Hi. I've looked through and done a search but I couldn't find any info for a June 2015 thread. We were originally thinking of going next September again but I just found a really good deal on flight if we go in June instead. And since I've never gone in June, I have a few questions that I would love some help with from the pros.

We are looking at landing on June 6th (so starting in the park on the 7th). Staying for a week and doing 5 days in the park and a 1 day break in there as we found doing straight days with no break too much on our son last month).

Is there anything going on during that weekend/week that might make us re-think going then?

What are the crowds like then? Up here, the kids are still in school but I don't know if the school year is different elsewhere and it might make it busier.

Are the rides generally up for the summer or are a lot still under referb?ch

Anything else that might make us think that June is a great time or should we stick to our original plan and hope that we get another great seat sale (which we couldn't find for last month when we started looking)?

Thanks.

Grand nights will be going on in June. Here are the dates currently scheduled, they can add more.

May 13, 15, 16, 18, 26, 27, 29, 30
June 2, 3, 5, 6, 10, 12, 13, 17, 19

We are going the 6-13th so we'll be there the same time as you, also taking a break in the middle of the trip. Generally there are not too many refurbs at this time, though there will always be some. We are from Northern California and some of the schools up here are out, DD gets out the end of May. Some schools don't get out til Mid June. This summer we went the same week of June and enjoyed it. Crowds were lighter than they were for our August trip the prior year. We had 2 days with Grand nights and we were not bothered by them. Just planned around them and went to DCA for most of the day and moved to DL around dinner time when the grads started moving over to DCA.
Though I know others have had poor experiences with grad nights and try to avoid them, they werent a problem for us. We're willing to deal with a couple of them again.

Thanks for that info. The grad nights might not come into play much for us if we land on the 6th so we would miss that one. Then in the park 7th, 8th and 9th. Take the 10th off and then in 11th and 12th. So it would just be the 12th. And with a kid who will be 4 at the time, we don't do much past about 7:30pm. And since I have no idea what grad night is, I may do a bit of research into that ;)

We generally go every year around the 19th for our anniversary and it always includes a weekend. I know I've never *noticed* a Grad Night Party but that doesn't mean they haven't happened while I was there. On the other hand, it's nice to think that assuming there was a party, it wasn't even apparent to us.

Your dates are very similar to ours. The 12th is also the only grad night we'll have to deal with. For the Grad nights, DCA shuts down early (9?) and the grads get to have a private party in it that night. They also get a park hopper during the day so most of them tend to go into DL when they first arrive and then move over to DCA as it gets closer to their party time. Their numbers increase as the day wears on.

Many people have said they have had trouble during grad night days with groups of teens cutting in line and acting inappropriately, speaking inappropriately. We didn't experience this and I really think its because we stuck to DCA during the daytime. We didn't really start to notice the increase in teens until dinner time.

ETA My kids are 3 and 7 so we tend to not spend a lot of time on bigger rides and we also usually turn in early.

So much to think about and just under 6hrs to decide if we're going to do it or not, and if so, book and pay for things. Eek!!

How much money are we talking? Because September will have a lot less crowds vs. June. Of course, you don't get all the fireworks everynight either. If this savings are minimal, stick with your plan. But if you can save 2 or 3 hundred, then June is a good option. Money is money.

We went last month and spent $1500 on flights alone. The sale has them for just under $1000. So that's a pretty big savings.
