June 1, 2015 Wonder to Alaska

To clarify..... are you requesting for more Skagway recommendations?

If you like ice cream.... do check out Bella's and La Casa when in Vancouver...
When I talked to him I was looking for Skagway recommendations, his ice cream place recommendation was not because I was looking for food ideas. Apparently the place he mentioned is very much liked by locals. Good to know about the places in Vancouver, my niece and nephew are big fans of ice cream.

Well, we booked our air - got RT / Non-Stop from Newark to Vancouver on United/Air Canada for @ $480 pp - the day before we booked it, it was $768pp so - it looks like we got a pretty good deal. Only thing is we arrive in Vancouver at @ 9:30pm on May 30th, and need to add one night at the end of the cruise, as the return is at 9am, and we won't make that on June 8th!

We also booked The Blue Horizon Hotel, through Booking dot com - paying @ $140/night - pre & post cruise for a Queen room and a little more for a double queen room. FYI - pre-cruise was cheaper with more rooms available, and post cruise was @ $30 more per night. Best part is we don't have to deposit for the room, or pay until check in. And we have until the night before to cancel, so I will keep checking rates.

Next up our PIF date = which is Feb 1st - and coming fast!! - and I want to begin to FINALIZE EXCURSIONS!!! :confused3 :surfweb:

Has anyone booked any on their own yet? If so, please feel free to share any info you would like to!!

And / Or - what are you all planning on booking through DCL?

Who is planning on doing a Palo's Brunch and Palo's Dinner - if you are not - I HIGHLY recommend BOTH - but if you have to pick just one - GO WITH BRUNCH -without a doubt!!

It is getting closer!! WOO HOO!!

My husband signed us up (through another Disney group) but I would love to meet other Dis folks since these are the podcasts I listen to! So looking forward to the trip. It's our first cruise!

Hi everyone! So excited, just booked our cruise. It will be my husband and I and our DD that will be 6 years old and celebrating her Kinder graduation. She knows we will go to Alaska but has NO IDEA it's DCL's Wonder. (Don't know how much longer I can keep it a surprise)

This will be our first time to Alaska and first Disney cruise. We have cruised several times before, actually my husband says cruising is the only way to go, but never with Disney. Always wanted to do a Disney cruise but the Caribbean and Bahamas itineraries do not call my attention, we live in Puerto Rico, so when we travel I want to see something different.

I know it's late, but I'm still on the early stages of planning. Still haven't booked my flight or hotel. But almost sure we will travel to Vancouver and stay there a couple of days post cruise.

I keep reading about FE, but have no idea what it entails or what I have to do, but I think I want to join.

Will be bothering you with silly questions, like, totally confused on what to pack, is there an event where kids dress up (Princess costume), etc. Also, does cruise provide for a meet and greet?

Welcome! Your daughter will just love the cruise as is at the perfect age to enjoy the princesses and characters around the ship. The cruise provides many opportunities to meet different characters, particularly around dinner time. The locations and times will be in the Navigator(schedule of events).

People dress up on Pirate night but our cruise will not have one. We will have Pixar night instead but I'm not sure if people dress up for that. I do, however, always see little girls dressed up in princess dresses.

The FE is an activity where people give gifts to those on the FE list. It can be candy, something that represents your hometown, a craft, travel items, etc. Families walk to their assigned staterooms and drop off the gifts in a bag that hangs from a fish shaped book outside the stateroom. This will be our fifth disney cruise and I have never participated. I'm usually overwhelmed before the trip, and the thought of buying and packing all those items just doesn't work for me. But it seems fun to go to your stateroom and find surprises!

Hello everyone!--we are going to be joining everyone in June. I'm so excited. My husband surprised me with the cruise for Christmas--even going to the point of thinking we were going on another cruise company's ship and having their book sent to the house. But when I opened the alaskan disney ornament and then the reservation notification--I was ecstatic!!

This is our second disney cruise and my second time to Alaska.

We started looking around alone and found a lot of references to the FE gift exchange and the boards about getting involved. I love this!--its great to be around friends that are excited like we are!:wizard:pirate:

Hello Everyone:wave2:-new to the boards here! We're flying in a couple days early, driving down to Seattle the day before (Sunday) and we're looking at doing the train ride or whatever options we have for panning for gold/the bbq salmon meal. pluto:

any recommendations on the excursions from anyone? (since its our first time on this cruise...)

Hey! we just book our flights too... we're staying Best Western because it was a little cheaper and I have deals through work with Hertz for the rental care pre-cruise.

Looks like you can't start booking cruises until March...if you're registered on disney cruises online they posted the date.

definitely THANKS for the referral on Palo. We forged Palo last time because it was the last night of the cruise (4-day Bahama Dream) because we were in Animator's and it was worth it because being our honeymoon, Crush got my husband to speak in "whale" to me, saying "i love you.." it was beautiful!

We are also new to the site and we would love to be added to the FE adult only list!

Hello! my husband and I would love to be on the adult only FE list! This is our second disney cruise and saw all the Fish extenders in the hallways last time and would love to participate. I would love to keep the tradition going if we go on cruises more as we get older and have kids of our own to participate!

Looks like a few of us newbies on the board here would love to know how to sign up...help!?

Oh! this is one of the excursions we were thinking of doing! mostly for the food but everyone can pan for gold! :)

i can't remember if I joined this thread or not, but we're on this cruise!:cool1::cool1::cool1:

Here is the updated FE list. We've had a number of changes since the last post. Please make sure your information is correct and let me know if any changes need to be made. popcorn::Also, the list will be closed on April 1 in order to allow everyone time to gather their "pixie dust".pixiedust: At that point in time if any late comers want to start a new list they are more than welcome to do so. :thumbsup2

I hope this reply attaches to the correct question, I apologize I always have difficulty with this site. I would recommend going to Pikes Place Market in Seattle. Make sure to visit the World Famous fish market on the south end and if you like clam chowder, my husband's favorite is in the alley sort of across from the south side of Sur La Table if I remember correctly. They serve several types of chowders. There is also an aquarium nearby and lots of shops too. You could also take a ferry ride to Bremerton or another place but I forget what it's called. Pikes Place Market is definitely a must in my opinion.

thank you! We were thinking of checking out Pikes Market... and I LOVE clam chowder so I shall definitely consider the recommendation.

Anyone else? And does anyone from Canada or the Washington (state) area know the actual drive time. I've heard getting across the board from Canada to US is a lengthy wait.

Hi all,

BF and I are on this cruise. First ever with Disney. First ever cruise period. First trip to Alaska. Heck despite having been to eight other countries in my life, first trip to Canada!

I greatly look forward to stalking, err, I mean, spending time with Donald Duck.
