does anyone have a 11 year old son and a 17 year old daughter going on the three night cruise

We'll also be on the June 11th 3-night cruise.

I have three boys, but a little younger. My oldest will be a couple of weeks from his 10th birthday when we cruise and then I also have twins who are almost 8.

Sorry, I'm the only girl in our family!

By the way -- we're also from Texas (D/FW area).

We live in Flower Mound. What part of DFW are y'all from? Have you cruised on Disney before? This is our 2nd Disney Cruise. Maybe we can all meet up before the sail away celebration. We did this on our last Disney Cruise with a family who had kids around the same ages. And they had a great time during the cruise together.
Me and my husband are around you and your husband age. I am 38 and my husband will be 39.

I will help him find this thread this week so he can talk to you. Have you been on a cruise before? He doesnt want to go to the kids clubs and we were wondering if they are fun.

Wow! I have been away form the boards for a little while, and then I come back to find we now have a meet thread going.

Krissy,

We are just down the road in Bedford. I used to work as a school counselor at Lamar MS there in Flower Mound (although that was 10 years ago). Are your kids in Lewisville ISD? I bet you just had a fun week with the closing and re-opening of schools.

This will be our first cruise, and the whole family is very excited. I think the boys are really looking forward to the lab. Our twins will turn 8 just two weeks after we sail so we plan to request for them to be in the lab with their brother instead of in the club with the younger ones. I think it would be great if they could all meet your son. He probably has some great advice for them.

I am interested in the FE gift exchange, but it looks like we may just be a group of 3 or 4 families so far as I scrolled through this thread. Is that enough to really do an exchange? Let me know.

By the way ... I am Holly, my DH is Mike and the boys are Justin, Aaron & Brandon.

Looking forward to hearing back from you and hopefully some more will join in on our thread.

Holly

We're on board for this one. First Disney cruise. Just 3 - me, wife and daughter - 13. Any "early" teens on board let us know in case my daughter wants to hook up. She seemed a little intimidated by the idea of a club for her age.

Holly....I think no matter how many families we have on wonder from the boards that the FE gift exchange will be fun. If you can send me a private message with your room number and I will start putting a list together for everyone who might be interested.

We are looking forward to meeting you and your family.

We did this on our last cruise and my daughter became good friends with a girl from Tallahassee and she even went on vacation with us last year in Orlando. Hopefully our boys will have a great time and become friends.

My kids are in LISD and needless to say were not happy to go back to school on Thursday. My daughter is a junior at Marcus and my son is in 5th grade at Flower Mound Elementary.

Your boys will have a great time in the lab.

You will be hooked on cruising once you take this cruise.

Are y'all doing any Disney parks before or after the cruise?

If anyone on this cruise is interested in doing a fish extender gift exchange send me a private message with your room number, how many people in your family and kids ages along with any food allegeries. I will then compile a master list of everyone wanting to participate and send private messages to everyone.

From other cruise meet links everyone seems to have a lot of fun doing this. When we took our 1st Disney Cruise no one on our board did this and now hearing all the fun and cute items I want to participate on our cruise.

Our group right now seems small but it could still be fun. Especially since our kids ages seem to be fairly close. With the exception of my 17 yr daughter. She sure is hoping for some more teenagers close to her age.

Thanks

Krissy

And if they do become friends, I think it would be a much shorter commute for them to see each other again after returning home.

Oh no -- a Marauder! I taught geometry at Lewisville High back when that was still a pretty strong rivalry. Now that there are more high schools in LISD I don't know if the Maruader vs. Farmer issue is quite so heated (?)

You will be hooked on cruising once you take this cruise.

I am already sold before we even set sail. I am hoping it hooks my husband -- I requested another cruise for my 40th birthday.

Are y'all doing any Disney parks before or after the cruise?

We will be there for 4 days pre-cruise and then spend another day when we get off the boat before heading home.

The commute and phone calls will be much cheaper for me.

There is still the strong rival between MHS and LHS. They still have the Battle of the Ax football game. Now our big rival is with Flower Mound High School and Marcus. They have the Battle of the Mound football game. Last year both football games were played at Texas Stadium and this year they will be played at the new Cowboy stadium.

It took me 15 years to get my husband to finally go on a cruise and now he is hooked. All he wants to do is cruise. Our budget can't afford to cruise DCL all the time even with me being a travel agent. We do love Disney though. As you can see in my signature line we have gone to WDW numerous times. This will be the first year that we are going to Orlando and not going to the parks. We are staying at the Hyatt Grand Cypress for 2 nights, then driving to stay at the Radisson in Cape Canaveral, cruise for 3 nights and then staying at Disney's Beach Club for 2 nights before flying home.

What time are y'all planning to get to port on Thursday?

Somehow "Battle of the Mound" doesn't sound quite as fierce as "Battle of the Ax." But then again, I never thought "Fighting Farmers" sounded particularly dangerous either. You just can't beat the high school football hype in Texas. I was with LISD for the 1993 and 1996 Farmer state championships and now I have been with HEB ISD for the two times that Trinity won state.

I don't know exactly what time we will be arriving at the terminal on Thursday. We have reservations at Boma for breakfast at Animal Kingdom Lodge at 8:40 and then we will drive to the port from there. I guess it depends on how long we take to eat. Do you plan to arrive early?

We are driving to port on June 10 and spending the night at the Radisson. We hope to be at port by around 11:00 a.m. and board as soon as possible. If though our room won't be ready yet we want to be able to eat lunch around 12:30 -1:00 and have time to relax before all the excitement begins. On our first cruise we took DCL bus to get to port and it didn't arrive until 2:00 p.m. and we felt so rushed to get through clearance at port, on board, eat something and before we knew it it was time for the lifeboat drill, sailaway party and then off to our 1st show since we had late dinner.

This time we want to eat early, relax and really enjoy the sailaway party. This cruise we have main dining at 5:15 p.m. On this cruise I think the only show we plan on seeing is the Toy Story show.

What time is your dining?

I'm thinking of booking this cruise, depends on when/if surgery is scheduled for our 4 yo ds. We find out Wednesday when he goes to the doctor if this is the summer for surgery.

It will just be myself and our oldest daughter- who will turn 15 on the cruise. My husband returned from a year deployment to Afghanistan a little over a month ago and the cruise will be my reward for making it through the year alone with the four kids and not running off. :rotfl2: Oldest dd is coming because she was such a huge help to me.

Hoping we'll be joining you.

Julie
