IMHO..... it depends on what park.
We never do EMH in the AM at AK. Just not worth the trouble of running with all those people ...... EVERYONE heads to the safari!
Same with MGM.... never do the AM EMH....not enough open for the mad rush of people....
And in July.... there will be a mad rush.
As for MK.... do you have young kids? And plan to hit Fantasyland? Then I would say go for the EMH in the AM. Then get out by like 11am or noon.
As for Epcot.... no opinion either way. Depends on your plans for the rest of the day.... but it is nice to try and hit TT and Soarin, then still grab fast passes for a second go at it.

Well, THAT has certainly changed in the last few months.
You might have heard of a little attraction called "Expedition Everest".
It has had a profound effect on just where people head at the start of the day at DAK (and the rest of the day, for that matter.)
I never miss a morning EMH. Regardless of the number of guests who are there first-thing, the rides "swallow them up" very quickly... and I can do more in the first hour (up to 3 hours) than at any other time of day in any park.
Attending morning EMH (And I mean to BE THERE well before the gates open, not just entering sometime DURING the first hour) is simply the MOST RELIABLE tip ever given... as a way of doing the rides (that are open for EMH) in the easiest way possible (less heat in the summer, too.)
And regardless of how many times this tip is given by the countless WDW veterans, MOST guests simply will not (will NOT!) get up on vacation early enough to actually take advantage of it.
That's why it is such a RELIABLE TIP as a way to ride popular attractions easier.
I second what Robo said!!! I feel it is essential in the summer! If you've never been to Florida in July there is nothing like it.
Last July we had family with us and because many mornings they were slow getting moving our touring style changed. Let me say I didn't like it one bit! Because we weren't at the parks before opening we encountered lines. I was able to ajust our touring so that we avoided many of the lines but some you just can't work around unless you are willing to get there early. We didn't get to see and do as much during this vacation because of this and we are looking forward to going back to our morning routine this year. Mornings are so worth it!
I would take advantage of every AM EMH I could if not for any other reason than to be getting things done in the earlier cooler temps. I would then take a break during the hottest part of the afternoon.
Absolutely do the morning EMH. Last July, we did the morning EMH 4 out of 7 days, and were able to do nearly everything we wanted to do at each park by lunch. We were able to get back to our hotel each day and relax while it was SOOOO hot, and then got back out in the evening.
We've always gone to Disney in June/July and ALWAYS take advantage of the EMH. Like a previous poster said, we get more done in that first hour than anytime the rest of the day. It's one of those nice little perks for staying on property...you might as well take advantage of it.
I would definitely take advantage of the morning EMH as well. BUT, can you park hop? Those parks do get much more crowded than usual, especially with the new ticket options. We usually hop out when things get crazy. If you don't have park hopping, I would still take advantage of morning EMH, but not necessarily all of them.

Taking this one step further...
I would make sure I DID have hoppers.
This can give you the flexibility to get out of some unfortunate decisions (park got too full, too fast) and, in general, allow many more evening choices, regardless of your morning choices.
$40 per ticket (not per day), divided over the course of your stay, can really help save some possible scheduling headaches.
Okay I have always been anit-morning EMH but now you've talked me into it, the 3 teenagers I will be with might hate me, but I am going for it. One question though, I know the evening EMH requires an arm band but what does morning EMH require. I'm thinking because the only transportation to the parks are from disney hotels but once you get to the turnstile will you need to show your resort ID or is there something else you have to get from your hotel?
Every person over the age of 2 years old will be issued a "room-key-card" when you check in (make SURE they do this for you).
Then have an adult carry these at all times so younger kids won't lose them.
For AM EMH all you'll need is to show a WDW resort key-card (and a valid admission ticket) at the entrance.
(Most times, only ONE card will do, per party... but there are unique times when the CM's will want to see a card for EACH PERSON... so don't leave the room without all the cards.)
For PM EMH, EVERYONE will FOR SURE need their own resort key-card, as MOST nights (90%+) the CM's will SCAN each card and issue only one wrist-band per card.
