July 9th 2005 - West Coast Cruise.

Do you know if they serve lobster at all? My DD really wants to try it and since I don't like it, we don't ever have it.

DD just got her formal gown in the mail today. It is gorgeous. We went shopping this weekend and found some nice things for a fairly good price, went to another shop and it was extremely expensive, then came home and looked on E-Bay. Through one of their shops she got a beautiful, new blue formal gown with sequins for $45 (including shipping and tax). She loves it and I didn't spend an arm and a leg. Now we just have to find a suit for DS and we'll be ready for our pictures on formal night.

Ta-ta-da-da!
...Gloat Alert...Gloat Alert...
A friend of ours just called to let me know that I now have plans for the 4th of May down in Anaheim, with 5000 (+ or - some radio contest winners) of my closest friends!

She might be able to scare up one more ticket for Sara, but we won't know until the end of the week - so any stray pixie dust can go to wishing that we end up with one more ticket :wizard:

I promise to report anything especially cool there once we get back.

See ya there! And hopefully Sara too! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Karen - I don't eat lobster either but I know they serve it. It sounds like you got a great deal on the dress.

I have been sitting on a few questions for some time and am presenting them at this time:

Someone had mentioned adding the green Mickey's to the mailfish. We have the HD Green Mickey's, but what is a mailfish?
Sara already explained quite well.

Who has the most recently updated cheat sheet of members for our group?
Chris has been the master of the cheat sheet but I can send you a copy if you want. Just PM me your email address. It's probably time for an update. Where has Chris been?

Someone mentioned a Disboard newsletter - is there such a thing?
I don't know if there is an official newsletter. I think some of the people on individual cruises do them. Like I think the repo cruises have newsletters among themselves.

When can we or can we request a dining rotation? Can you change your rotation? What is the best night to schedule Palo Dinner - Formal? Parrot Cay? 2nd night at same restaurant? Chef's Favorite Menu?
You can request a dining rotation but you aren't guaranteed to get it. Also, once you get onboard and find out what rotation you have, you can try and change it but again, it's not guaranteed. Last cruise I started to get all worked up about the dining rotation and then realized it wasn't worth getting stressed over. We ended up in Animator's for formal night and it was fine. I haven't been to Palo so I can't help you there. I think that will be easier to figure out once we know when the formal nights are.

Lobster is served on formal night only. As a sperson allergic to all seafood, I avoid like the plague.

Ya'll are killing me! First it's the wine thing. Then the chocolate (strawberries optional). Now it's lobster! :cloud9:  Holy smoke, are we on the cruise yet?! :Pinkbounc

Seafood is my absolute favorite, anything and everything (I feel for those who have allergies!). Since I'm not a beef-eater, I enjoy a fabulously fishy meal. The lobster dinner on the cruise is something I look forward too only because lobster is one meal I don't enjoy very often. Try it on the cruise, particularly if it's your first. Have to admit, a Disney cruise is where I first sampled escargo. Interesting to say the least.

Kim or anyone else who may know the answer--we were going to get our couples massage on a sea day. I read that they don't offer massages on sea days. They save the ressies for conceirge (or maybe REAS?) level people. Do you know if you have REAS if you can schedule anytime? And, do you do that before you sail? Also, how do you schedule Palo if you don't know what your dining rotation/formal night is (or do you know what it is?)? I was thinking of getting the REAS if that gives us more of a chance to get the massages when we want them. Any suggestions would be helpful. Also, do I make the ressies through DCL or do I have to go through my TA?

Well, I'm back from the neurologist. My left side might take months if at all to return, so I might be that 1972 Chevette on the cruise!!! Anyway, I'm also taking this cruise under slight illegal guidelines. I'm not suposed to fly 3 months after my stroke, which happened on April 11th. For those of you keeping score, that means I shouldn't fly ungil July 11th, but I'll be flying out on July 2nd as scheduled. My neurologist didn't seem too concerned with flying a week early, but it's still not supposed to happen. so, if the stroke police come looking for me, send them in another direction!!!!!!

I booked the REAS package with my last cruise, and did get massage reservations for a sea day with the package. I did book 4 months in advance and there are only so many in-addvance reservations they allow so everyone has the opportunity to get a massage on a sea day. I have Debbie's number here somewhere, and when I find it, I'll post it. Give her a call, she's the one you pre-book everything with directly.

Thanks Lori! Your secret is safe with me--I won't tell the stroke police! I bet the vacation will do wonders.

Karen...I was reading the same thread and got a little worried too! I have the REAS booked and everyone told me you could book months and months in advance, but NOT for the West Coast cruises!! :sad2: I've been talking to Debbie on a weekly basis lately, and she STILL won't let me book. She keeps telling me I have a long way to go...call back a month before. But I'm worried that I won't get the days/times I want if I wait too long. I think she's been so overwhelmed with the repo cruise plans that she hasn't had time to handle any 7-day cruise stuff yet. Hopefully soon! I've not been able to get any info from her on formal/semi-formal or theme night stuff either! :guilty: But I'll keep trying!

Wow, I've been away a while and more people have shown up! Welcome everyone! I don't get on the boards as much as I'd like, but once in a while, if only to get that page count up! :teeth:

This has been what they call "HELL" week for me -- I open in another play tomorrow night (Neil Simon's "London Suite") and we've been rehearsing and doing technical and dress the last two nights. We run for 3 weeks.

DH (Stu) is going to start traveling again straight through until we leave for CA in July. :sad1:

Well, glad to catch up with ya'll. Lori, I'm glad you're doing better. Prayers are still coming your way.

Later,
Val

Karen...I've been going over the navigators with Alexis. She DEFINITELY wants to go the the Lab with the 8-9 year olds. Since she just turns 8 in May, we were originally contemplating having her go the club with the 5-7s so she would be with her brother at night. But we think he'll be fine on his own, and she's much more interested in the activities in the lab and hanging out with 8-9 year olds instead of 5 year olds.

So...Alexis is very excited that Megan will be there too. :cheer2: It looks like they will be the only 2 from our DIS group in the 8-9s (at least on the list I have--is there an update?)...oh wait, I've penciled in Quinton (scouter-kid) as a new addition...he's 9, so he'll be in that group too.

Oh, and Alexis will be thrilled when I tell her she'll have someone other than her brother to hang out at the beach with. Hopefully Lori and her crew will be coming to the beach too...her DS4 will be a perfect fit for my DS4!!

Kim :flower:
My Cameron is nine so he will be there too!
