Day Two Thursday 31st July:
Alarm on my mobile went off around 6ish, I rolled over but didnt actually get back to sleep. Down to breakfast for half past 7, usual choice I stuck to yoghurt and fresh fruit whilst the others had cereal, croissants and bread rolls. Duly filled and refreshed we made our way to the parks for half past 8.
First stop was Dumbo, followed by the tea cups (not really a good idea so close to having breakfast),
Snow White, Pinocchio and then Peter Pan, we noticed the Carousel was open but everyone decided to give this a miss for this morning. Headed over to Discoveryland to do Buzz twice, my score was lousy as usual and we never seem to get the picture taken at the right time!
Half past nine and we decided to head to the Studios, the set up for this has changed since the last time we were here, it had already opened by the time we arrived so of course the queue time for Crush at 9:40ish was already 75 minutes, in fact for the whole time we were here it never ventured below this. So we made a new plan that we needed to be at the studios for 9am, and walk quickly to Crush and hopefully wed be further up the line (this was aimed for Monday!) Scrooge McDuck and Donald Duck were in the forecourt of the studios, a few people had stopped to get pictures but the majority were well on their way to their chosen ride!
So my three decided it was the Tower Of Terror, I got in line with them as I knew I could get out the chicken exit and I really wanted to see inside the lobby. However, I heard someone talking about a fast pass for Crush so I decided to go and see if they were still using this system, they werent and the next thing my son was charging after me saying they were letting people in,
now how this next thing happened I have no idea, through the lobby, yep great theming here, oh right through the turnstile, umm Im still okay Im sure I can get out. Into the room with the video about the Twilight Zone and then, HEY, where are we going? My three told me (have no idea if they were telling the truth but they have been brought up to tell the truth so you would hope so) that there was now NO WAY out!! I dont want to be here I said but no one seemed to be listening. Into the lift, back row (thats good!), fasten yourself in, good luck said the porter and the doors closed. I vaguely knew what to expect but OH MY! It was brilliant, and I actually smiled for the camera at the top! My bum didnt touch the seat on the way down, can we do that again I said, shaking in the hotel shop! Only downside was DD2 having to use her inhaler (this didnt happen the following times we went on though) after getting off the ride but was fine within seconds. We had a good look around the shop and ear-marked some things to buy, I definitely knew I had to have a t-shirt and a pin, only problem I had was choosing which one to have (it took me to the following Thursday to make my mind up!)
Then my three decided it was time for Rock nRoller Coaster, they did try to persuade me to do this but I just dont go upside down at all! So I sat outside and took pictures of the changing studios, again the queue for this wasnt very long. By now we were feeling peckish and grabbed burgers and salad from the restaurant, once this was finished we were just in time to catch High School Musical, very enjoyable even though Ive only caught snippets of the film.
It was getting hotter by this time so we decided to head out of the studios and back to the hotel to freshen up before heading back into the park again to do POC and Indiana Jones. We knew we also wanted to catch both parades and the fireworks.
Thoroughly refreshed we headed back into the parks, first stop was POC again as this was virtually a walk on, I love this ride and notice something new every time I ride. Then onto Indiana Jones, in true fashion I didnt ride this and DD1 decided against it as well but the other two went on and came off a little disappointed with it, DS decided he preferred it backwards. Feeling peckish now we stopped for something to eat (have no idea where though but have a feeling it could have been Caseys Corner again), the time was now 6:50 and still hot we decided to sit ourselves down and wait for the Once Upon A Dream Parade, really looking forward to this as Id only seen pictures. We duly found a place just before the two towers as you enter Fantasyland, excellent view and many pictures and videos later we had really enjoyed the song played prior to the parade (everyone around us was singing it) and the wonderful smells from the floats.
By now the park was really busy and queue times for rides were long, we were in no hurry so decided to go into all the shops and just take our time soaking in the atmosphere and the details which when you are limited on time you can easily miss. Once in the Storybook Store I again (have done this for the past three visits) picked up From Sketch to Reality decided the price was right (either 40 or 45 euros) and that this time I was going to buy it, but waited until the day before we came home to do so. By the time wed done all we wanted to it was pouring down with rain, not sure on if the Enchanted fireworks would go ahead we decided to shelter under cover by City Hall and wait and see what happened with Fantillusion. At 10:30 the announcement was made that Fantillusion would start in 10 minutes (in fact 10:40 was the time it started every night) at 10:30 Donald Duck,
Baloo and a couple of other characters were sent out to brave the rain and then a much shorter parade followed, by the time this ended it was raining even harder and we made the decision not to stay for the fireworks and caught the bus back to the hotel.
