Hi,
I have a conference July 3rd-9th. Amazing rates. GF. 179 and BC 169. The conference is split 1/2 each place. The question we are pondering is, do we get park tickets. We have never been to WDW in the summer. I have read how parks close due to capacity on July 4th. We would enjoy the parks, but also could do other places. Can anyone give advice about crowd levels and recommendations?
Thanks!

Yes plan on a crowd, I would stay at your resort at night to watch the fireworks if your stay that night is in view of the MK. We were there over the 4th last year but we did a waterpark on the 4th and had dinner @ the Ca. Grill to watch the fireworks it was great.

How was the waterpark on the 4th? We were thinking to do the same this year, get there for rope drop, stay till the kids want to leave and then go for dinner somewhere. Was it really crowded because of the 4th? TIA

July 4 is a madhouse ------ except maybe not if it rains! ;). If you plan a park visit, especially the MK, plan to stay because you may be unable to return later if it gets too crowded. IMHO, take this as a "warning" and plan to be elsewhere. Unless you love crowds, it is a really wild scene. I loved it when I was younger, but not so much now and not so much with kids. It makes keeping track of them that much more difficult. Just my ten cents.....

But definitely scope out a place to view the fireworks; they are awesome!

We are not interested in the other parks for July 4th, just wondering about the waterparks? Will they be just as crazy as the other parks? We would arrive for rope drop and leave when the kids are tired, not returning later. TIA

We went for july 4th last year. It was crazy and we drove around Florida that day. Later that night we wanted to see the fireworks, but Magic kingdom had been closed due to capacity since about 3pm. We decided on going to Epcot. The crowds weren't that bad until we had to find a seat for dinner. That was a challenge. Other than that though it wasn't that bad. Bathroom line ups were crazy, but the park itself was ok. Defenitly wouldn't have wanted to tackle MK. Not sure about the water parks, but I think they would be your best bet. Good Luck! :)
