Run that pirate name by me again. What do we call you, should you walk a plank
or start a mutiny?

Buzz = Captain John Rackham. He was a.k.a. "Calico Jack" because of the calico pants he always wore. Went swingin' from a rope, along with his "co-pirates," Anne Bonney and Mary Read, in Jamaica in 1720. Fun guy. I think he drank rum, and that's probably all we have in common. No rope swingin' for me, thanks...but a trip down that Mickey slide would be fine!

Jay = Iron Sam Bonney (II)

Lola and Megan haven't taken the true test of proper pirate pronouncement yet.

Well, the medical community keeps making money off the Lanes.... Julianna fell off her bike Sunday night and she said she hurt her wrist, but it never swelled or looked horrible. I kept asking her to move it, did it hurt, etc and kept getting the same answer, it was fine. She wouldn't use it very much, and it did just kind of "hang" there, but after she said it was fine, and usually would run around just fine, I thought she was being a drama queen. So, last night, we tried to get her back on her bike, and she wouldn't grip the handlebars with her left hand. Thinking she was scared, I then asked about her wrist, and she said it was fine. Darren then asked her to squeeze his hands, and she couldn't squeeze with the left. Again, thinking drama queen (you really have to know her) I asked her to do a cartwheel if everything was really o.k. Of course she couldn't, and off to the ER we go. I expect them to say nothing was wrong, even the DR seemed like it was fine, but took the X-Ray anyway. Of course it was broken...... So, today I'm going to call the Pediatric Ortho and try to get her in to get it casted. The DR at the ER said it wasn't a really bad break and she shouldn't have to wear a cast for more than 2 weeks. I sure hope so, since we leave for DL in 3 weeks!! If she has to wear it for more than 3 weeks, it won't come off until after we get home, meaning all of our excursions will be cancelled, especially the Children's Dolphins. So, if anyone has any experience with dealing with a child who is wearing a cast, I'd appreciate any advice. I of course feel like a horrible parent, since she was walking around with a broken wrist (I even sent her to Dance on Monday, since it was the last class before the recital, no recital now) since Sunday, and I thought she was being the Drama Queen, since she kept saying it didn't hurt.

Oh no, Lori, it just keeps coming at you doesn't it!

Krystal has broken her wrist. Twice. I think both times she had the cast 6 weeks but that doesn't mean Julianna will. And yes, the second time she walked around for 2 or 3 days before I decided she needed to go to the Dr about it. Sometimes you just can't tell, especially if they tell you it's fine.

Sending lots and lots of pixie dust your way!!! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Lori,

You are not a bad parent as kids we all thought we were hurt less than we were

I am sure every thing will work out don’t cancel your excursions yet wait till the last second

Lori, don't sweat it...most of us have had this kind of thing happen where you just can't tell for sure what sort of injury is involved. It's just part of the vagaries of parenting. I hope Julianna heals quickly.

On a lighter note, has anyone noticed that we have exactly ONE MONTH until we cruise???!!!???  :cheer2: :cheer2:

Sara, you are correct. According to the countdown clock sitting on my desk, using July 9 at 8am as our official deaprture time from Fountain Valley, Ca to the World Cruise Center in San Pedro we have exactly 29 days, 12 hours, 9 minuutes 52.4 seconds, 46.3 seconds, 38.7 seconds...

Ok. Got it. According to the countdown clock sitting on my desk, it is 29days, 11 hours, 41 minutes, 28.5 seconds until July 9. Everyone can go back to work now.

Any more thoughts as to what everyone is wearing for pirate night? I'm still thinking our DIS group pirate shirts with black pants/capris, cheapie pirate hat and patch, and our new buttons! They give us a bandana, I think. What do you all have planned?

Kim :flower:

As for Stu and I, we are not doing the pirate thing. We're dressing "tropical", as that is the alternative for pirate wear that evening.

We are traveling with two late-teen's girls, and they would be "mortified" if we dressed in pirate wear... Just wait until all of your kids get older... :confused3

pirate: Okay Dylan and I now have pirate names. It looks like we have a few relatives on Board. I know how I answered the questions that generated my name so I am really wondering about the rest of you all!!!!

Mine is Captain Ethel Rackham and Dylan's is Bloody Davy Kidd. pirate:

Gosh Lori when it rains it pours!! Don't feel guilty though -- I too have sent Dylan off to school complaining of a stomach ache (this is a frequent complaint when he wants out of something) only to be called from school that he has thrown up!!! Talk about guilt!!

Sheryl

Well, finally some good news. The cast is coming off July 1st, the day before we leave for DL. She might need a removable splint for a couple of more weeks, but remember, it's removable!!! YIPPEE!!!!

Sister Lori, I can't believe your year so far. I hope my niece is feeling better. I am glad she gets it off before the cruise. I remember Ryan having a cast on his ankle when we went to San Francisco. Megan was in a stroller and Ryan was in a wheelchair. Going to Ghiradelli was oh so much fun--pushing the two kids up that hill! At least she can swim, etc. now.

Now, maybe you should all just stay inside and not do anything until the cruise. We want you all to make it to the cruise in one piece!

Karen

Ryan is Iron Sam Bonney. I'll get Megan and Todd to their soon.

Went on a field trip to Anacapa Island today. Was so incredibly seasick. The good news is a friend took pity on me and gave me one of her patches. It didn't start working until the trip back to Oxnard, but it was wonderful. If you get seasick at all, get this patch. Another friend was also sick and got a patch and on the way home we felt great. I am going to call the doctor tomorrow and get a prescription. I was nauseous the whole time on our DCL cruise last time (not overly, just an annoyance) and I would love to feel like I did today (and we were in a small boat and the waves were very large). Poor little girl I was in charge of got very sick...didn't make it to the side of the boat. Other kids were green. Nice fieldtrip, huh? Also, I get incredibly tired from other seasickness pills, not so with the patch.

Ahoy mateys! Captain Bonney here, calling out my wee lad's pirate name.... Mad James Vane Arrr, Matt's the mad one! And his name description from the website isn't much better:

"Every pirate is a little bit crazy. You, though, are more than just a little bit. You tend to blend into the background occaisionally, but that's okay, because it's much easier to sneak up on people and disembowel them that way. Arr!"

On another topic here (and a little weird!).... my infamous chauffeur mentioned something about thongs for our Mickey Pool Slide Escapade. Sorry Mike! I think I need to hire a new driver for 7/9.

Hey Lori, pixie dust! :wizard: Feel it?! Take care girlfriend!

OK, let me be clear about this pirate Mickey Slide operation. If I have to wear a thong, none of you other skalliwags will not want to be on the "team!" Even if it's pitch black outside.
