July 9th 2005 - West Coast Cruise.

Chris, you've guessed what job least appeals to me -- selling or repairing shoes! :teeth:

Ya'll are on the right track regarding my day job (the one that pays the bills).... the department I work for is small in that we do not have many people assigned here, but we are very big with respect to other areas. We are in contact with a variety of things -- people, occupations, requests.

My 'other' job relates to animals. :cat:

OK, I'm gonna guess human resources for the county of Riverside?

We also handle large-scale agendas on a weekly basis.

Every morning, huh? Is it a sign outside of that coffee/exoresso place? Or, the gym, perhaps?
The gym? Every day? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Did anyone else notice that we are on page 30? That's one third the way to our 90 pages.

Amy's job, hmmmm.... What comes to mind for me is exec. for the UCR Board of regents.

Still stumped over the sun/flower.

Sara

Maybe it's near the adult's only pool? We have a lot of great guesses!

Hey, I once knew someone who's brother's best friend's boss was dating a lady whose chiropractor treated someone that went to the gym every morning.... :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Anything's possible, I suppose....

Large-scale agendas on a weekly basis???? Your department seems to do a variety of seemingly un-related things. Do you work in some sort of resource pool that other departments can call on when they need help with something?? I think I might be getting colder here... :cold: :cold: :cold:

You're staying on the warm side, believe me! :sunny: Yes, a lot of departments contact us. Very much so. As well as the public. It does appear to be seeming unrelated topics, and that is very typical. It's not a resource pool, and does not relate to HR work in the way that you may think. Dang, I'm sounding like I work for the government! :p

Our work in this department revolves around this weekly agenda. My specific duties are dictated by this as well.

Sorry to say, it's not UCR. Great guess though!!!

Congratulations to our most recent 'Name the Photo' contest winner! :cheer2:

Could you be a court reporter......

Hmmmm,
Maybe I shouldn't assume that Amy isn't a lawyer or involved with the law....

....are you a judge?? Or, at least, involved with the courts??

Great guesses! Very fascinating! I'm not a judge nor a court reporter. Our department does have a 'governing board' who are elected officials, but we're not part of a court structure. I'm one of the worker bees, not management yet.

Any last minute guesses? :scratchin Final answer will be offered by 11:30 (PST) this morning!

I think you are somehow affiliated with the Board of Supervisors.

We have a winner! Way to go Sheila!! :teeth:

OK, Sheila gets the 100 points and a shot at the bonus round. But, what does "somehow affiliated with" translate into in terms of what you actually do!!

Here's the official duty list..... I work for the office that makes sure the BOS meetings happen each week --from set up to tear down and everything in between. My particular duties include publishing items from the agenda in accordance with state code. Items scheduled for public hearing (resolutions, fee increases, cases from our planning dept., notices of intent for sale/purchase of land, etc.). Publish adopted ordinances, notices of inviting bids. Also open/announce most bid results (from the publication of notices inviting bids).

My 'other' job is one of the Associate Directors for a local animal shelter.

That's it in a nutshell! - Amy

Folks-

I have not been on for a while. See you are guessing what everyones jobs are. I have a hard time figuring out what my own job is lately! I just know that it takes me about 12 hours a day to get it done! :smooth:

I'm sitting here in my office on a conference call listening to some know-it-all economist babble on about interest rates and equity prices, and decided to do the only sensible thing under the circumstances...do some important cruise planning!!! :boat:

As you know, we'll be hosting an on-board party on one of the at-sea days, and an important part of planning any party is getting the music lined up... :rockband: .

So...I thought I'd kill two birds with one stone and 1) propose the next "for your response" question, since there are no "games" current going on the thread, and 2) get some idea of the kind of music y'all like so that I can burn a good mix of CDs for the party. So, to get a sense of your tastes, here are a couple of "lists" for you to respond to:

1) Your top 10 songs of all time
2) Your top n artists of all time, where n is a number of your choosing

As an optional bonus list, for extra credit, list as many cruise/sailing-themed songs you can think of (e.g. Come Sail Away by Styx).

OK, it sounds like this guy is almost done, and I'm up next...gotta go.

Chris -

It sounds like you're having a banner day at work today!!! I'll have to give the music thing some thought.... Lately, my favorite song has been anything coming out from the TV that keeps the kids somewhat quiet while I cook dinner!!! Sometimes that is the parent-most hated song....

I love you You love me
we're a happy family
with a great big hug and a kiss from me to you.
won't you say you love me too

Now, let's all sing along...... :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1
