July at DL? First Timer - Should I go?

My DH has a training seminar in LA from 7/27-8/2 and I might take advantage of going down with him. I am very familiar with WDW, and know that July is extremely hot and extremely busy. Is this the same for DL? Is there a site that shows historical weather for that time of year? IS this peak season? Does DL have fastpass? Thanks, for your help. Jo

I would go if I were you!

Yes it is hot and crowded, it is peak season. Keep in mind the LA heat is a dryer heat than Florida, not normally very humid.

Yes, DL has fastpass too. 2 rides that have fastpass you won't find at WDW (Indiana Jones and Roger Rabbit Car Toon Spin).

I would approach it as you would if you were going to WDW in July. Make a good plan, allow youself plenty of time to see what you want to see. DL is much smaller than the MK so there is less walking. If you have limited time, make sure you focus on the attractions that WDW doesn't have (Matterhorn, Indiana Jones, Roger Rabbit, Mr. Toad) and the attractions that are better at DL (my opinion only : Pirates, Small World, Haunted Mansion).

Make sure you visit the Disney Gallery above Pirates and the recreation of Walt Disney's office which is housed in the Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln building.

Jo, the two times I have visited DL were also in July. We really had a great time. First of all, as Peter Pan Fan stated, the heat is intense but not nearly as humid as Florida, and no rain at all, generally that time of year. i generally did not find the heat to be a big deal. It was much more pleasant, say, than the heat here in NYC. We always went on weekdays-- some days crowds were thin, others not, like at WDW, there is a lot of entertainment all the time in the summer so there is plenty to do. There is an Unofficial Guide to DL with touring plans, we used them. Get there early, get a lot of rides in, and then tour in a more relaxed way in the afternoon, avoiding e-rides. By evening crowds thin again (although I noticed an influx of local teens at this time.)

Definitely go.
