June 10, 2006 Cruise Thread CONTINUED

re: DVC - I'm just glad that I made a lot of $$'s recently on it. Can't wait for my 2nd VWL to sell. Apparently there are a lot of resales lately. So glad the first one sold already.

BTW,,,, 95$ is unacceptable. What a screw job. I don't like it and I am going to complain. I have been in DVC since 1994 and this seems like bad management. Are they not getting enough money? There is a limit that I have with Disney tolerance. I was reading the thread and the people that were accepting were ones that weren't using the benefit. Irrelevant. That was a perk as long as I can remember. Is that their plan? Start removing perks. Good PR. I suspect DVC is very profittable,,, maybe more than anybody ever thought. Tons of money up front. How can you beat that? I even just added on. I will have to call our advisor.
Bill

Bill: I'm so glad someone else thinks the way I do. I feel that $95 makes the perk no longer a perk--especially when you might only stay for a night to two. I feel it is something they still advertise as a perk whenever I'm over at the Doorway to Dreams store up here.

Please do complain. The thread made me a little crazy. I really tried to understand their logic, IMHO but there should be no administrative fees. It's MS who handles the whole ressie--it doesn't transfer to CRO like other exchanges do. "Cupgate" got the policy reversed seemingly w/in the week.

Good luck w/ Billy. Some of us in life have to learn our mistakes the hard way. Many of my students get it when they're stuck at a community college for 2 years while their friends go away. I had a student who did go away, partied too much. Her parents brought her home & made her go to community college for 1 year AND work a job to help pay back at least some of the tuition $ she wasted. She learned her lesson quickly. ;)

Who are "BOYS TO    " ? Is it a group? You're getting way too :cool2: for us Bill!

Kay: I think there are a lot of resales b/c of the economy these days. Sorry about your pool troubles.

we were on the 3rd page!!!!!

all is good here....getting back into the swing of things this week [back to school and dance]. my recital is so soon! ive been busy collecting patrons and ads for dance. =/ phew!

Christine: thanks for bumping us back to page 1.

it sure is cold here in so. fl. - had to wear a sweater today. went to a luncheon at Bahia Mar for the Annual Volunteer Banquet. it was absolutely beautiful and about 500 people showed up out of 600 volunteers.

many great door prizes were given out.

we had a 50/50 and collected $500. the hospital didn't keep 50%, but gave the whole amount out in two separate drawings. the first one was drawn at the start of the banquet and the last one was drawn at the very end.

well, guess who won the last one...........

I did :woohoo: :woohoo:

it was a wonderful ending to a nice luncheon. I left very happy

it is suppose to warm up tomorrow - that will be nice.

BILL: did everything end up OK on Sunday???????????

Kay you are so lucky! Congrats. :thumbsup2

Christine it was nice to find us on page 1.

It's actually supposed to be one degree warmer here than in Orlando tomorrow. Sorry Kay--but we need the warmth here.

Liam is finally having his b-day party this weekend. We're taking his 2 BFFs to a new water park called Key Lime Cove on Saturday.

waterpark --- sounds so fun!

so we are trying to plan a trip down to disney....i mean to see my brother perform with his drum core in florida! haha...i would take my best friend, julianna, and we would only have 3 days at disney. my friend has never even been on a plane before so this would be very fun. i hope we can do it!

longggggg day of school and dance. i still havent touched my homework. ill pray that i get it done!

signing out --------------- [hehe]

Christine: sharing the Magic of Disney w/ a friend should be fun! We only went for 3 days in Feb which I thought wouldn't be enough, but we picked which things were most important & didn't try to do it ALL.

Hello to all!

I can't figure out what's happening w/ my signature. It keeps changing, as if they took space away & then gave it back. ???

Today's it's back.

Yello, Y'all. Mammaw is in the stepdown unit. Don't exactly know what to think. I'm tired. Haven't talked to our rep with DVC. Tired. Billy has taken a turn for the better. Don't understand. After about 10 assignments, he is getting an average of 96 or better in about four classes. :dance3: :cool1: :worship: Unbevivable(Viva towels). :rotfl2: :rotfl2: If it holds up. No reason to think so yet. His average in Chemistry is 100%. :woohoo: :woohoo: WHY SCREW IT UP NOW? We'll see. Don't yet know about the other classes. Boy, Mary, I am unhappy with the 95$. I ended up paying it on the recent cruise booking and didn't realize what was going on . NOT HAPPY.
Bill

Bill: what is a stepdown unit???????? tell us :confused3

very happy for Billy - I love him - and miss him. we've had some good talks together

am a little tired tonight.

Been getting the house straightened up a little. Told you already that I had the back yard (2 ft. stepping stones all over the yard and no grass) pressured cleaned, including the spa porch and the outdoor/indoor carpet around the pool pressure cleaned and it looks good.

Yesterday had the roof and double driveway pressure cleaned. All looks so nice and clean and almost new. When he was on the roof, I told the guy to be very, very careful with the solor panels (7 of them) on the roof and not mess anything up with them. Didn't want to take them down, as the solar company charges about $500 to remove and replace. Didn't want that expense.

