July 4th pins released 7/1/04??!!

Do I understand that Disney plans to release the July 4th pins this year on July 1st?? Getting an early start on the morning of July 4th last year, my husband and I actually had fun splitting up and getting each of the pins released that day. Since we are arriving on July 2nd, mid-day, if they are released on the 1st then we might as well forget even trying to get the limited edition ones.

Am I misunderstanding something?

The WDW Tinkerbell Memorial Day pins were only LE 1000, one in each park, and they did not all sell out in one day.

The July 4th pins are LE 2500 (I believe), and should last 2-3 days at least.

I may not be an expert on this . . . but my bet is the Stitch will sell out first.

WDW often releases a holiday pin a few days, or even a week in advance. Sometimes it works for our trip dates. . . sometimes against. If the Memorial Day pin had been released <b>on</b> Monday, May 31st, <i>on the actual holiday</i>, we would have missed it. Our trip ended on the afternoon of the 30th.

Unfortunately, last year we ran into several people who commented to us that they tried to purchase the July 4th pins late on July 4th but were not able to do so, as they were sold out. Can't recall specifically which ones, but even the night of July 4th, when we were at Epcot wearing our pins we had comments from people that managed to get one or two, but not the others. Also, I was too late to purchase one of the pins initially, but we were able to trade for it later in the morning.

I did the mad July 4th pin dash a couple of years ago and by the time I got to the Magic Kingdom at noon, all the pins there were history. I promised my family that we would not repeat that exercise this year.

You say there's going to be a Stitch pin???? Hmmmmmm.

Anyone know if this will be available at the Contemporary? And, if so, what time the pin store will open on the 4th?
