Yes my kids had Daddies Dollars ( this year Euros) they earn it for good behavior and spend it on holiday.

That is very wise. We always did that on vacation. The kids took money they earned through the year or given to them by grandma/grandpa and that's what they spent. It reallly cut down on the "I want that" when they had to spend their OWN money. They really became good shoppers when it was THEIR money they were spending and not ours. It cut out the "I have to have it" and then they didn't bother with it again.

Yes it does have the effect of giving them a limit, DS last year spent his all on a big monorail set and extra track, so using it for one large purchase rather than many small, then asked for extra.

I give extra for good homework or exam results.

I've come to the conclusion that the fact that we breathe AIR embarrasses them! It doesn't take much.

DD13 received alomost $300 for her birthday and what whe earned for mowing lawns this summer. DH told her if she saved 1/2 she could get a laptop and we'd pay the other 1/2. Well, she handed over the money on her birthday and asked how soon it would be here. I wish he'd asked me before he made the offer. But Oh Well! She's very happy with her laptop and is more than willing too work for more money, while her brother won't work and complains we don't give him anything. KIDS !!!!

I really enjoy languages.

I teach very basic french to the children @ school and I completed a 15 week basic spanish course earlier this year.

Now when we are in Italy I have no idea - I'd better start looking some phrases up

A Jeep on fire has been driven at the main terminal building at Glasgow Airport, police have confirmed.
Eyewitnesses have described a Jeep Cherokee being driven at speed towards the building with flames coming out from underneath.

They have also described seeing two Aisan men, one of whom was on fire, who had been in the car.

The airport has been evacuated and all flights suspended following the incident.

Actually I feel in a very Spanish mood. Dave and I have just been o the metro centre (big indoor shopping mall) and after buying yet another pair of sandals we had lunch in el mino a spanish tapas bar.

Our lack of understanding spanisht reminds me of when DH, DD & DS & I went to my niece's destination wedding in Puerto Rico. We decided to go 2 days early and tour the island. Everything is in English except the entrace to a parking garage which had "enter" and "exit" in Spanish. The problem was that there was spikes that would pierce your tires if you went in the wrong way. Now DD was in college and had 5+ years of spanish and DS had 2+ years of spanish and they couldn't figure it out - the words were different than they knew. Well, luckily we made the right decision but not without a lot of yelling how we'd spent thousands of dollars of private school tuition for both of them and they didn't know 1st grade spanish. We can laugh about it now, but we weren't laughing then!
