Let me start by saying that we haven't been to Disney in ages! Seven years to be exact our princess who is 7 now has been begging us for at least three years now to go. Sadly with running a farm we don't have a lot of time. Generally early summer is the only time we have for vacations. So it has been a very long hard winter for us and we all need a break desperately and I convinced DH that we need to go to Disney. :) In the past he has been opposed to going anywhere near Florida in the summer because it's so hot, except this time he has caved! :goodvibes He knows that we all need to desperately get off this farm after the horrible winter. However I'm kinda feeling like maybe I've made a mistake. :( please convince me I haven't!! We are staying at Bonnet Creek so it will be our first time off property any ideas or suggestions to make it extra special for our DD is so so appreciated! :goodvibes

no you are not crazy! We are going the same time this year. Wanted to do Disney for the 4th of July. Staying 10 nights at Pop Century. The heat is only as bad as you let it be in our humbled opinion.

We are going during that time too. I think following the advice of getting there early is key. I haven't been in ages-since I was 17! My husband has not been since he was 5 so I'm looking forward to his reaction as much as my kids. It will be their first time

No you are not crazy. At least no more crazy than we are - we will be there during that period too and I like to consider myself a person of sound mind :rotfl:

Long park hours make it easier to take a decently long break midday to enjoy a swim and rest, as opposed to slower times when you have to keep an eye on the time if you want more than 2 hours in the evening before a park closes. Everything is operating in full swing, so you get two parades to choose from at MK each day and fewer rides are usually scheduled for close during the summer than in the quieter times.

Those are just some of the plus points that I'm looking forward to, having done September October trips the last few years. I'm I'm looking forward to our summer trip.

Does your DD like swimming? The pool is such a big draw to my daughter and scheduling longer times to spend with her at the pool has her jumping up and down with excitement :)

We are summer professionals when it comes to Disney. We were there again last year for the 4th. Yes, it's hot. You will be sweating a lot..Be sure to go in knowing that, and the fact that it will be jammed. MAKE SURE TO BREAK UP THE DAY WITH THE POOL VISITS!!! You will burn out,...Cancel Bonnet Creek, stay in the Disney Resort so you can utilize the Transportation. I'm tellin' you! Heed this advice!! Have a great time though!!

We went during the exact same time in 2012 with 2 small kids, ages 6 and 2 1/2 and had the most wonderful vacation! We went to breakfast in the parks each day so after we ate, we could be the first to ride. For example, on our first MK day we ate at CRT then went out and waited for the rope drop at the entrance to Fantastyland. We rode everything there within an hour and later in the day we would see 90 + min wait times! We left almost every day around noon (as the crowds were surging in!) and returned later at night for the shows. We would cool off at the pool and or take a nap and then come back feeling refreshed! We also stayed off property that visit and LOVED having our own vehicle. (Esp at MK after the show, I felt like I was back at my condo before half of those people were even on a shuttle back to their WDW resort!)
I've stayed on property 5 times and off property 2 and there are pros and cons to both. We are headed back next year in mid-July for a 5 night cruise and 10 days at the parks! (School teacher so summer will always be it for us!)
Have a great time!

As long as you understand the heat and the crowds, and go into it prepared for both then you are not crazy. You and your family will have a blast and your daughter's reaction will be priceless. I'd second the other person's recommendation to consider staying on site. I'm not sure the price difference, but it would be slightly more Disney immersive and it would get you access to Disney transportation which would help out in getting to and fro from your resort and the parks.
