June 1, 2013 Let's Get This Party Started!

My DS is also 11, and is very excited about going to the Edge. His favorite thing when he was 9 at the Lab was the video game tables, and he was always holding court with a bunch of others his age whenever we picked him up. So being able to do his own gaming thing at the Edge is very appealing to him. Maybe we can get the boys together once we're on board so that they have some buds to hang with that first evening at the Edge. He's a mature 11 year old (well, he will be in March), and has never questioned the rules we lay down (i.e. going into a friend's cabin or inviting someone back with him when we're not there) - so we feel confident in letting him have his own time around the ship while we do other things. He's already looking forward to mini golf and basketball, neither of which we took the time to do last time. Here's to 3 sea days!!! We're also leaning heavily toward the Doubloon excursion. We enjoy snorkeling, but that's probably enough time for us.

Hey everyone... sorry I have been so MIA here. Gone over the holidays to WDW then really bad news about one of our dogs (she has cancer and won't be with us much longer). Needless to say I have been pretty emotional about it all. I am going to try to really throw myself into my work as well as cruise planning to keep my mind off of it - but it will still be really tough for my whole family the next few months as Lily's health declines - rapidly.

OK FE.... I will need to know all of the names in your cabin and ages of your children. If you have your cabin number now great. I will need that too. If not just let me know as soon as you do.

If you aren't comfortable with sharing this information here that is fine. You can send me a PM or let me know on our FB page.

As soon as I hear from our "newbies" I will post an updated version of the list.

We just got home from WDW on Wednesday night. I wish I had known that you were there. We could have met up. Where did you stay? I have never in my life seen that place so busy and this was our 4th Christmas/ NYE there!

We arrived on the 21st and stayed until the 29th - at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge.

We didn't go to the MK that often and mostly went to the parks in the morning before less hardy souls were out (it was chilly).

Christmas day we avoided all parks. How was NYE?

We arrived the 21st also! We checked into the Beach Club Villas then headed straight over to the Christmas Party that night.
We too were early morning park goers. Most of the time we only stayed a couple of hours before leaving when the crowds arrived.
Christmas day we had lunch at Le Cellier, roamed around WS then later in the evening went to Animal Kingdom to do a night ride on EE.
NYE was a mess. We had dinner at Ohana, then went to the MK just to get the Sorcerer's cards and the park was a mob scene and that was at 11:00. We made a quick escape. Epcot was wall to wall people as well. We ended up watching fireworks from the Beach Club and that was just fine.

We came home on the 2nd and the crowds had finally started thinning a bit.

We did Le Cellier on Christmas Eve (lunch) CP package and then saw Illuminations after.

Christmas day we just chilled in our room - ordered room service breakfast, resort hopped and that night we had a Wishes cruise and invited a girl our youngest DD danced with in college last year. She is in the college program (friends with our two favorite mice ). She was alone Christmas so I was hoping bringing her along would cheer her up.

I honestly prefer our usual June trips. I really liked seeing the decor - be it just felt strange to us being there when it was cold instead of hot. Being from Texas we handle the heat a lot better.

I would like to do it again some day though - when we are in a better frame of mind and not worried about our dog. We may enjoy it a lot more if we can really be there - if that makes sense.

I love Vero! We are staying there 3 nights after the cruise.

I really wish we would have known we were going to be at WDW the same time - I would have loved to have met you then. I like cool weather at Christmas too - at least at night - but the night of the 21st was too much for us cold weather wimps. To me 93 degrees, sunny blue skies and a slight breeze is my idea of perfect weather.

After the cruise, we are going back up to Disney for 8 nights then to Vero for 4 more nights back up to Disney for 2 nights. I'm really excited because we actually got a beach cottage this time. We are revving up for a week at WDW at my house. Packing will be complete by the end of today! My husband is running the Goofy Challenge next weekend! He is so excited. He has done it once before, but it was five years ago.

We are staying at OKW and have a complicated plan to have the kids with us for part of the trip, then they are coming back home with my sister to our house while my husband and I enjoy a couple more days kid free! It should be a fun trip!

Is anyone else headed down/running in the marathon weekend events?

Take lots of photos of the beach cottage. We usually just do an ocean view inn room. It works for the four of us.
