We just got back from our first family vacation at Disney World, and we had a great time!
I will post a more in depth day by day review over the next few days, but here are some of the highs and lows of the trip.
Highs:
Polynesian Resort. We stayed concierge, and it was definitely worth it. We were upgraded to a lagoon view, and the 6 tuxedo strawberries we ordered ended up at 12! The staff was wonderful from the moment we arrived to the time we walked out to go home.
Table service meals. All of the table service meals were very good to excellent. Our favorites included Les Chefs de France, 'Ohana, and Le Cellier. That's not to say the others weren't good - these three were the standouts.
Cinderella's Royal Table. I know, this is a table service meal not included in the above, but I wanted to give it special mention. With DD6 and DD3, this was a great time (and the food is pretty good - especially the cheese stuffed french toast with blueberry topping).
Wonderland Tea Party. Another treat for the kids. The only down side is that the parents don't get the watch, but both my kids loved it.
Tour Guide Mike. We used his plans and advice for this trip, and had short wait times and minimal melt downs.
Lows:
Crowds when it's hot. Usually once a day, things got to a point where the crowds would be so unruly that I would have some sort of melt down. Nothing violent or malicious, but just one of those moments where I needed to find a quiet spot.
My Mother. I brought my mom along as a vacation to her with her grand kids. She proceeded to act worse than my kids through out most of the trip. Nothing pleased her, and she was far from prepared for the heat, the crowds, or the walking necessary (though she had been warned of each several times before the trip). She wasn't even close to ruining the trip by any stretch, but I would not bring her along again on future vacations.
Not enough time. We stayed 8 days, and I wish we could have 8 more.
That's just the brief overview of our journey.
More to come ...
