June 23rd 2012 - Commandeering the Disney Fantasy - Pirates back in the Caribbean

:thumbsup2 I thought some things on their menu looked safe and I'll just order extra dessert if needed:confused3;)

BTW, I think you live very close to us Shmoogrrrl. We are in Fairfax VA just off Centreville RD. :cool1:

Oh yeah! I guess you do. We are off of New Braddock road. I actually grew up in Fairfax County, so I've been here forever, it seems. :)

The dessert DID look good at Remy. I guess because of the flame they won't have the cool V&A coffee pots. That is a shame. :)

This aerial photo is of Fairfax VA supposedly - so can we SEE your home somewhere in the image below?

FairfaxPic2.jpg

Well, that may be a part of Fairfax County, but not all of it. It is a HUGE county. It is one of those places where school can get canceled for the entire county because one half has snow and the other has absolutely nothing. :)

So how sad is this...I actually remember that my first pirate was post 83,000 (first thread of course) and I was late for my Red Door appointment because of it:rolleyes:

Too funny! You must have been having fun with everone to chance being late for such a FUN appt!! :)

So I finally got around to looking up the details of our sailing - it's a WESTERN CARIB sailing .... is that right? Gee... a Western eh? And I see they are NOT selling any interior cabins anymore? Can this be right??? AND - the price of a window cabin for 4 is only $190 or so less than a verandah cabin?!!! It's $5163 versus $5358 ... before adjustment for OBRC. GEe... this seems kind of crazy - as I would presume a verandah is in the cards for us under these circumstances!?

We will be joining y'all! WOO HOO!!!

It will be ME, dh Jon and our 3 youngest children...

Samantha, 21 at time of cruise and when told about the cruise *All RIGHT! I'll be 21 and can drink and hang out at the bars!* LOL. Her father informed her that she came from a long line of professional drinkers. :rotfl2:
Elvis, 14 at time of cruise.
Claire, 10 turning 11 right after the cruise on the 1st of July. :goodvibes
:cool1::cool1: This makes me so happy! I miss you!

Anyone going to try for Remy?

Darren and I loved Victoria and Albert's so we are really looking forward to this:woohoo:
No interest at all in Remy for me

True. We'll all have to post current pictures, especially of the kids, before we actually leave.

It's just not a Pirate cruise without the Crash flair!
My kids will start on Sensodyne at least a month before the Mickey Speed Eating Bar Contest this time so WATCH OUT!
:rotfl:

Well... my kids are not in these two photos - nor are they among the most recent - but I kind of "like" these two somewhat recent images - above was in Brussels and below at a local beach ...

OK - below are two photos from last weekend (the KING holiday weekend) were we were at Leo Carillo state beach for the sunset - and earlier that day we were hiking a few miles away in the Santa Monica mountains with friends - before a small cavern of sorts with a waterfall going through the interior and here we are in front with our kids at the bottom:

And yes - if you look carefully you can see that's a foam sword sticking out of my back pack!!

If y'all came to the cruise before this one also (like us) Claire and Rita could be together on Rita's birthday again... as is usual. haha Just kidding... I'm sure I'll have her party early or late- one or the other. ;)

I haz excitement about seeing a lot of people again. So excited I can't hide it!

Wow, there's no more interior cabins? I know we booked recently and could only get 11A instead of 11B... oh wait- that's right the lowest category for 4 was 6A. My TA probably didn't even mention the oceanview since if the price is not much difference he knows we'd prefer verandah. haha

I think you assume correctly.... verandah is in the cards for you! :thumbsup2

Since we're having a Fairfax fest can I jump in too? We also live off of Centerville Rd in the Oak Hill area between 50 and the Toll Rd! Also grew up in Fairfax though I went away for college and work before coming back.

We're in the Fairfax part of Alexandria (Mount Vernon).
At least for a few years.

Just a little bump here before....

... before we drive off for the port. We have a little sailing on the Wonder out of Los Angeles with 14 families in our group. Well... it's actually two groups with one being led by good friends of ours. We shall return in just a couple of nights. So please permit me this opportunity to wish everyone a pleasant weekend!