Day 3 Friday August 1st:
Breakfast again at half past seven and into the park for half past eight. We decided to use this time for videos and taking pictures with a ride on Buzz thrown in for good measure, my three decided to do Space Mountain as well.
Left the park to enter the Studios where our first stop of the day was Studio Tram Tours, always like this and felt the Canyon part was rocking even more this time, hardly any queue for Tower of Terror so on we went again, this time the porter was very scary and very into his part, again we were placed on the back row which I preferred to be, later on in the shop we bought the ride photograph.
We tried for Stitch Live but our timing was lousy for this, we didnt want to queue for 30 minutes but it seemed we may have to at some point so we left the Studios (catching some of the Toon Train with Chip, Dale, Lilo and Stitch) to head over to the park as the girls were on a Princess hunt!
We sat by the castle stage having a snack when we noticed the queue already for the Princesses (it was around 12:45, they started at 1:30). The girls decided to go and stand in line, they joined the line at the marker which said 45 minutes, DS and I decided wed keep going back to keep them refreshed but decided we were heading to Star Tours, this was a walk on and we enjoyed taking our time (taking photographs) walking through to the loading area. We were sat on front row (a first for us) and one we enjoyed. After a look around the Discoveryland shops we headed back to the girls who werent that much further in the queue, Cinderella and Prince Charming were out, DS and I went for refreshments and Ariel and Eric were out when we got back, the day was turning out to be really hot and we welcomed sitting people watching in the shade. Cinderella and Prince Charming were back and the girls duly got photographs.
We decided to head back to the hotel and go swimming, on the way out we heard the music for the Character Express and spent an enjoyable time pretending to be a train down Main Street, I do wish this music was available we loved it!
The outdoor swimming pool at the Newport Bay wasnt open, not sure why as the day was very hot, I enjoyed a good swim whilst the others moved between the pool and the Jacuzzi, spoilt at times by young unsupervised children using it as a mini pool jumping in they took no notice of my three asking them to stop but eventually the life guards told them stop or out. After a couple of hours here it was back to the room to shower and change then on our way back to the park I enquired about Val DEurope and the Cityrama trip to Paris, the trip to Paris was booked for Sunday and Val DEurope was a free bus trip away by showing your Hotel easy pass on bus number 50, so this sorted we headed back into the park. First stop was Market House Deli where Croque Monsieur was enjoyed, then Casey Jr and Le Pays des Contes de Fees was calling us, but we decided to go to see the dragon in the castle first of all. We finally managed to get some decent pictures down here (we were the only ones in there) and then walked up to the shops in the castle to have a look around, finally brought home some Christmas decorations! Then it was onto the rides which were both a walk on. Into Adventureland where we walked around Le Passage Enchante Aladdin, its funny as we only discovered this in 2006 having missed it completely before. Then into one of my favourite themed shops Le Giraffe Curieuse, pictures taken of the giraffe, truck and King Louie hanging around and we decided to see what the wait time was for BTM. It said 20 minutes but we actually waited around 40, which wasnt a problem as we had time to kill before finding a place for Fantillusion. I LOVE this ride and we boarded on the left which again was a first for us and we all enjoyed it, DS managed to get his camera out and take a picture from the top, braver than I! DD2 still wont listen to how you get onto the island, she hates anything to do with water (hence spending her time in the Jacuzzi and not the pool!) By the time we finished on BTM we just had time to browse the camera shop on Main Street (we needed a memory card and we found out it was cheaper here than Val DEurope) before finding a spot outside the shop to watch Fantillusion. Donald came out again in his car, along with Mary Poppins, Genie and Robin Hood before the main man Mickey appeared. I love Fantillusion but havent yet managed to see all the stops in the parade. After Fantillusion finished we slowly made our way to a decent spot on Main Street for the fireworks, the lighting of the castle was lovely and DD1 and I thought the music and effects for the Enchanted fireworks were lovely and very spectacular, DD2 and DS preferred Wishes.
A lovely walk back to the hotel on route we decided that tomorrow we would venture to La Vallee and Val DEurope and leave the parks til later in the day when the crowds may have died down.
After a quick phone call home to Mum we settled down for the night.
