July 5, 2011 - Mickey's WONDERful Alaskan Adventure

We brought the suitcases over from the barn yesterday. Does that count as packing?

Tell Walt and I went to look into the possibility of getting a new lens yesterday. After I found that the next telephoto beyond what I already have is $900+ I told him we'd have to be happy with our memories and the pictures my little telephoto could get.

We did get a new HD camcorder. SO excited that we leave next Saturday!!

$900! You're right, memories will have to do!
Mary, hope you have power by the end of the day! Sounds like this happens a lot to you guys, since you have generators. We haven't had to invest in a generator, but then we don't lose power that often, or for that long - at least we haven't so far!

And you're right, MiceRNIce, Disney has a way of making any kind of weather fun, but we will be prepared!

We don't lose power often but with above ground wires it can happen. We've only had our generator since Thursday morning when Mark drove about 20 miles to get one :lmao: before that he was using our UPS back-up system to run the fridge every few hours. When we heard the power would be out until Friday (first estimate) he went and bought it.

It is 12:02 and we have power!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Our Vancouver bag is packed, now just one more to go after I do some laundry.

I packed three long dresses for evening, three shorter skirt options and a nice pants outfit....is that in keeping with what everyone else is throwing in their suitcases for dinnertime?

Sounds very nice, but you're going a little fancier than I am. I've got a little black dress (short) with two different "jackets" for it that I'm using for Formal & Palo dinner. I'm also bringing a couple of pair of nice black slacks and a number of dressy tops to go with them. We also have pirate t-shirts we may or may not wear on pirate night. That's still TBD.

With 3 nights in Vancouver before the cruise and needing to pack hiking boots, sweatshirts, and jackets I'm trying to keep things as multi-use as possible. :)

You are also a bit fancier than I will be. Not that I have a thing packed but I'm bringing one formal dress, one other dress, and capris and blouses for the rest of the evenings.

Just purchased a new pair of dockers for one of my sons. The men in my family will be sporting dockers and polo shirts for dinner all but formal night. Got to get a little use out of their suits. (Much to their dismay)

I think we'll be packing plenty with sweatshirts, jeans and windbreakers. Not our normal cruise wear :goodvibes

Back to the FE swap I'm making....tick tock....

I guess I am going fancier, but, because we're not flying to the boat, I had the luxury of packing a little more than usual...got my son his first tailored suit. He does not want to dress up, but he looks very handsome in it, and for the cost, he will wear it whether he likes it or not!

I used to pack like that, but have started to do less. I have a nice black dress that I will use with different jackets for formal night and semi formal night. I have a couple of dress slacks I will bring for dinner and switch up with jackets.

All of our other cruises have been on the Magic, and via Facebook today DD22 learned that a CM, Ponz, is coming over to the Wonder and will be on it for our July 5 cruise! I believe Tisa is on our cruise as well!

CM is Cast Member, the general name for the staff who work on the cruise. Ponz and Tisa are on the Cruise Staff, the group that does a lot of the activities on the ship.

I should have known that!

Clear, beautiful sky this morning! I'm crossing my fingers that this great weather continues....

I'm also going a lot less fancy, but if we weren't flying, I would go fancier, just for the fun of dressing up. I have way too many dressy clothes selected, I've got to whittle it down quite a bit.

This time next week, we'll be in Vancouver! Can't believe how close it is - finally!!

We're in our final week!

Door signs are done, luggage tag labels are done, now I just need to do our contact list and print our my itinerary spreadsheet.

Just 5 days of work and then we are off to Vancouver!

I have four days of work left! Unfortunately I can not say the door signs are done or packing started.... Who needs sleep right? I can sleep on the plane to Vancouver :goodvibes

You've got plenty of time. :thumbsup2 I know a lot of people who don't pack until the day they leave. I'm just a worry wart and I like to take my time and make sure I don't miss anything so I always like to be packed the weekend before. I'm still finding a few little things I need to throw in so I'll be doing a little repacking later in the week.
