June 1st VGF stay

We have a stay at VGF starting June 1st for 6 nights. Obviously things are still quite up in the air with regards to how things will evolve over the next few weeks.

Here is where we are with regards to this trip:
-Stay was booked with banked points from 2019, current UY (Feb) points, and points borrowed from 2021
-We have not made any travel arrangements yet
-We have several 1 day passes that we won at a charity auction that we were going to use for this trip that expire at the end of 2020

I think that the resorts may be able to open by June 1st but I'm not sure that the parks will be able to open by then. None the less, my wife and I are nervous about going to the parks even if they do open by June 1st.

My current understanding is that if I cancel 31 days or more before check in my banked and borrowed points will stay in 2020 but I can still bank my 2020 points into 2021. If I wait and the VGF is not open then the borrowed points will go back to 2021 and I can bank my 2020 points. The banked 2019 points will have to be used in the 2020 UY.

If I cancel then I am not sure I will be able to use the points that are stuck in the 2020 UY. I can probably use the banked points from 2019 but that is not for sure.

Has anyone canceled a stay that starts after June 1st and been able to return borrowed points?

As of today, they are returning borrowed points for June stays. I have read reports that people have been successful as late as July.

I, too, was able to cancel and have points returned for my previously scheduled May and July trips.

We had to cancel our March trip and we had almost all borrowed points. The points went right back to the original year from which they were borrowed. I think they had a rocky start to returning borrowed points mostly because it wasn't communicated properly on their end but I think right now they're making it right for people canceling.

I just canceled via chat messaging on the DVC website. The process was very easy and I think faster than if I had called. As stated. I will be able to bank my 2020 points. The points that I borrowed will go back to 2021. I will have to use/rent my 2019 points.
