June 2010

We are heading back to the World June 17th-June 25th. We will have 8 adults and my baby (will be 13 months old in June) going. I am super excited to take my son on his first Disney Trip!

My hubby just told us that we are "going to Disney World" in June. I'm looking at June 6-12. I am hoping to eat with the Villans at the Grand Floridian! What is this pin that some of you are mentioning? We went in January 2008 and stayed at POFQ. It was wonderful but we like change and would like to experience the magic at a different resort. Suggestions? My son will be 2 weeks away from turning 6 and my daughter will be 8 1/2.:yay:

they have a villians meal at GF now??? if so i want to go too!!!

This will be my family's first trip to Disney. We are staying at SSR Villa June 17-22. It will be me, my husband, and our two daughters, age 9 and 5. We are also taking my husband's parents with us. We are currently planning, but there are so many things to see and do...I'm not sure what things to pick....any suggestions. We have the bibbity bobbity boutique in our planning (and maybe golf for my husband and father-in-law, while the girls get their princess make overs). Has anyone seen a dinner show?

My kids enjoyed the aloha show at the polynesian resort and they always love to eat at Chef Mickeys. The SCiFi Dine In restaurant is a fun experience too.

I am hoping to eat with the Villans at the Grand Floridian!

No longer a villian (sp?) character breakfast at GF---breakfast is with Mary Poppins, Alice & Mad Hatter & Dinner is with Cindy, Prince Charming, & the Steps.

We are booked at POR June 19 to June 27. Cant wait it will be me, DS 10, DS 6, and my parents. Already got our 2 ADRs since we are using the QSDP. I have a Disney box so when I see things cheap for the boys, I will throw in that box.. I think I might need a smaller box because one suitcase could be filled with just this stuff if I dont watch it. Thank goodness for Southwest Airlines!

Just booked at Dolphin for 5/31 - 6/4....

This will be our family's 7th trip (including kids), but our first in June! I know it will be hot, but we're from Louisiana and we know what to expect. We've always come during February when our kids were out of school for a week at Mardi Gras! Now we can really take advantage of the water rides without freezing!!

Also made two ADRs...we like flexibility and do a lot of counter service. But SciFi is a must for us!! We just love it so I'm thrilled I was able to book it! Couldn't book it on my own for last trip, had to go with a friend with DP to get it so I'm thrilled I got it this time.

And I'm especially thrilled that I got Cali Grill for Wishes one night!! Woo hoo!!!

May the countdown begin!!!

:cool1:

Yup, add our family to the list. I've got some mixed thoughts and plans about our vacation. I did think about a pre-trip report; but gosh...there are so many of those. So, in no particular order:

*a few years back spent a year blogging on the wish board about WW. My gift to myself this past year was to weigh in UNDER my goal weight. I did that. Eating my way through WDW has never been a solution for ME; and I am not about to start in 2010. I eat to fuel during my normal week; my body gets stressed out enough during our annual vacations.

*another train of thought is making ADR's in abundance. As of right now...I'm sticking with 2 for the whole week. We'll do CS because that is much easier to manage...for us.

*our situation is a bit unique in that my best friend who lives in the Tampa area comes with us for our yearly annual vacations. We fly into Tampa and we spend the night at his home. We then set off in his trusty car for a new adventure. This year, we booked under his name for the FL resident discount.

*reflecting back on my trip reports in 2001 I've come a long way. My writing has actually improved...constructive criticism is NOT a bad thing.

*gone are the days of commando touring. I've purposedly set up our days with 1 day at the resort/1 day at a park. My best friend is getting up there and quite frankly we don't want to scare him off (and it really should be some kind of vacation, after all).

*our son is part of the growing process. He'll be 15 and our touring plans aren't quite the same as when he was a toddler/pre-schooler. I have to prepare myself because he has much practice with the "entitlement" issues. He's gotten it to a fine art...he really, really knows how to push my buttons.

*I don't subscribe to the annual "we HAVE to do Disney" every year. We've been fortunate to visit quite a few different places in the USA. What I've done is prepare for those annual treks LIKE a trip to WDW and have become quite adapt at running us ragged for 10 days. I always come home needing a vacation from my vacation.

*as the years have gone by, I've adapted our theme park touring. No longer do I haul these huge back packs through the parks. I've gotten a beautiful AK/WDW sling/tour/day pouch and it is all about efficiency and function. I've also gone the way of video taping and made the switch to DSLR. This will be our 1st trip to the world with that camera and it will be different.

*yeah, I wear a GOH name tag...and my family goes along with it. However, I don't tell anyone what to wear or when. Especially the teen. I plan specifically what to wear on what day...and of course, it has to have the official WDW resort tag somewhere on it. So if you see some wahoo all decked out during that time...it's probably some middle aged guy from the central TX area.

*the never ending footwear debate continues on here on the DIS very actively. I will spend some time admiring all those who choose the mighty flip-flop as the overwhelming shoe of choice. Me? I'm making the choice to go sock free and bringing 2 pairs of Ecco's. It's true...you get what you pay for. Walking 16 miles in 1 day my feet are just numb...no matter what I wear.

*we're leaving right when our son gets out of school. We've noticed in years past many families from TX do so. We also are looking forward to a day at HS for SWW. Though anxious to try Midway Mania, we will focus on getting some great photo's with the SW characters.

*with all the positive information the 'net has brought about WDW; it's brought bad too and realistically I can't ignore that. I'm talking specifically about behaviors of others that I can't control. I have to be very mindful because reacting never gets me the results I want...

We are leaving on the 5th very early :cool1: I know it will be tough to get my 4 year old up but I want to spend as much time as possible at Disney. The last time we went we were able to go on May 27th because Texas schools got out earlier. Now that we don't get out until 6/3 we have to wait until 6/5 to leave :sad2: I am hoping the crowds and heat won't be toooo bad yet. We have 7 adrs. i am a little nervous about some of them with a 4 year old, but I think if we take a mid day break everyday he will be fine. Let's hope........

Thanks so much for your reply. How many times have you been to Disney?? Seems like you are very knowledgeable. I have a question though. How do you get all these graphics/pics/countdowns, etc....???

For the countdowns, just click on someone else's countdown. It will take you to the website, and you fill out your information. Then in your signature, paste the link. I hope this helps.

Add us too please!! We're going to be at the Polynesian June 18th - 25th. Thanks!!

Not sure if I posted or not---tentatively June 14-21
