Finally! My memory isn't that brilliant and for some of it I'm relying on dates on photographs!
Never done a trip report before so please bare with me! Will try to condense a few days together after this first day otherwise I'll end up boring you all to death!

Trip Report July 30th – August 8th 2008

Cast:
Me – Diane (49 on day of the trip) – Disney mad particularly Tigger
DD1 – Rachel (24) – loves the Princesses especially Belle
DD2 – Rebecca (22) – Minnie Mouse but Goofy always seems to take a shine to her, refuses to believe that water is anywhere near BTM!
DS – Jay (19) – big Jack Skellington fan and Rock n’ Roller Coaster addict!

Alarm went off around 2am, although I have to admit I don’t think I slept once getting into bed anyhow! Everyone else was already up and busy doing last minute things – shower and a yoghurt later, plus the opening of my birthday cards and then I packed the important ones to display in our room, my cousin Andrew arrives around 3:50am to take us to the airport.
After loading 4 suitcases into his car and making a final check we are away to Manchester Airport some 15 minutes away so by 4:10am we are checking in at the airport – boarding passes in hand we head off to grab some magazines. This is where I panicked as I’d got a new credit card with no charges for using abroad, this way we didn’t need to take as much cash with us and once the bill came it could be divided up – but I actually hadn’t used it yet. So a couple of magazines later it was working, huge sigh of relief all round!!
Starbucks was beckoning so off we went for our traditional holiday drink and snack.

We were flying with Air France and as usual we were late in leaving, flight was for 6:40am I think we ended up taking off just after 7am so not really that bad. Flight to CDG was uneventful, I actually enjoyed the flight far more than I usually do but no idea why!
Once we’d landed at terminal 2E (or was it F?) suitcases were found easily and a VEA bus had just arrived, just another family of 4 on board and away we went. It seemed to me to go a much quicker way than when we had last been here two years ago – thirty minutes later we were unloading our suitcases outside the Newport Bay Club – what a lovely hotel!
Checked in where I panicked again because they said ‘you are here for 5 days’ – soon got that sorted, picked up the park tickets and breakfast allocations for the next 4 days, put our luggage into the left luggage as our room wouldn’t be ready until 3pm and off to the parks we went, by now it was 11:15am and we were itching to get into the park.
A lovely walk around Lake Disney and it already seemed as though we were ‘home’. You just can’t beat that feeling you get inside when you see the Disneyland Hotel for the first time, park tickets in the machine and there it is, Main Street USA! My second home! Lols

The castle and main street looked spectacular, we just strolled along taking everything in and then decided we were hungry, so first stop Casey’s Corner for hotdogs, chicken nuggets and fries washed down with either Sprite or Coke – lovely!
We headed for Adventureland as we wanted to see what the waiting time was like for POC – we always try to do this or Phantom Manor on our first day – wait time was good 10 minutes and off we went to join the queue. Certainly was as good as ever and so good to see the swinging pirate above our heads again, we’d forgotten so much in the two years since we’d last been and it’s always a great ride to start off on.
More browsing around in the shops to see what was new, we should get into the habit of buying as we see as so many times we’d seen things we really wanted and then couldn’t remember where they were (not everything was duplicated in every shop) plus my DD1 wanted the set of 4 princess mugs, they were on offer for the four but by the time we decided to buy them the offer was over! You live and learn!
DD1 and I wanted to go on Phantom Manor but the other two decided to sit it out (DD2 still can’t believe I actually took her on this age 7 and I don’t think she’s forgiven me!) There wasn’t a long wait for this either and before long we were back with the other two deciding it was time to head back to the hotel to see if our room was ready and to freshen up as we had a 6:30pm booking at Café Mickey to celebrate my birthday.
Walking back down Main Street there was a jazz band all decked out in yellow (six men and one lady) they were really good and a couple had gotten up dancing (they were good too), we saw them a few times over the course of our time in Disney which was great.

We got back to the hotel just before three and decided to have a browse around the shop and get some drinks, whilst the gang were paying I went to get our room key (Room 1323) and then we collected our luggage and set off to find our room.
We were on the ground floor just around the corner from the swimming pool which was great, settled into the room unpacked a few things, showered and changed clothes and watched a little of the Disney Channel on the tv. As we were on the ground floor we had a small patio outside which was great, I’d also taken an inflatable bed with us for my son and I to alternate (beats paying out for another room), laughs galore were had when I found out I’d brought the wrong one and this one had to be blown up by a hand pump which we hadn’t got, now at this point if I had a brain (or a memory) I would have realised that I could have asked at reception for a fold up bed but of course that was too easy! So a few (okay make that thousands) of puffs later the bed was ready to use! Very comfy it was as well!
Once refreshed we made our way to Café Mickey, this is one of our very favourite places to eat, fond memories of celebrating DD2’s 21st here two years ago as well.
Food was great, myself, DD1 and DD2 all had the fish and chips which in my opinion are to die for, DS had a pizza which he thought was one of the best he’d had for a long time, we also ordered cherry cokes which were delicious, service was excellent by a very pleasant waiter.

We had visits from Tigger, Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Eeyore (this was brilliant as we’ve never met him before,), Eeyore was so funny he had his photograph taken with DD1 and DS, then spotted DD2, and in his hurry to get her over for a photograph nearly knocked the little girl on the next table flying off her chair!

Gepetto, Friar Tuck and of course Goofy. We would have loved to have had desserts here but we were just too stuffed so eventually we left full and tired from our early start. We had a browse around the village and decided around 9pm that we really needed to sleep so we made our way back to the hotel, ahhh but wait what’s that cocktails!! Yes the pull of the cocktails pulled us in and we sat down to drink (sorry can’t remember what they were) our waiter was wonderful and made us do the correct pronunciation of the cocktails before he would order them for us – added to the evening.

Cocktails were duly finished and we made our way to our room.
Once in the room we made our plan for the following morning, breakfast was at 7:30 – we then planned to use the EMH in the park, have to admit these weren’t what I thought, I thought the whole park would be open to hotel guests and not just parts of Fantasyland and Discoveryland, (the rides that were opened didn’t change during our 10 days) we only used the EMH for the rides on two occasions the other times used it for shopping or taking pictures, so it was still nice to get in before everyone else, also wish they would also give the studios EMH.
So our plan included using the EMH in the park and then around half 9 heading to the Studios to do Crush (ha! You may say, fat chance!) yeah we lived and learned yet again!

Great start you your trip - the cocktails look yummy :thumbsup2
