Yippee our cruise documents arrived today for the 4th July, made me take my mind of how rainy it was here in Scotland.

:smooth:

Woohoo!!!!

It must take a while for them to get overseas. We got ours 2 weeks ago.
Just think...4 weeks from right now we will be at beautiful Castaway Cay!!!!!! :)

hmmm....we're overseas and we got our docs 2 weeks ago....2 days after camcolt.....
maybe fedex took the jubilee bank holiday off....for two weeks???...
anyway, you have them now and that's what counts....
as for rain, does it ever NOT rain in scotland?....but then again you have all that BEAUTIFUL green countryside so i suppose it's worth it...
we're only how many days away now?....far too few for me to think about....so much to do....so little time...

The rain does stop occasionally :p , I'm perfectly happy here in beautiful Scotia.

Castaway Cay can't wait, infact can't wait for the whole experience. Has any of you prebooked anything yet? Is there anything you recommend?

Cheers,

Well that give me hope that our 7/6 documents will arrive soon! We just had our school sports cancelled today because of the rain.
Scott, what photo ID are you taking as well as your passport - I don't have a Drivers License?
Wendy

you need a photo ID besides a passport????
but a passport is a photo ID...
why do you need both???
as for what you should bring Scot, well....
i certainly hope you plan on bringing your kilt...and worn traditionally to be sure....:D

so are you doing the 3 day/4 day land sea thing?....or just the cruise?...

I am not sure that I need another photo ID but last year they kept non USA citizens passports. I really want to get off onto the islands!!
Wendy

yes i read that about them holding non US passports....i have to admit that would really disturb me...
as for photo IDs...does scotland have a photo ID for non-drivers?...
many states in the US have them...

Scott, the only thing i've reserved were snorkels /bikes and floats on castaway cay....(the package of all 3)...
in nassau we plan to go to the atlantis to use the slides and pools(i've reserved a room and supposedly you just take a taxi from the port...)

We don't have photo ID cards readily available and most peoples driving licenses are the old type with no photos on them. I do have my works ID badge which has my photo on it - I'll take that with me.
Wendy

Wendy, I'm taking my drivers license as photo i.d, also taking my works i.d as well.

We are doing the cruise then the remainder of the week at Vero Beach then the second week at the Boardwalk.

As for wearing the kilt, traditionaly worn or not it will be WAY too hot.

We were thinking about doing Atlantis but the trip booklet mentioned a lot of walking and I'm not sure if my 4 1/2 yr old son will cope. I expect we will just go for a little walk and hit the local beach.

This will be the first time we have been in the USA for the 4th so I expect that to be something special too.

Hopefully I'll meet some of you on board.

Scott
Have a wonderful time. The cruise is such fun. We were on the Magic last year and there was a family with kilts on but I agree it was far too hot.
The 4th is always spectacular. We have been in the states for the 4th for the last 5 years - last year we watched the concert in front of the Capitol building in DC in the pouring rain!!!
Wendy

We prebooked parasailing at Castaway Cay. So, if you see a couple, with a crazy woman screaming(as Im sure I will be), up there at 11:00am, thats DH & I. :D
In Nassau we plan to stay on the ship, probably by the adult pool. We will however take a quick trip off to find a pay phone to call home.
I cant believe how close its getting now!!!!
BTW, in the Disney Store I found a tshirt with a patriotic Mickey head on it that says July 4th, 2002. I will be wearing that on embarkation day...and Im trying to convince DH to get one too.

Scot,
you're right that the atlantis excursions offered by the ship have a lot of walking...
plus you can't use the water slides...
we're not doing that...
we're going on our own and taking a room at the comfort suites i think it's called....
you can use the swimming pools and slides at atlantis....but i'm not sure if it's worth it with a 4 year old...my kids are teenagers.....
my son can't wait to try out the slides he found on the internet.......

camcolt....parasailing's a blast and not scary at all....unless you're afraid of heights....in which case it is...:D

as for the two of you scots and the 4th of july....how is it that so many scots are such 'americanphiles' (proabably not the right word, but it will do)....it always cracks me up....i work for an international company with offices throughout the UK and every scot i encounter is totally in love with all things american...where did that come from????

as for meeting us....we're easy to spot...4 of us...3 extremely tall and very thin (blond or bald depending on the age), and one short fat brunnette.....unfortunagely that last one is moi...but no doubt i'll spend the cruise sick in our cabin so just look for the tall thin ones...

oh...i forgot to say...
before the cruise we'll be at the grand floridian, afterwards at the beach club, the villas at the grand cypress and then the yacht club... (3 weeks in all)....

I know my love affair with America started as a child. I thought that every American had a pool in their back garden! We all used to watch the WDW travel shows but never imagined that I would some day get there - my family were not rich. Now I get the pleasure of taking my mother there each year - it really is a dream come true.
Wendy

CamColt, maybe we'll see you by the adult pool!! The whirlpools over there are our hangout on Nassau day (at least when we're not in the spa). We did Atlantis once, but I wasn't impressed with what you get for the price.
We are going to wear our "www.castawayclub.com" shirts and have a couple other custom ones made too. I'm not sure what they'll look like, but they should be easily recognizable. On our 5/25 trip, I kept forgetting that my name was on my shirt, so it freaked me out every time someone referred to me as "Barb."

Wendy,
that really is a dream come true!!...
have a wonderful time on your cruise and vacation!!....
my mom joined us for part of our stay in WDW last year...
i suppose she may again....she's always invited to come with us on our vacations....she likes to be impulsive so she'll probably.just pop down and stay with us on the spur of the moment...the advantage of taking a large villa....i keep hoping my sister and her kids will come, but they HATE disney....can you BELIEVE it?????.....how could they be related to me???...

I'll be sure to watch out for all the different t-shirts at the launch.

Hopefully my DW will let me go to the adults pool if I'm on best behaviour. :D

As for loving America, well us Scot's played a part in it's creation and also the document that the constitution was based on was Scottish. How about adopting us as a new state! ;)

Staying on the ship might be a good idea as I expect that most people go ashore.

Need to start packing the cases soon, we arrive on the 3rd and we are staying at the Radisson. We've hired the biggest SUV we can because fuel is soooooo cheep.

Two weeks of Disney... yippeee

Crazy as it sounds, I actually started packing some stuff today. Since we are trying to limit our bags, I was playing around seeing how many "toiletries" could fit in our carry on. Of course, I dont want to overdo the carryon and have trouble at the airport either. Its so funny, not having to pack for the kids. I feel like Im bringing nothing with me! Im not used to this. :D
Ill definitely be looking for you all. Barb, Im sure Ill recognize you and Tony. You guys are like Disney Celebrities. ;) So if you see someone staring at you saying to her DH "Oh my God, its THEM!", that will be me, LOL! :D

My DW has already packed most of her and my son's stuff. I tend to leave everything to the last moment and rush LOL.

Barb & Tony your website was very useful.

I'll start buttering up my DW now for some time at the adults pool.
