July 4th week

Never been this week. Been spring break and Thanksgiving week. Am I going to regret going July 4 week? Does the parks close for capacity?

It's typically very busy, but it hasn't closed for capacity in a few years. I believe 2015 and 2016 had lower than average 4th of July crowds.

I have been checking the calendar for the 4th of July and they have yet to update the time of the fireworks at Magic Kingdom. Other websites say 9:00 p.m. but I don't know whether to believe it or not until Disney actually posts the time

Only you can decide if you'll regret it or not, that's purely subjective. If you've been for Thanksgiving, then 4th of July shouldn't really bother you...unless Thanksgiving bothered you. We've been to a lot of 4th of July weeks, including '15, '16 and will again for '17 and '18. MK on the 4th after 4pm is crazy. Don't think they closed in '16, I think they may have in '15 (but not sure). Either way, that's the only truly crazy busy time/place. The rest of the parks and the rest of the week are certainly busier than average, but manageable for sure...at least to us.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. This is our first trip in the summer and didn't know what to expect. We are from Texas so we are use to the heat. I just didn't know if the July 4th week compared to New Year's Eve week where MK will close for capacity at times. I definitely don't want to be in that situation. We go often so we are starting to slow up our trips and not cram everything in. This trip, we might find ourselves at the pool more. honestly, this past Spring Break was really busy compared to other Spring Breaks but we still had a great time.

Only thing I would add - stay away from MK on the 4th.

We went to Epcot - ate at Rose & Crown - had fantastic seats. Fireworks were spectacular with the extra ones over America.

That's great you enjoyed Epcot on 4th July. We have a Rose and Crown reservation for the 4th this year and have fingers crossed it will work for Illuminations especially with the show maybe being at 10pm that night

Yep, I'm there most years over the 4th! Yes, CROWDED, on par with Christmas, NYE, Easter. But WDW prepares for that with more staff, increased ride capacity, more eating options, so I've always felt like despite having more Guests in the mix, things never feel much worse than other, moderately busy times of year. The exception to that is anything where large numbers of people congregate and don't move: parades, fireworks, etc. I also avoid the hottest, most crowded times of day in the parks: we either go early and get out by 12pm, or don't arrive until dinner time and stay late. I won't go near MK on the 4th itself, but we survived the 3rd at MK just fine last year. EP absorbs and handles the crowds really well on the 4th and has become our go-to spot that night.
