitting together at a table.

Since you've stayed at Pop before you pretty much know the drill there. I wanted to stay at POFQ in early December with my almost 5yo, but they didn't have any AP rates left so I ended up at POR. I liked POR a lot, but of course it is more spread out, making it a longer walk to the food court.

I do have ressies for POFQ in 3 weeks, but I will have only my 11yo with me that trip. He wanted to stay at Pop so we're doing 2 nights at Pop and then switching to POFQ for 3 nights. It shouldn't be too hard switching resorts since Zachary is old enough to help with the move.

I've planned a couple solo trips with my youngest (the one who just turned 5yo), but my sister has ended up joining us both times. The first trip was a week in February at Pop and the second this last December trip. Besides my few days at POR we also had a week at an offsite timeshare and 2 nights at Pop.

I think that compact is best when traveling alone with a young child, especially if you are using WDW transportation and/or eating at the food court, so I would try for POFQ. Also, you'll be there in hot weather so you might want to limit the resort walking.

Have fun planning!

I think that I am leaning towards POFQ. SDoes anyone know how crowded it is in June? Also how is the bus situation?

I stayed there in December so my bus experience is from that trip only, but we had great luck with the buses. My only complaint was when POFQ and POR shared buses. POR had several stops so it made the commute time longer. Also there might be standing room only going to/from the parks. When we were there POFQ and POR did not share buses from MK, but did from all other parks. I don't think the bus situation will be any better at Pop, though. We didn't have any trouble with the bus service at Pop, but it is a large resort = lots of people on the bus, and the bus stops are a much longer walk to/from your room.

If you're asking for overall WDW crowds in June, we went the second week in June (for 2 weeks) several years ago and I didn't find the crowds to be terrible. We used fastpass when we could and when the parks got crazy crowded we got the heck outta there. I don't think we'll ever go to WDW without the Park Hopper option. With the new EM hours I would think it will be a little easier to avoid crowds in June.
Have fun! Wish I was going back to POFQ soon :D

I would go with POFQ. Smaller resort-- less than 800 rooms, everything very near, only one bus stop at crowded times, and at times it shares with PO-R it is 1st on (choice of seat) and 1st off! My DD was 7 when we stayed there, and all she could talk about was the serpent slide. There is also a playground. You may also take advantage of the pool and playground at PO-R.

I haven't stayed at Pop, but I have seen it, and it is more spread out with more rooms, so you will have to walk more to the food court, etc. I think the bus service is pretty good from there, as well. It will have the icons from some of the movies, such as Jungle Book and Lady and the Tramp and of course the staircases will be themed, such as the giant Bowling pins on the 50's building and the giant cell phones on the 90's building. I believe the 60's are yo yos, or something... can't remember. The pools there don't have slides, though. None of the value resorts do.

Whatever you decide, have a great time!

Is there a coffee Maker and a fridge in each room, without charge at the French Quarter?

Yes. The fridge may not be there when you check in but if you call Guest Services they will have one sent to your room at no charge. Eventually each room will have a fridge.

We stayed there for 2 weeks last July and the bus service was fantastic. We added 2 days at POP to the end of our trip and what a difference....hurry up and line up...yuck. I was also at POP for 6 nights in November for a last minute "Moms only" trip and although it was OK, it doesn't compare to POFQ. POFQ is our favourite resort...if it had monorail service it would be the perfect resort in our opinion. :D

Hi
After reading the posts here I stayed at the POFQ. Maybe it was the building I was in (1) but everytime I walked out of my room I was lost.
I didn't like the food court( POP had a better one).
The bus was ok and the pool was great.
Overall, I wasn't thrilled and will not return.

We stayed at both in October/November - 6 nights at POP followed by 4 nights at POFQ. We wished we had stayed at POP. POFQ was a pretty resort with a great pool and the rooms were lovely, but we missed the Disney theming, the view over the lake and the general ambience of POP.

At POFQ, we had problems with the noisy air conditioning, CM's who insisted on cleaning the exteriors of our building (building 1) with a very loud pressure water hose at 8am every morning, which apparently was 'normal' and a bus which stopped at every stop of POR before you finally get going to the park of your choice. I personally didn't think POFQ was worth the extra $$, but this wouldn't put me off trying another moderate resort in the future.

Pigby, don't you hate it when you pay money to move to a "nicer" resort and then wished that you had stayed put at the first one.

That happened to my husband and me this fall. We stayed for 2 nights at CBR, which was the place my DH wanted to try. I was a little hesitant to stay there after reading some reports about the place, but we ended up with a nice, quite room. It was quite a walk to the food court, but we didn't go there much, anyway. We then moved for a couple nights to WL, which has theming that we really like (we're from the west so it makes us feel that we've returned to our younger years...). We ended up at the very end of one of the wing hallways, which was quite a walk (still not like many moderates, but long for WL), but the worst thing was the VERY noisy woman in the next room. We kicked ourselves since it had been so quiet at CBR. Live and learn.

Why would they clean that building everymorning with a pressure hose? What is it with Building # 1 ? I was thinking about picking #1 or #6 for the river view, but this is the 2nd complaint I have heard about #1.

What building would you request if you were staying there? I don't want the parking lot where the delivery trucks stop either?

I am still torn but thank you for giving me both sides of the argument. Any info on coronado springs?
