There is a possibility that our December trip will be bumped to July due to a Disney wedding!! My fear is that the heat and crowds will be too much. We have a 3.5 yo DD and DH is not crazy about going to WDW (he's never been before)

Just how hot will it be?

How crowded?

Would you suggest less days at the parks?

Alternative ideas other than parks?

Any thoughts would be great greatly aprreciated!

Thanks DIS'ers!

Hi,

It will be relentlessly hot and relentlessly humid, with a good chance of thunderstorms every afternoon.

Early July is VERY crowded, the rest of July is just plain crowded.

The good news: parks are open late, and it sure is easy to pack!

Sounds promising!!!

I am thinking more and more that I am just going to have to stick to those plans to go in December. We're from the north and just can't hack it.

We just went this past July and I tell you it was HOT. I started sweating as soon as I walked out the door and that was around 7 am.

I guess as long as you prepare for it then you will alright.

It was very crowded.
In my opinion I will not go in the summer months ever again. I will not say NEVER because if for some reason I got all expense paid trip then I would take it. :3dglasses

I am now planning a trip in January and I can't wait to see the difference in the crowd level.

We spent out honeymoon at wdw 9 year ago. June 29th-July 5th. Up until the 3rd of July, we walked onto rides with no waiting at all!!!!! It was wonderful! After that, it was busier, but its DISNEY!!!! Kids are having fun....there are parades to watch, benches to sit on in the shade:) It will FUN no matter when you go!!!!!! As for rain, of course there's the 10 minute shower in the afternoons most days...but , trust me,...it feels good AND it scares some people back to their hotels so when it stops, you'll have less of a crowd for a few hours. And all it takes is a couple of drops to scare some people away! Go! You'll have a great time, and you'll actually be able to enjoy your pool and stay out later. December would be way too cold to swim and the parks close around 6 or 7 each evening. In July, you would be able to stay out until 10 or 11, or later each evening. More for your money!

We go every year in July and love it. The crowds are big sometimes because of all the tour groups, but we've also been there when it's slow. The last few years it hasn't rained like it always does. I did miss the showers chasing away all the people. It's hot. Like a PP said, walk outside first thing in the morning and it's hot. If you make some time to go back and swim or rest you will be fine. We take at least a few days off from the parks to swim, rest, and hotel hop. So we might go all day and all night Monday and not go at all until Wednesday again. Don't be afraid! :thumbsup2

The tour groups can be brutual! When you see one, and trust me, you will, and they won't be hard to miss, go the other way. They drive my husband bonkers!

It will be really hot and really crowded. We live right here in Orlando and stay away - far away - from the parks in the summer. But, we had family visiting one year so tried to do parks with them. We found that if we got to a park right when it opened, with a list of "must do's", we did them then headed back home to swim or whatever, then we could go back in the evening for a parade and stay late to ride more rides. It's still crowded at night, but some people have cleared out a bit. It really boils down to expectations - don't expect much and be pleasantly surprised if things go more your way!