Really? No more? Geez I don't know that we'd go if we couldn't do an inside stateroom. Heck we only paid the $5k+ for the PC repo! :confused3

Still anxiously awaiting for DVC to release the 2012 Magic iteneraries anyway.....:surfweb:

Good point. Megan will be out of hers and Miranda is out of Phase 1 now but may very well be in Phase 2 by then.

My 5001st post. Took me 10 1/2 years to get to this point.

Congrats:cheer2:

And Shmoogrrl and Nick Charles - thanks for the reply on the GRand Floridian. I have NOT been there so understandably I was in the dark.
Crash, we have been to Grand Floridian once for an anniversary but we had been to Victoria and Albert's before that (also for an anniversary). Very pricey, but a great experience. I read a review about it way back in 2000 and was looking for an excuse to go there for years. I don't think it gets much publicity because it is adults only and WDW is mostly families:confused3
Very elegant place. And a CM saw me later by the monorail with my rose and souvenir menu and she was so excited to tell me that she still had her menu from a visit 3 years prior and remembered the experience as her best ever.

Oh yeah! I guess you do. We are off of New Braddock road. I actually grew up in Fairfax County, so I've been here forever, it seems. :)

DH and I are from NY originally and moved here back in '94

Oh yeah, love those coffee pots:thumbsup2
I was like a kid with a new toy when they brought that out:laughing:

:thumbsup2She's right Crash. We're actually very close to the border of Herndon and Chantilly, just barely in Fairfax.

Funny thing I heard on the radio this morning concerning the snow storm we were suppose to have..."when they said 1-3 who knew they were talking about snow flakes?":rolleyes1

But I was very relieved that the snow didn't come as expected because I managed to score a last minute dr appointment:woohoo:

Okay....not to scare you or anything....but I think I could almost walk to your house:rolleyes1
We are in Franklin Glen, near the Franklin Farm Giant.

Gotta get us ladies together for a Star Bucks Dis meet:woohoo:

M, we'll have to plan a Dis meet before you move:confused3

Too funny! You must have been having fun with everone to chance being late for such a FUN appt!! :)
The group was small at that one...and either Tom and Roger were not there, or decided to have pity on us and let someone else get one:rotfl:

I actually rely on the Red Door near me (Fairfax Corner for those fairfax folks;)) for coloring my hair. Had some bad experiences years back with cheaper places and the ladies at Red Door always do a great job for a decent price. But since I find their fun spa treatments (massages, facials, etc) to be as good as those on the ship I rarely book the Vista Spa on DCL since I can get most of it at home:confused3

Where did the 5000th post go:confused3
I usually pass my milestones without even realizing it:upsidedow

Yeah, about that snow storm! I was in Tampa all week and was surprised when I checked in for my flight and saw United had issued travel waivers for IAD and up. So I checked weather.com, and they said there was a 100% chance of snow for IAD at 10pm. My flight was scheduled to land at 9pm. Could have been bad, but thankfully it didn't materialize for us.

Regarding neighborhoods, since you mention the starbucks by our house, I guess if I said "Chantilly Highlands" you'd know exactly where I live!

Since we're having a Fairfax fest can I jump in too? We also live off of Centerville Rd in the Oak Hill area between 50 and the Toll Rd! Also grew up in Fairfax though I went away for college and work before coming back.

Where did you go to school? I am dating myself, but I was the second full class at West Potomac that didn't attend Groveton or Fort Hunt. (1990 was the year I graduated) I was so happy when they combined the schools because I was in the Groveton school zone and after my Brother had a lot of problems there, I was looking at private school.

I went away to college too, but only one state over in Tennessee.

Very elegant place. And a CM saw me later by the monorail with my rose and souvenir menu and she was so excited to tell me that she still had her menu from a visit 3 years prior and remembered the experience as her best ever.

I have my menu from our first visit too! Of course, it was our honeymoon in 2000, and you tend to keep those things. :)

Oh yeah, love those coffee pots:thumbsup2
I was like a kid with a new toy when they brought that out:laughing:

My parents actually bought us one, but it isn't the same. I mean it IS the same, but it loses something not having them make it for us. :)

Gotta get us ladies together for a Star Bucks Dis meet:woohoo:

That would be fun! Who doesn't love Starbucks? :rotfl2:
