We are taking my family (2A3K ages 11,8,7) towards the end of July/early August. I know it's going to be hot as hell, rainy, humid and all the terrible things. I would like to know which rides have indoor lines and also what shows/attractions/play areas are sit down in A/C or shaded areas for when the kids and/or hubby get cranky and need to rest. We are planning on heading back to the hotels midday but I'd like to be knowledgeable just incase. Any help or advice is GREATLY APPRECIATED as I want to make this trip the least painful as possible.

I would like to know which rides have indoor lines and also what shows/attractions/play areas are sit down in A/C or shaded areas

MK: Carousel of Progress, Country Bear Jamboree, Hall of Presidents, small playground by Dumbo, Tom Sawyers Island (not air-conditioned but I think has AC caves)
EP: France, Mexico, American Adventure, The Land, Living Seas, Ellen's Energy Adventure
HS: Voyage of the Little Mermaid
AK:Finding Nemo

And a good source for indoor queues: http://www.wdwinfo.com/walt-disney-world/where-to-cool-off-at-walt-disney-world/

Others can add more!

What's so terrible about summer in WDW? We go all the time in summer, and love it. Yes, it's hot, and yes it's humid. But there are fairly easy ways to cope with it, and you don't even have to go back to the hotel for mid-day breaks if you don't want to. It also may not rain every day. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. Even when it does, it's typically not an all day event. It's a 30 minute t-storm then the sun comes back out.

As for air conditioned queues and shows, it may be easier to list the ones that aren't, because so many of them are either fully a/c, fully shaded, or some combination where it's not hot, even in July. Tomorrowland Speedway isn't, and that one is h-o-t in summer mid-day. Astro Orbiter isn't, and that's hot because it's on a rooftop. Beauty and the Beast show isn't, its' got fans but it's still a hot theatre during the daytime. Splash and BTMRR can be hot in spots, but then have plenty of shaded and cooled spots (Splash has some really cooled spots close to where you get on the ride). There are others, but that's the few that stick out to me off the top of my head.

Going in mid-summer isn't as bad as you may think. So many rides, shows, stores are air conditioned that it's very easy to stay relatively cool. We also make a point to do the fully cooled a/c stuff if we're in the parks mid-day. The longer rides are better....Ellens' Energy, Philharmonic, CoP, Dinosaur, Great Movie Ride (the outside part of the queue is hot, but nice and cool inside), etc...

MK: In general I find MK to be the park that I feel the heat the least since it has many air-conditioned shops and attractions and seems like it has much shorter walks in the elements between them than in other parks.
Epcot: Almost everything in Future World - I find the World Showcase to be very hot, I think it is the number of bodies and the crowded walkways - take advantage of the country pavilions and touring in the evening. Mexico has a lot of indoor space and is dark which makes it feel cooler, and a short boat ride. The food court in America is very large and is a good bet for finding a table in air-conditioning
AK: many lines are outside at least partially - warning about Expedition Everest - a lot of the line is outside, hot and hidden (it snakes behind the building) if there are long waits
HS: add Great Movie Ride (line and ride), Star Wars Launch Bay and all of it's characters and the short film, One Man's Dream, Disney Junior Live on Stage, Frozen Sing-a-Long.

Also, take advantage of the fresh fruit at some of the stands in each park, it will help boost blood sugar and provide 'water' - so much more refreshing than some of the frozen treats. Personally, I find the sugary frozen drinks and ice cream can really upset my stomach if I'm feeling the effects of the heat.

AK: Harambe Fruit Market
MK: Liberty Square Market, Prince Edward's Village Market in Fantasyland
Epcot: there is a cart by the Land
HS: Anaheim Produce (on the way to Tower of Terror)

We go in the summer all of the time and I hate the heat. We keep going back in the summer because it's not insurmountable!! When you start to feel hot, pay attention - it's easier to avoid being overheated, than fix it after it's happened. Know everyone's limitations - some people feel the heat more than others.

It's the Summer and it is going to add levels of stress. Not only from you, but from all the others in the same situation. We learned after Day 1 on a September trip that getting out of the heat, sun, and humidity was required. It was the melting point for DD. Going back to the resort for pool was nice, but it was still out in the heat. It didn't help as much as we had wanted. Instead, we took that time to go through shops, sit in AC area and relax. You quickly find them when you get too hot. Some of the places we found to help for the 1-2 hours of needed break are below which are not rides...

MK: Tony's restaurant main area. AC, movies on the tv to watch. Walking through the Main St shops.

Epcot: Mission Space exit area. Interactive games, climbing playground area for kids. Character Spot where Mickey and all are. In the exit area, there is that big long hall with nothing in it. Nemo area exit. There is so much in there. TT, Soaring, and Journey all of have exit area attractions to relax. Each country has an area that is at worst just shaded with fans. Most have AC attractions to explore and relax.

DHS: Other than the shops, not too many places that I can remember now. The Honey I Shrunk the ?? playground was always shaded and cooler. Not sure what is around now.

AK: Discovery Island has the AC building which is nice to just roam and explore. Train ride is cool too. Dig Site is OK and shaded, but not cooled other than a few fans around. You can get wet with the water fountains to help cool off. Shops are spread out so you can pop in one to get out of the heat.
