July 28, 2007 - "Rome-ancing the Mouse Cruisers" -11 days!

Hi,

It has just occurred to me that despite cruising with DCL 4 times before, I have never been on an excursion with them.

Dave has done the scuba diving ones before, but with those they met on the ship, were taken as a dive boat, then taken back to the ship. (No chance of being left behind)

I was wondering - What is going on say a beach excursion like?

I take it they arrange a meeting point and time for return.
How many checks do they do? (At school when we are on a visit I count heads contstantly) I realise they wouldn't wait for late comers - believe me I am the sort of person that if they said to meet for @ 5pm I would be there for 4.30 ( Much to Daves annoyance)

Hi Helen - I was told in the past - and of course this was always in the Carribean - if your on a DCL excursions and something happens - the tour guide will notify the ship of any problems and they will wait as long as they are aware of the problem.

Basically on your own means that - your on your own, but luckily I have never had that problem, there was a rumor that on the WB Repo in 2005 one of the ladies buying jewelry at a guaranteed store was left behind all aboard was at 5 pm - I was sweating it as the last bus didn't want to leave her there alone - our bus filling up fast finally left at 4:40 - after a 15 minute ride to the terminal - we got onboard at 4:58 - we'd left the lady at the store - the ship left about 15 minutes later - and although I didn't see her that night - I did see the lady onboard the next day. So whether they privately taxied her back to the ship - or got to spend an extra night in Matazlan - she got back on the Disney Magic. My belief is they taxied her - as she was shopping with a lot of $$$. Hopes this helps your nerves - mine are all jangled up - and this is me

Wow - what an awesome milestone for you - ok enjoy and remember what your mom said - be CAREFUL!!!!!! I just had that talk with my son last night - he wanted to talk to me and took me into my room - here I thought - Oh no - he got his girl pregnant - then he tells me - How mad would I be if he got a tattoo? well after my heart settled I told him I would be disappointed in him but then we talked for a 1/2 hour. Went ok but told him he's not allowed to go shirtless around me if he does get it - he promised me it would be a small one in the center back but I told him I'd throw a knife (j/K - I really wouldn't) at him if I saw it - he said he'd . Made me laugh - anyway, sorry - off topic

My dh and I are attending a high school school dance that's held yearly (my sons both graduated from here but friends have invited us). We will be home around midnight and will clean up/straighten up. watch some tv, go on-line and decide on my Villafranche excursion.

We have booked excursions for Rome and Naples and will just take the bus to Florence and do our own thing there. We will be booking Villefranche, and Marseille thru the DVC web site tonight. If we are not successful in getting anything we will book private tours. We are getting into Barcelona on the 26th so if anyone wants to join us for Tappas and wine, email me. My son will be celebrating his 18th birthday on the first day of the cruise. With so many people on this thread I hope to meet some of you on the cruise. This is just our second cruise with Disney. Compared to some of you, we are newbies. Again we are really looking forward to hopefully meeting up with some of you. Be well all of you and see you in 90 days.
