July 9th 2005 - West Coast Cruise.

Well, for those of you ultra-mega-serious Disney fans, I hope my "little" Shrek faux paus didnt' cause significant stress in your lives. The funny thing is, I know instinctively that Shrek is not a Disney movie, but I searched for and found a web site that listed, supposedly, all of their movies so that I could pick my favories, and Shrek was on the list!!

Oh, well. Sorry if I offended any of you.

Aside from stimulating some posts, this particular venture was, at least for me, an excercise in learning what words are and are not filtered by the DIS. When I first read Lori's response, I thought that the only reason why it got through unedited was that she referred to an "orgasam" (sp?). However, when Kim used the same word, though correctly spelled, it made it through also. I am now quite curious as to which words are filtered and which ones are not. It's hard to think of a legitimate, kid-friendly, Disney scenario within which the work "orgasm" would be normally be used.

Sara, as a moderator, you may be the only one that can help us with this question of critical life-importance. Perhaps you may need to PM me with this, but what words are "verboten" in a public DIS post??

Chris

Chris - I mis-spelled it on purpose because like you, I thought it would be eaten up by the filter..... Alas, Kim has proven me wrong!!!

The filter is kind of funny, and I haven't figured out which words it will filter & what it won't. For instance, it lets orgasm through, but filters the last part of Dick Van ****'s name out... Go figure. My best guess is that there's a manual list that the webmasters maintain that becomes the filter.

Sara

Oh, I almost forgot. Since the Shrek one got disqualified, my third Disney choice would be Finding Nemo.

And, I should also add that the scene where Dori tries to speak "whale" and the one where the sharks are having their "AA" meeting deserve honorable mention on my "funniest scenes" list.

I hope everyone's day has started better than mine: it took 2 hours to get to work, when it normally takes 20-25 minutes.

Chris - I wish I could feel sympathy for you, but a 2 hour commute in this neck of the woods isn't all that bad. Heck, it takes Darern 1 1/2 hours door to door, and if there is an issue, forget about it!!!! One of the reasons both of us wishes he could get out of NYC, but in his line of work, that's where he has to go..... Darren also e-mailed the account you gave me for Cassie, so check it out when you get a chance today!

Chris - Sorry you got stuck in that nasty traffic this morning! I heard about it on my way in this morning and then saw pictures of the accident online. It looked really bad. :(

So, on a lighter note, let's continue the "Where on the Magic" game.

That's a hard one Sheila! Where is that? :confused3

Hey Chris, sorry to hear about that long commute this morning. Ouch! Glad to know you're okay! Enjoy a glass of wine this evening to calm your soul after a long day on the SoCal freeways. :p

Our DD19, Carly, and her friend, Alexis, will be on our Magic Riviera Cruise with us. They want to know what types of "workout" sessions would be offered in the gym, possibly with a personal trainer?

Anyone know anything about this or where I can get this info? We've been on 3 Magic cruises so far, but let me tell you, the gym is the LAST place you'd see me on a vacation!!! :crazy2:

Thanks,
Val

Nope. Today seems to have been pretty miserable all the way around. Mike had the toddler from Hell, I had lunch spill all over me just before a meeting & had my first fight with my boss (it's still a new job). And can't be worse, because it *is* raining.... :charac2:

Oh well, I suppose tomorrow will be better... (I hope).

Sara,
Sorry to hear you had such a trying day. Mine started badly, but it did improve once I had my third cup of coffee. Mike, it sounds like yours basically sucked too (testing to see if that word gets through the filters!!). Sara, perhaps we can kill a coupla birds with one stone. If you write a post that spells out exactly what you were thinking and feeling when all this was happening, you may find that therapeutic. At the same time, that post will probably give us a pretty good start on the list of words that get filtered on the DIS.

Just a thought.

Chris

Sheila,
The lack of good guesses, or guesses of any level of quality, leads me to believe that either a) everyone had a bad day today and has no time at all for the DIS boards, or b) we have no bloody clue what this picture is or where it is on the ship. For the record, I fall into the latter category. You may need to give us a hint.

Amy,
Thanks for the advice. I'm executing it as I write this. You always seem to have comforting words to say. Perhaps we need to now guess what you do for a living? I'm pretty sure you're not a lawyer!! :wave2:

OK, folks, that wasn't a rhetorical comment: who can guess what Amy does??

Of corse it will.

Why you ask.

I'll tell you

We have only 2 more days before we get to Disneyland :cloud9:

stay in the Disneyland hotel. :smooth:

Then only 2 days after that we get to have our pre-cruise meet. I for one can hardly wait. :cool1:

And remember if you cant make the meet E-mail me a JPEG and I will include it in the who looks like what I will be posting on the web(p.m. for Email address)

Hey Chris, ya'll are guessing my job? I'm still trying to figure out what I do!

Val, my son is interested in the gym too. He's anxious to keep up with his weight training.

Good Morning everyone! I hope everyone has a better day today! Mine started off with the kids fighting over something I don't think even exists, but that usually happens in the world of kids! Luckily, they're both at school so I get some quiet time. I'll pick Brandon up in 2 hours, so until then I'm on my own!! YIPPEE!!!!

Was that a cricket chirping? Bumping things up to get some noise from ya'll!

:jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1:

I think Sheila needs to clue us all in on the sun thingy - since I, for one, am clue free.

I'm going to guess that this "flower thingy" (that's the technical term) is in the Oceaneer's Club.

We're gonna try...
Now, the thing is, I had sprinkled a few work-related facts about me over the course of the thread, so people at least knew a little bit about what kinds of things I did in my job. As best as I can recall, you haven't said anything relating to the work you do. All I know is that you don't like wearing shoes!

So, I think you're gonna have to give us a clue or two.

So I stumped all of you experts, huh? Ok, here's a clue for you - it's part of a sign on deck 9 and I go there just about every morning.

As for Amy's job - according to her profile, she's a government employee. She had the 11th off as a county holiday so I'm guessing she is a county employee. But that still leaves a lot of possibilities.

Every morning, huh? Is it a sign outside of that coffee/exoresso place? Or, the gym, perhaps?

Well, reading Amy's bio comment, perhaps she works at a county animal shelter and/or pet adoption clinic?? :confused3