My DD is thinking about buying a larger house with one end of it for me w/an outside entrance. Then I would sell my house and give them $$'s towards their house. I hate to think of me living here alone w/the house valued at so much. For some reason that bothers me at my age. Crazy thoughts.!!!!!

Looking forward to my Germany trip in about 60 days. It is hard to wait for that one. :cool1:

OK I'm off to watch Survivor.

Who is watching these shows:

BB9

Survivor

Dancing w/the Stars

AI

I love the show "7th Heaven". I watch 2 hours of it each day. It comes on at 1 and 2 pm.

Hello All

Things are well here. Stacy turned 10 this week! What happened to my "little" baby! She has grown up so fast!

Looking for a place to stay in Orlando this summer. . . it looks like we will be there May 30 to June 8. (or so where during those dates) Doing the Universal thing and other Orlando things.

Headed to the beach next Friday with Paul's parents. A yearly long weekend trip!

Stacy got an A on her science project. . .only 4 more projects be for May 21!

Have a great weekend!

Char

BILL: I googled "step down unit". I understand it now. Hope she hangs on for the cruise. I know how much she wants to go.

CHAR: yes, our little ones grow up so fast. I look at my oldest G/DD and she is 11 now. I remember when she was born and so beautiful and so small.

Have fun planning your trip to Orlando. It should be load of fun. Nice to do other things besides Disney sometimes.

Hi Everyone!

Can't believe we returned from Mexico a full week ago. It was absolutely heavenly! I would go back in a heartbeat! Always lots to catch up on when you return from a trip... :laundy: :surfweb:

pixiedust: to Mammaw!

Kim, you must have been shaken out of your bed early this morning! I thought of you as soon as I heard about that earthquake. :scared: I hope you are all ok!!

Everyone seems to be overwhelmed with projects of one kind or another. It's that time of year! :scared: The offset here in Northeast Ohio is that at least it's finally warming up! It's supposed to get near 80 today - I'll take it! Hang in there everyone :goodvibes - good luck with the projects!

:grouphug:

Hi!

I didn't wake up for the earthquake, but many other people did. Only damage was near the center in New Salem, IL.

Bill: Do you have to pay $95 to book your cruise using points too??? :headache:

Glad to hear Billy is doing better. I hope MamMaw is doing ok.

Char: Congrats on the Science project. We'll miss you by about 3 days in Orlando. Which things at Universal are you planning to do?

Dee: I'm jealous that you've already hit 80 in OH. We're hovering in the 50s or 60s mostly which feel wonderful.

Kay: With all your traveling, do you really need a house. JK :rotfl2: :rotfl: Sometimes it seems like you are always on vacation. That's a big step to move into a house w/ your daughter. I love my Mom, but Lord knows we need our space sometimes. Would the grandkids bother you too much?

Have a nice weekend everyone!! :flower3:

My other ticker isn't showing up again & I didn't change anything in my siggie :confused3

I'm think I'm going crazy. Now, when I just posted the 2nd time. My other ticker was gone????

Anyone help ever have this problem??

Mary: don't know what is happening to siggies. maybe someone is doing something :confused3

go over to the tech board and post what is happening.

I'm not doing too much traveling right now. sort of tired of doing so many cruises and going to the same places and seeing the same things always. Of course, have the Germany trip booked also the DVC Backstage Tour in September. Going some great places out in CA including the Disney Archives and Walt's train Barn in LA Park. Can't beat that. The schedule is great on that tour. I just have to book my airfare now.

MARYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY,,,,,,,,YOU BET!!!!!!! 95$ for each reservation. Two reservations for two cruises. I am surprised that they didn't charge four charges. I talked with my DVC cronie, oops, agent. He said that it was inevitable that DVC would have to start charges for all of the reservations at WDW.. Too much time involved with waiting for the WDW operators to swing things. I don't tend to believe it. I think that this is the beginning of an action which will continue in the future to continue the extreme profittability of the DVC by minimizing the expenses. Once you lure someone in, how will they just up and leave. I expect to see more changes that will contradict the initial appearance of the vacation club. Hope that I'm wrong. 95$ booking charge is just wrong. It is obscene.
Bill

Mary. . .we purchased a 7 day pass for Universal (7 days for $86.00). . .I went years ago but I know it has changed a lot now. . .DH is looking forward to the roller coasters. . .DD is hoping for one day at Disney! Any recommendations?

Char

Char,,, can i throw in two cents worth. We stayed at a Universal hotel, Pacific something. when you stay at a Universal hotel, you get an unlimited fast pass. We did that and Billy alone rode Revenge of the Mummy roller coaster at least 30 times. It got to the point that the people waiting in line were angry that he would just keep going around and around. We did all of the things to do without waiting and then went back to the hotel to rest, knowing that we could do it all again later without waiting. Even though the price of the hotel is two hundred,,, the pay back is well worth it for the passes. AND they are unlimited !!!!!!!!! the hotel was very good , but the passes were the greatest. I doubt that I will ever go there again without staying at an on site hotel.
Bill We had the four of us in the room and got four fast passes.

finally its the weekend!!!
