Hello all,
have spent the last 40 minutes going through the thred and trying to find the post that lists the 'hotels ' that DCL transport will pick up/drop off to in Barcelona.
Can anyone help?
hope your all well
Best wishes
Ruth

Hi Ruth,

These are the hotels that DCL are offering pre and post stays, so I think these are the ones that have transfer to;

*AC Barcelona
*Grand Marina Hotel
*Hesperia Presidente
*Hilton Diagonal Mar
*Hotel Atenea Mar
*Husa L'illa

However just to warn you - I have booked AC Barcelona for one night direct with the hotel. When I asked DCL to quote me the price was nearly double what I paid.

Hope that helps

Whilst it doesnt explain double price, remember in the UK we pay sterling into euros, if we looked at DCL, its sterling then dollars as DCL works in that, then basck into euros again so loosing on exchange rates twice, DCL must also have to fix their euro > dollars forward to apy for it all and if the banks view next year the dollar will slip this might factor into it.

Lastly of course they will make a profit and want to cover for 'unknowns'. Like overbooking where it becomes DCL's problem not our own if booking directly.

What do you mean by pre and post stays? Does that just refer to pickup and transportation? And, do they have that?

You can book these hotels through Disney cruise Line for either before (pre)or after (post) your cruise.

Sorry I do not know any thing about transfers or transportation.

I only know about these hotels because I had asked DCL directly about them, to see what thier prices were. I have not asked about any transportation.

I thought that because these are the ones DCL will book you they might offer tranfsers to them.

Hello, fellow cruisers!! We saw Lynn & Keith this w/e in NYC.............they will be sailing with us next summer from the UK! Still haven't gotten our passports but that is next on the list..........hope all are well!!!!!!!!! :thumbsup2

Okay guys, I booked my airfare today..... :wizard: :wizard:

I am 50 years old and I have never flown out of the US and I am very nervous!! I am sure everything will be fine. :confused3 :confused3

I found JFK to BCN with a stop in Madrid $565 (including all taxes and fees) Round Trip!! I bought 6 tickets. I found this on TRAVELOCITY and it is with Air Comet. They only fly out of JFK Monday and Friday......so we fly out on Friday the 27th and will be able to go right to the ship from the airport. We fly back on Friday the 10th of Aug....that will give us a few days in BCN before we return.

We are off to a Western cruise leaving on the 4th of Nov.....I am so excited!! I will say "hi" to the Magic for everyone :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Have fun on your Western. A dear, dear friend of mine will be sailing that cruise as well. She is part of the Port cast. This is her 5 years with the company deal and she is most deserving! She is 78 years old and completely wonderful. If you notice a woman...probably causing all kinds of trouble ;) ....her name is Dorothy! Give her a hug from her friend Tiffany! She would probably be blown away!

Thanks and have a great trip!

Awesome, I will watch for her!!

Have a great time on your Western Cruise Disneylover5 :)

I am not comfortable flying anywhere - in or out, but do it anyway - not happy - I will not let it stop me.

If I was not so afraid, I would check into the airline you are flying with. See -once you get me flying one day - don't want to do it again. You will be fine. Enjoy and report back any rumors/tips, etc. regarding excursions, entertainment, etc. for the med. cruise.

It is not the flying that scares me at all. I love to fly (I don't love to pay for it though). I think what scares me is taking my kids to somewhere I am not familar with, someplace I do not speak the same language, someplace where if I need to get help, I may not know how??? :confused3 :confused3
For example, do you dial 911 for an emergency? :confused3 :confused3

My nephew is 21 years old and he speaks French, Russian, English and some Spanish. My 17 year old son speaks Spanish....My nephew will be graduating from Georgetown University in May and I just about have him talked into going with us. He will be in Europe next summer and finishing up the program he is doing just before the cruise.....so he will just have to get to BCN

I guess that is why I wanted to do this trip. I know Disney and it helps me be more comfortable and yet show my kids something new!! :goodvibes :goodvibes

The only reason we gave this trip a second thought was because it was Disney. Neither one of us have been out of the US and have had no great desire, but with Disney we feel it will be safe, but the flight is my big dread! I am sure I am not alone on this feeling!

Pixie Dust II- My sentiments exactly! I also dread the flight to Barcelona and am already anxious about it. Last summer we flew to Ca. and took the Magic to the Mexican Riviera. I felt the same way about that flight, too, but surprisingly it was fine. I think the anxiety beforehand is sometimes worse than the actual event( as my DH keeps reminding me!)We're also traveling with a group of 14 so that will help, too.) I just keep telling myself that the Magic awaits!

I know I will. There is just so many places in the USofA that I have not seen yet.

Ok, no one answered this question...how do you call 911 in Europe. Maybe if I know at least that I will feel better!!! :wave2: :wave2: :wave2:

I have no idea! All I know is that I read Conde Nast magazine each month and I learn a lot about how to travel safely from their articles. I'm not too worried, being on a cruise gives you many ways to stay in large crowds. We will have a blast, DCL always makes it special! Still working on the passport....maybe this w/e! :thumbsup2

Not too get off topic - my son reported his missing/lost passport and resubmitted his application a year ago since we could not find it. We had to pay all the fees/pictures again. He received a temporary passport valid for a year. It expires in Jan. 07. He is going away before our July cruise (Mexico in March). He was given a different application with it to re-submit before it expired so they would extend the passport to it's original 10 year (or 9 years left). It was returned again. He needs to reapply all over again with all the necessary fees/pictures/birth certificates.

I can't belive we misplaced it - I have a feeling it was not given back to us (at customs) when we returned last year from our west coast cruise. I can't believe the hassle - I know how sensitive this is - it's costing us the equivalent of 3 passports. I am soo careful - yet I want to kick myself for letting this happen.

Okay - thanks for listening. Now try to get him to the post office
